    6:32 those locomotives look baby compared to the boxcars and double stacked containers on wellcars. Those are American loading gauge wagons.

    • @MS_Trains
      @MS_Trains  Год назад

      Yes, it's a shame we don't have bigger, meaner-looking locomotives here hauling our bigger freight trains.

      @@MS_Trainsbut in the pilbara there are bigger meaner looking trains

      No tunnels in the region so thats why they use the bigger meaner looking off the shelf American locos.

    I must admit, those Aurizon locos in their budget livery are starting to grow on me.

    • @MS_Trains
      @MS_Trains  Год назад

      I'm still not so sure about them. Budget livery is defiantly the best way to describe them haha

    Question: behind the locos is that a fuel supply wagon, ievone to fuel the two locos and immediately after that is that an accommodation carriage?

    • @MS_Trains
      @MS_Trains  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, we call it Inline Refuelling. It's meant to top up the locomotive tanks, as they used to. It doesn't always work that way, and sometimes crews have to turn on the pumps while stopped crossing opposing trains. Depending on weather conditions, those fuel pods can hold enough fuel to replenish the locomotive tanks for the whole journey there and back some 6,000 km in total.
      The carriage is crew accommodations allowing the same four-man crew to work 8 on, 8 off-hour shifts across the several day trips.

    Very nice. I like your commentary and the 'box' in the right hand lower corner to display the train details. Such a shame that SCT's rolling stock is so thoroughly graffitied. The TAR is a fascinating operation and I must get back there! Maybe next year....
