If I remember right, in the books it’s explained that EVERY costume the tributes wore for DECADES where ridiculous by most standards but where considered “high fashion” in the Capital. Cinna was not only a brand new stylist but very daring in making the artificial flame outfits in 74-75 hunger games because they weren’t gaudy but bold and more warrior like. The 75th games you can see a few other stylists took up Cinnas style in the veteran tributes but couldn’t quite deliver it the same way.
i recall reading somewhere that when they the stylists of the other districts tried to copy Cinna's flames on their own district, maybe it was livestock or smth, it was ridiculous because it made them look like burning cows
I just read it, District Three did a kind of Technicolor LED lights getup that at least kinda made sense, but then District Ten had the tributes dressed as cows with flaming belts which looked very silly according to Katniss. A cheap imitation. @@ArkT64

I feel like the idea of the district seven outfit was actually pretty clever, and similar to Cinna and Portia's idea of not dressing them as what they collect in the districts, but what they can make with that item. Coal and fire, wood and paper. I think the execution could have been a lot better, though. Like less complex, more like a paper crane, maybe yellowed.

I actually really like Thresh and Rue’s (District 11) costume closely followed by District 12. This isn’t me being biased, though I do love Thresh, Rue and Katniss and Peeta. The thing the strikes me is how young they look and some of them are clearly good actors because I can see the fear they have. Seriously, I know it’s a book but it’s devastating that kids would be forced to do that.

I always thought that the designers of didtrito 7 were very creative since being a district of trees they did not use the theme of branches, trunks or leaves but rather that their costumes are based on the paper produced by the trees :D

While the costumes Josh and Jennifer wear during the movie were pretty awesome, I have to say, the Masonry costumes look pretty kickass too, very Greek or Roman chariot gladiator types, you know?
As funny as these costumes are, they're actually a really creative move from the wardrobe department. The stylists are all capital born and have always enjoyed a comfortable existence away from any hardship or poverty like the tributes. Their bubble leaves them oblivious to any knowledge or cultural details, so they're styling the tributes based off of surface level knowledge. The outfits are supposed to be gaudy and tacky because that's the point. It reflects how self-absorbant and out of touch the Capital is with the rest of Panem. Costuming attention to detail isn't always seen in block busters like this so its really cool and also serves as important imagery for the audience to understand the great levels of oppression.

District 6: The moon represents rockets in the moon. District 9: The costume represents the machine to create cereal and others products made for grain
The moon is to symbolize “flying to the moon” and how some people used to use the moon for directions. District 9’s costumes represent a silo (a tall usually golden building used to store grain).
12 was amazing, but I think several other districts, like 2, had great costumes too. This music is really fitting for this! The overall sound of it makes everything look like an echo from the past. It could be I guess, seeing as almost all of these characters ended up dead.
Cato and Clove look like bull’s ready to attack. Glimmer and Marvel are posing like they just won the beauty pageant. Peeta and Katniss look like they just went scuba diving. District 8 looks like a ball of yarn. District 7 looks like they just came out of a paper shredder. District 3 looks like they TRIED to put metal in a paper shredder. District 5 looks like disco balls. District 4 looks like they just found what they had in the trash can and threw it on. Rue and Thresh look ICONIC. And about everyone looks depressed. (I didn’t have commentary on all of them, but you can give me some ideas to add to the list.)
I know, especially the 12/13 year olds, they had no chance! Even District 8 girl who was 13 and had the same odds as Clove died on the first night. The youngest to ever win was 14, why did they even send anyone younger in 😔

District 9: The costume represents the machine to create cereal and others products made for grain

The moon is to symbolize “flying to the moon” and how some people used to use the moon for directions. District 9’s costumes represent a silo (a tall usually golden building used to store grain).
District 9s stylist cant put grain or bread on the outfits it would look silly. They put crystals on it to represent grains.

This is really late lol but my BY FAR favorite costumes are Catos and Clove from dis 2, my fav character is Clove and my second fav is Foxface
12 was amazing, but I think several other districts, like 2, had great costumes too. This music is really fitting for this! The overall sound of it makes everything look like an echo from the past. It could be I guess, seeing as almost all of these characters ended up dead.
Cato and Clove look like bull’s ready to attack. Glimmer and Marvel are posing like they just won the beauty pageant. Peeta and Katniss look like they just went scuba diving. District 8 looks like a ball of yarn. District 7 looks like they just came out of a paper shredder. District 3 looks like they TRIED to put metal in a paper shredder. District 5 looks like disco balls. District 4 looks like they just found what they had in the trash can and threw it on. Rue and Thresh look ICONIC. And about everyone looks depressed. (I didn’t have commentary on all of them, but you can give me some ideas to add to the list.)
