BROWNIES
Epic Brownies pg. 48 in A Country Life cookbook
GINGER COOKIE BARS pg. 46 in A Country Life cookbook
Oatmeal Jumbles
Mix together and save out 1 1\2 c.
2 c. oatmeal
1 1\2 c. flour
1 c. packed brown sugar
3\4 tsp. salt
1 c. melted butter
Press remaining into greased 9x13 pan.
Melt over low heat:
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 c. chocolate chips
2 T. shortening
Pour over oatmeal crust. Top with remaining oatmeal chunks. If you'd like to add mini chocolate chips it really takes this up a notch and looks extra special for a bake sale or such, but it doesn't need them. This time I sprinkled on some broken walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until edges are golden brown. I kept mine in for 22 minutes. Cool completely and refrigerate until serving time.

Hi friends! I'm Jennifer, a forty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 8 - 24. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.
Here I'll share vlogs about all these things, what I'm doing that works and what I've tried but didn't work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

I just love these types of videos over a few days showing a lot of your day in the life of living on a cranberry farm it is so interesting 😊
It's wonderful to see the children helping in farm .. I have to admire your way of bringing up children.
If children are given chores from a young age they will learn that is how families work
Oh how delightful hearing my childhood grace we also say before our meals too!! Warms my heart!! Thank you so much!!
I love watching all you do for your home and family. After all that’s what life’s all about ❤️
My friend always put soft netting over the bush part of the blueberry bushes and she gets all the blueberries.
I love the idea of the block schedule for myself! I get so sidetracked sometimes! Thanks for the tip:). I do appreciate when you give tips, they are always very helpful
This video you have your makeup is simply lovely (please post what you use!) And you look younger than ever. Warren picked a beautiful bride!
This is the day that the Lord has made was one of my Dad’s favourites.
Get some tulle and put around and over your blueberries. Then can share after you get some for the family. Loved the cookies you made.I really enjoyed your week. Your family is so sweet.
Cranberries are my all time favorite food! I just love them!
So sorry to hear about the chicks! It’s all part of nature but nonetheless, I’m sure it must be absolutely devastating. Such an interesting video all around. Thanks to you and your family for sharing. 🙂
Hi !! Guys the amount of rain we have all had is over the top. I’m sorry about the little chicks. I was waiting on the deer and fawn photos.
Stay well, we need heat up here. Slow start to spring that’s for sure. Love from ❤️🇨🇦
Loved the way all of you did a prayer
For those of you who don't know, animals don't stop eating because it is raining. You still need to close up your birds.
If you use a mesh netting on your blueberry bushes, they will still grow well and the critters won't be able to get to them! 🫐
So sorry about the chickies =( We cover our blueberry bush (we only have one) with a netting & it helps. Last year, unfortunately, we didn't get it on in time and the birds ate all the berries. Have a great week.
That’s my favorite bible verse 😊
i REALLY hate for the videos to end, (let me just be clear & put that out there.) but that little g'nite is my favorite part. 😂😂
I have to tell you, I love your ginger bar recipe! In fact , now I’m REALLY craving them so I think those are happening tonight! I do actually make cream cheese frosting for those every time I make them. If you never have, do it!!
Sounds great!
Hi Jennifer! I Love this episode! So neat to see a week in the life. So sorry that you lost some chickens. Thank God Warren got more chicken wire to help them. It was neat to see some of what goes into cranberry farming! You are right Jennifer live in the moment and it is all about attitude. My Grandpa Jake would say that and keep smiling and stay. on your side of the fence! Great words of wisdom. Glory to God! May God Bless You all with His Peace. Forever and always.❤🕊😇
Same in the background is cracking me up. Gotta love teenage boys! Thanks again for another great video. Kim from Philadelphia
Editing: I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful chicks 😢
Good morning everyone happy Sunday morning and I just wanted to say that your vlogs is sooo beautiful I loved your channel and you are all amazing and I'm proud to all of you guys
Great Vid Jennifer-- I have soooo much respect for what you do with the cranberry farming! What a great family! Sorry about the chicks! Thank you so much for sharing! 🥰
I absolutely enjoyed watching this wonderful Vlog. You and your family are amazing!!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing your daily life
Hi Jennifer,
I made the oatmeal jumbles this evening. I didn't have chocolate chips, so I substituted about 1/3 cup peanut butter and 1 cup butterscotch chips. They turned out great! Reminiscent of an oatmeal scotchy.
