there were a lot of people who became popular after pd48. lot of the 4th gen gg have members who were on pd48. purple kiss, cherry bullet, rocket punch, lightsum, fromis_9, everglow, bugaboo, secret number, fanatics, kepler, h1-key, alice.
x1 disbanded because they just debut and didnt have a foundation yet. most of the manipulation was from their season. IZ*ONE was already one of the top gg. Their album and mv were already recorded. Also wizone did twitter events where it was trending like everyday during the hiatus trying to get the group back. wizone did what they could to tell the companies that they still wanted izone to come back.
the twitter events were crazy, it's kinda sad that I don't see any channels that make videos about the history of izone comment on the events that the fans did. It was crazy that the hashtags were trending almost every day for the entire 2 months. izone and wizone were true legends.
also they dont comment about parallel project as well, the power of this fandom is huge
I’m so glad you’re enjoying iz*one! As a predebut fan, i realize that iz*one really went out with a bang which is maybe something i would prefer instead of them fading into obscurity until a news post announced their end. My only gripes will really just be the hiatus and the fact they couldn’t have their final stage in front of a live audience. Thanks for the video, and i hope you start liking the group even more. I think it was Nako who said that just because they’re not together anymore , doesn’t mean you can’t like them. It’s never too late to become a fan!
Although I love all members of iz*one, I can’t help but feel bitter that Gaeun and Chowon didn’t debut in Iz*one even though they were supposed to.
Iz*one without Yuri n Chewon is totally different Iz*one man. IDK i love my OT12.
I forgot that them crying on their last concert was in the video. That segment of the concert made me cry and I didn't expect to cry for a group.
These groups get popular since the agencies send some of their best trainees but more importantly people get really attached to them during the show.
X1 disbanded because they were still beginning (they were only 5 months old before they disbanded, they went on hiatus and stopped the promotions when the rigging scandal went out) and their contract weren't signed yet. X1 was supposed to be active for 5 years. Half of those years, the members can do some things in their respective agencies.

Bro the crisis was real!! I didn't want to come back at the era when X1 disbanded and when we were waiting for izone 3rd korean comeback that's been postponed and postponed so many haters and so many TV show they're filmed was cancelled that time were like a hell to us!!!

i got into kpop fully end of 2021. Never heard of izone but strangely knew panorama & ssots. Saw izone jline news of going back to japan after the disbandment. First knowing izone well was when I knew yujin who was already in IVE. Stan IVE after Love Dive era. Getting to know IVE got me to know about izone too since yujin & wonyoung were in the group. Started watching all izone content and pd48 shows. Izone journey (success debut & comeback + vote manipulation scandal). I'm actually sad that i got to know izone only after their disbandment. I watched their last concert video too especially their ending ment. I FR CRIED. If 'I' who stan izone this late cried that much, imagine how wizone who knew and support them since day 1 felt. I understand why the parallel project was big BIG but sadly it failed.

as WIZ*ONE from late 2018, and also one of the fan who was singing on LED of last ONE THE STORY online concert, I want to tell our story. There were many predictions that the contract will be extended, so the sorrow when contract ended at Apr 2021 was too big. We already experienced similar feeling before(the three month hiatus), and we wanted to extend the contract so eagerly. WIZ*ONE were gathered and set up project to collect their money to make IZ*ONE's reunion, although it's arguable that their approach is realistic, it represents how they were desperated. After some efforts, the project was ended and now I'm supporting all 12, and also IVE and LSFM. Now we have lots of name, dive, fearnot, jigumi, rubi, glassy, chaerish, ... I'm also big fan of IVE and LSFM, so I don't want them to disband, but I believe that someday, there would be a stage that all members will stand on.
I think I am regret to see this video a little cuz it reminds me what my the happiest and also the sollowest memories, and of course, I'm still a WIZ*ONE now and forever. All we could do is look at the members' own career now and wish everything will go well.

Even I.O.I, who are still incredibly close to each other, struggled and failed to make a comeback on their 5th anniversary like they wanted to do. All we had is a vlive with 2 member absent. And now, after Sakura's statement about not really being close to majority of the group, I don't think we have any chance to witness their reunion.

Honestly, if you ever decide to start watching Produce 48 and Iz*one content I'll immediately subcribe to it. I do hope that you see this - While the produce shows were rigged, Produce 48 were alledgedly only rigged in the finale (From articles based on the lawsuit) and so everything else you'll see are pretty much the actual votes and popularity rankings up till the final episode. That being said, while it's sad to know 2 trainees were manipulated out of IZ*ONE, I think the final line is as perfect as it can be with the 12 girls we received in the end
I believe X1 disbanded because their foundation was still shaky (Produce X 101 just finished) and the contract was still being finalized, so it's a much easier decision for the individual agencies to just end there since there wasn't much investment done yet anyway. Unlike IZ*ONE, who already has a pretty solid fanbase (fans never left during the media blackout) and has fully invested in the comeback (already released promotional materials and trailers for BLOOM*IZ days before the scandal hit), their respective agencies also asked the members' opinions themselves and they wanted to continue. I think, from a business standpoint, it's better to just go ahead with the comeback that was already ready anyway and test the waters. And by the way, if you haven't seen the lyrics for Fiesta yet, it was very apt for their situation at the time of its release haha. The scandal, hiatus, and comeback were really insane times, other groups have disbanded for much less and still they went on to become one of the biggest girl groups in history. Honestly, you can base a movie or anime just from their conception to disbandment with how much of a roller-coaster ride it was 😂
Produce48 is still a fun watch even if you're not doing it for IZ*ONE. So many idols in 4th gen were there (members of Everglow, Lightsum, Purple Kiss, Cherry Bullet, Rocket Punch, etc.) and of course Yunjin of LE SSERAFIM!
It was not just a controversy but a full blown corruption scandal that ended up in court with the revelation that two contestants, Lee Kaeun (former After School) and Chowon (now a member of Lightsum), were cheated out of the TOP 12 (the final members to debut). Kaeun and Chowon were done so dirty and it was completely unfair but we acknowledge that the IZ*ONE memebrs were not at fault. Ultimatelly IZ*ONE was extremely succeful and bought us so many gems and can't imagine it without any of the girls.
i was and still am a massive fan of izone. i remember my heart sinking when the controversy happened. every day for months i would be anxious and hoping i could see the group again. at that time i was also following x1's journey so you just know how devastated i was when i heard they disbanded and izone might follow along too. this is why fiesta is my favourite izone song. its not just because its a banger but it also gave me a huge relief. fiesta dropping really reassured me that izone will not be going anywhere for a while.