I was thinking they'd be good with white chips and cranberries as well.
Just got home from churc, I go to a Saturday evening mass, and was pleasantly surprised to see you and your family here 1st thing.
Yes I love this video it was good to see all the different stuff
Another great video Jen, when I had a raspberry bush I had to buy bird netting to keep stuff off them, I thing I picked mine up at Wall Mart .
In NY State in Seneca Army Depot we have a large population of white deer. They are beautiful. About 1.5 hours from Rochester NY.
I really like all of your videos. You always have the best content and information about what you are doing. LOVE FROM Colorado
This video was AWESOME!
Thank you Susan.
hi , absolutly love your videos , please keep sharing family , food , and sometimes sadness .
I so enjoyed your video.
Missed you!
I got that same mosquito plant I believe that smells like lemon balm. I read that it’s a begonias and will flower. I hope it does.
I love these longer videos! I’m excited for you to get back to more new vlogs weekly! I miss y’all when there’s only one or two short ones a week. Love and prayers from Melody in Texas ❤️🙏🏻❤️
You forgot the picture. The cabbage steaks looked really good! It’s been so nice to get outside in nice weather! Another homesteader had issue with predators and chickens. They got netting that looked like chain link fence. They put it over the chicken run. They said it solved they problem. I need to find a better way to keep deer from destroying my garden.
Yes..fawn picture didn't show...
@@r.p.9829 🦌😧
I was thinking walnuts and then you said it! Lol, like minds! Those looked so good.🤤😋
Jennifer, I think that mosquito plant would be happier in a bigger pot…also, have you ever used terasorb? Helps to maintain moisture in potted plants…(substance like what they put in disposable diapers)
I've never used terasorb.
Love citronella plants. I rub against, take a leaf n rub on, when outside. Rosemary works almost as well.
Bug free
Loved seeing you go around in cranberry beds.
Heard tornados in Michigan... hop youare safe..
I think you would like Welsh Cakes they are like a cookie but not so crisp they are more cake like.
I always enjoy watching your videos. We are a catholic family as well and I was so glad to hear you all pray our prayer before your meal. Prayer is a part of our days as well, and such an important part. We live on a small homestead and work together on all types of projects as a family (sometimes the children are more willing than others), but in the end we all feel so accomplished. So sorry for your loss of chickens definitely not the favorite part of farming/homesteading. Thank you again for your time and efforts to show your joy and work together as a family.
Thanks for sharing a bit about your family. I always love knowing who's on the other side of the camera. Have a wonderful day!
I am so sorry about your youngest chickens. God's blessings....
My lilac just got done blooming. Boy, I sure wished they last longer.
I always wished my lilacs bloom longer funny thing is my rhododenders in the front of the house have been blooming in the spring and in the fall I don't know?
Jennifer, for years I have used a product called Root Blast and you would not believe how well it works. I have used it for years. I have African Violets that bloom all year around. The blooms are massive. They say it's good for tomatoes and fruits...I bought it off QVC long ago, I don't know if they still sell it or not. Just wanted to share this info with you....tell Sam I am impressed with his muscles!
Thank you!
So hello I have never seen a white deer and for some reason it wasn't on where you said in the blog. ❤ watched it several times. So... Could you show it ❤ thanks love your blogs.
Please check my community posts as I posted pics there since I forgot to in the video.
I really enjoyed this style video! Thank you for sharing your life with us!
So sorry to hear about your chickens, that is so heartbreaking! Hoping the new chicken will help keep those pesky predators out!!
We have raccoons that come on our porch because we feed our cats there, but we have to keep putting their food away. My husband catches them in a live trap and turns them loose in the river bottoms, a few miles from our house, so far 18 raccoons, way more than usual.
I love hearing your chickens cooing!
Raccoons got our ducks. I know how you feel. We got racoon foot traps online , they work good. We baited with dog food. Good luck.
Say where they took chicken bones first making broth then taking all the bones dehydrating them. Once dried out they put them in a food processor and made their own bone meal!
What a lovely relaxing vlog to watch. Sorry about your chickens, I have 6 of my own, in England. Our main threat is foxes, they are in breeding season at the moment so cubs to feed and always lock my girls in at night, husband keeps their population controlled on our farm
Could you put netting over the blueberry bushes? Might save some of your blueberries. 🫐 Your flowers are lovely. I’m really sorry about the chickens. It’s so hard when that happens. A coyote carried off my huge rooster a few months ago. We were letting them free range around our yard. (We live in the country.) I even ran after it but couldn’t catch up with it. We were all so upset. 😞
Sorry to hear about your rooster; it's just devastating when that happens. Lots of comments about netting and I think I'll try that this year.
So sad that you lost some of your chickens Jennifer the kids must have been heartbroken. I am still waiting for summer to start here in N.Ireland, cannot wait for sunny weather. Tfs your family life with us. 🙏❤🇨🇮
It was devastating for Peter and then he watched this video and saw our beloveds and that made us sad all over again.
I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet Chickens 🙏
Patricia
I love how you care for your plants. Keep up the good work? 🏵🌸🌼🌺
You can use toile to put around your blueberry bushes to keep the birds off. You get that at the fabric store or Walmart in case you didn't know.
Thank you for sharing I’m loving learning about your cranberry farm. You are a very hard working family ♥️🤗🙏
Haha! Sam flexing behind you was so funny! I have a 15 year old boy, so funny how they love their muscles!
Also his little smirk at the camera after 😂
Yeah, I caught that smirk, too.
I love the long videos of a full week.
Great video! I love a slice of slice of your life! Big hugs to everyone!!!
I started using Alaska Fish Emulsion - liquid Fish fertilizer in a gallon jug from either fleet farm or Amazon for $20 - $24. You just mix it with water and sprinkle over the vegetable plants in the garden. Had the best peppers and tomatoes ever last year. It does smell a bit fishy initially, but totally worth it.
Hello from South Dakota, we too had a second bloom from our lilacs last year. I just love your channel.
Very enjoyable video thank you so much Jennifer
I just adore this channel!
I just gave my dad a weather stick (hard to find something fun for an 82year old!). He can’t wait to put it up and see if it works🤣😂🤣
He's going to love it. I peek at it every time I'm at my kitchen window.
Really Really like the Longer videos!😊😊 Thank you for sharing!💞
we had a racoon last year. It got 3 ducks, and 15 chickens (half my flock) before we caught it. everyone is locked inside every night. it was heartbreaking. I feel for you!
Hello 👋
Jennifer the white mixing bowl info???? The Oatmeal bars look amazing! These I will try for sure! I saved the recipe. I love your flowers, plants and lilacs. Well done!
Thank you for this beautiful video! Nature is amazing!
Hi jennifer. Oh, I am so sorry about the chick's. I could just imagine how much it hurts you and the family. I take care of stray cats; I feed them, have built houses for the winter and so on. One of my neighbors poisoned two last year. I was devastated. Sometimes predators are not the furry kinds, unfortunately.💔💜
I'm so sorry about that as I'm sure you get attached to them all.
Very interesting to see the shutoff chores. The cranberry beds, even the new ones look great. I had to come back to edit and say I'm re-watching to copy the Oatmeal Jumbles recipe into my cookbook. I hope volume 2 will have a page or two left blank for add-ins like that. Thanks, Jennifer! (PS..I love your dotted mint top, it looks so springy and cute!)