izone didn't disband because their contract was about to expire in 2021, while X1 just debuted in 5 month (my fav group 😔💔) fyi, X1's contract is supposed be 5 years, 2024 should be their last year 🥲
I wish you react X1 too since they just have 1 album 😔 they supposed comeback in december 2019 before disbanding 💔 they a great group, winning after 5 days debuted and got so many award just in 5 month
I think the reason X1 disbanded is due to the fact that they haven't signed their contracts yet at that time. Also, I heard that the management surprised the agencies involved by suddenly announcing that the duration of the contract is 5 years so they were already skeptical since the very start, the scandal only pushed them into backing out so in the end, they disbanded.
IZ*ONE, on the other hand, has been promoting for a year then and is one of the biggest girl groups with very solid fanbase. The fan movement is also perhaps one of the reasons why they stayed, considering backing out from the contract will earn the loyal fans' anger and affect the girl groups agencies wanted to create. Their fandom is not a joke, most of these fans are professionals who even fought to have their contract extended. It was to the point they opened up a fundraising drive, collecting $2M in one day (Korea-only donation), and made a company for them with legal staff, to be able to discuss the contract extension with the agencies in equal footing. They are, in many people's opinion, the most dedicated fandom to exist.

Regarding people not making it while being extremely popular, (other than the other comments mentioned)
1. Lee Ga Eun (or Kaeun) was extremely popular with the GP due to her well rounded and stable skills, as well as being a member of 'AFTER SCHOOL'. She was solidly above top 10 rankings in the weeks prior to the final evaluation. So it was a shock when she didn't even make it to 12 in the final rankings. Then we find out months later that there were controversies in the final ranking.
2. Han Cho Won, she was called the 'Queen of Reversals' initially due to her image as a badass rapper then was given a vocalist role and we find out that she had the vocals of an angel (as well as a degree in practical music). Then in the next evaluation she was assigned the position of rapper which she also did well enough for the trainers to compliment her. (Along with other things that happened in the produce 48 series including being low ranking jumping to a higher rank). She was also included in the final ranking controversy as she should have debuted with IZ*ONE and Lee Ga Eun.
Although a good amount in the forums also agree that MNET had a concept that didn't fit the above/other. There are more trainees in the series that had significant skill and fanbase who were not even highlighted as much. I recommend watching the series!

back in 2020 first week album sales aren't that big of a deal. in Hanteo chart. TWICE used to be the number 1 GG that has sold the most in a week with 150k+. but then when IZ*ONE came back (Even after the hiatus due to the manipulation scandal) with BLOOM*IZ still my number 1 album and would win Album of the year for me every year LMAO. they still broke the record with 300k+ there were even a time when the first and second place on first week sales is IZ*ONE with BLOOM*IZ and the next comeback Oneiric Diary. after that. it became a trend to literally bulk buy albums so their favorite groups would beat IZ*ONE.
People speculate that IZ*ONE's popularity would drop after the scandal. but little did they know. fans actually wanted the group as is. it would be different if there are other members in the group but the bottomline is. The group that made it, is literally perfect for each other. They compliment each other so well. they go along so well. they are just so entertaining to watch together.

what i've heard is that Izone signed CJ entertainment contract while X1 didn't sign at that time (not sure but it has to spend almost 5-6 month to complete the contract)

Indeed, MNET was always known to rig its shows, in the sense that they already had specific contestants they wanted to debut in mind as their shows went own, so it's a battle of screentime, evil editing and fake voting - they got into a huge scandal in like 2021 ? when it was publicly revealed that all their produce shows till 2021 (last group at the time was X1) were rigged, like some of the final members were not meant to debut, or that the ranking was not accurate (example would be that for iz*one, wonyoung ranked 1st, but it was actually sakura who ranked 1st - but huh.... mnet and their history with struggling to put foreigners in 1st place lol....)
this explained why X1 disbanded in a matter of 1 month of activity, but they let iz*one continue till the end of their contract because it was almost done already but they went in a hiatus
this explains why, after that MNET rebranded their shows as girls planet/boys planet to basically let go of the "produce scandal" though it's basically the same thing, and the scandal did heavily affected the whole "survival shows" system's popularity
like i would say, IZ*ONE is the last TRULY succesful produce group, ZEROBASEONE is ok, but kep1er is kinda flopping for instance....

The only positions that were confirmed rigged were Chowon and Kaeuns spots. Idk where people get this fake information that Sakura was ranked first