I love this type of video & love learning new things in each video. Our mosquito plants also take so much water!! We’re having a hard time finding tiger bloom this year!
I always order it through Amazon since my local store isn't under contract with Tiger Bloom anymore.
We love the long ones.
Great video. You all did a great job raking that big field. That's a lot of work! Tell the kids they did great...(raking is one of my least favorite tasks too.)
Sorry about those beautiful chicks. So hard to lose something you put so much into.
This year I am buying a bunch of cranberries for my freezer. Wish we could buy year 'round in the grocery. Ordering a cookbook, so I can make those cranberry bars!! And other goodies.
What a great video.
Love all your videos Jennifer! You do a fantastic job!! From Montgomery al 🙏 ❤️
Do you use tiger bloom on your vegetables?? Watching over the years you have convinced me to go to my coop and buy some. Your potted flowers always look so beautiful. I will definitely use on my pots of flowers. By the time you get this question I’ll have to decide on my own if it’s appropriate for vegs in pots. 🤷♀️. Maybe the label will help. Thx again for sharing your days with us. 🌷
Check the label. Fox Farms makes 3 different fertilizers and I think one is for tomatoes. Just check the label.
Thx for taking the time to reply!
The cabbage steaks look really good with that lasagna I have never had that mostly I just do salads with it and sometimes green beans or broccoli never even thought about cabbage steaks and a lot of us like those so this is coming up on the menu. I don't know if it would help you at all but I used to take a morning cup of coffee out and go around at least the porches and the containers and kind of meditate and put a grocery bag over my arm and deadhead my flowers and really try not to think about the days going on and just drink my coffee I didn't get any Bible reading or anything done during that time but it was a good time to just wind down wake up drink my coffee before everyone got up sometimes just barely daylight and go from there. It was a limited amount of gardening but it was something I wanted done so the plants kept blooming pretty so it was kind of a fun thing
I love your long videos!!!
Great video! Sorry about your chicks!!
Those crappie are HUGE! You guys aren't alone on the predator pressure. They have been really bad this year down here as well. Armadillos are starting to creep in to our area and are stealing eggs.
Yes coons will eat chicks and big chickens too . We had tons of chickens and coons got most of them they usually come in the early morning or middle of the night we had to go hunting for our coons . So sorry about your chicks . Maybe the others will be good. I think summer time is worse for predators.
Ps. I never used miracle gro until last year.
I wasn’t impressed. Fish emulsion and osmocote have always worked fairly well for me. 🌸
It sounds crazy, but get a donkey, they call them the yard angles... Donkeys will kill any thing that doesn't belong... Donkeys are very easy keepers also... Love these week long videos!!! Your family is so awesome 👌
I’m sad for you about the chickens. Blessings
Loved the video!!
Jennifer i’am Sorry about the Chickens 🙏🐓 ❤
Would you show sometime how you do your hair in that twisted knot on the right side of your head? I have long hair and I've tried and I just can't figure out how you secure it so well.
I just found out at our local nursery that some lilacs bloom twice a year. Maybe you have that kind.
How are the chicks doing now??? This was very interesting....I like the lo nger videos...
What happens next with the vines? I would love a whole like cranberry farm year cycle video.
What happens to the raked up vines after they're hauled away?
Why do you need to know the weight of them?
My parents had a summer house just north of the Dells and I think they were close to some cranberry fields. Do you have any children that aren’t fans of cranberries?
Ya'll need a livestock guardian dog , like a pyr, or anatolian shephard dog, they will keep your chickens safe ....
Is second cookbook ready yet
um....I think y o u forgot to include the pictures of the deers. I'm sorry about your chickens. Something similar happened to me when I was trying to raise 50 chicks. I was so mad. I had just gotten them that day. I had them locked up and had to go to town for something. When we got back the door to the chicken house was standing wide open. Our german shepherds had gotten in and ate every single one. ughhhh.
Does your cranberry field water come from a river?
