Very much agree Steve, VR can be a great escape from the everyday hum drum. Last night my daughter and son in law were over for my Bday and I put my son in law into the Crystal Light (he has a Quest 2), setup a short flight in the Diamond DA40 (MSFS 2020), over land he would know well. Set the ai autopilot and let him enjoy the flight, I watched as he looked all over and mentioning the landmarks he knew, his comments regarding the clarity and visuals he was experiencing (in TAA mode). I also got him to do a 10 lap race in AC, he was so blown away by the visuals of the PCL as I am.
It was pretty neat to watch someone else enjoying what I get to enjoy any time I so desire. :)

I love re-experiencing trips I've taken. My favorite was flying over the route of a 7 day backpacking trip i took with a friend years ago in the Eastern Sierras mountain range. Flew the icon a5 just so I could go slow and have good visibility from the cockpit. It was awesome to relive.
And then there's some fake memories I've made haha. The most notable one was i accidentally misclicked or something and ended up starting above the sea near some Antarctican islands, before sunrise, and I must have had live weather on because I almost always choose scattered or broken for the visuals. For a half hour there was nothing but sea and overcast clouds, but the clouds were turning a vibrant orange during sunrise, and occasionally I would get small breaks in the clouds which really let the light show play. Eventually I was flying by some ice and snow covered chain of islands with stunning typography. I think because I hadn't intended to do that flight, it made it more memorable, and I have an almost real kind of memory about it, it's hard to describe.
I wish I could show 10 year old me, who was enthralled by flight sim 95, what id be doing this many years later. I would have lost my damn mind!

I find myself going back to the Canaries, Sicily, Sardinia, Mallorca....all the places i visit to escape from time to time. It gives me the feeling of being back there. Love it.
What would make MSFS2024 so much more realistic is if there were people at the detailed scenery!!! They don't have to be moving. Static people would be amazing. And static cars in the proper density would be amazing too!!!

I fly the Cessna 172 in real life but in the MSFS I love to fly the FW190 with VR (Pimax Crystal) and that looks fantastic!

I feel bad, I’ve been jumping into 2020 to escape the heat and sun. But yes, it’s come a long way. I even use the sim sometimes to taxi around new airports that I’m operating out of. Almaty was crazy in the snow, poor English of ATC and ground crew. Taxiing in the sim first me good SA.

Steve great video as always. Just don't understand why you use an Intel 13900K instead of an AMD 7800X3D or 9800X3D. Not only AMD gives you better performance, it also uses literally half of the power! Intel is really inefficient and runs hot, without any performance gain.
How much more performance do you get between a 7800X3D and a 9800X3D ?

I just installed 2024 yesterday. I have to admit, VR is a disgrace to both MS and especially to Asobo Studios. This is the work of software hacks, who can't even get it right after 5 years. All I did is fight bugs all day long. Right now it hangs up on "recenter" sometimes and totally crashes to a needed reboot. Martial NEEDS TO GO. That is clear from his lack of interest on the blogs. And Jorg needs to exercise his power when it comes to VR. They took the money from 1.5 million VR users and told us VR was corrected. Again, not true. It is even only about half there. People are also losing faith in their streaming blogs big time simply because what is advocated doesn't happen. YOU WERE THE FIRST TO ACTUALLY SPIT IT OUT. I am stepping up to that place myself. BTW - I can't get out of VR either when it does go in. I have to do a total reboot to kill it. What a joke this sim is in VR. Half of it does not work. I am on a Pimax Crystal (full), a 4090, and a top of the line Intel driven PC. No cheap excuses.

VR in MS2024 is a disgrace because of the bugs, but is also limited due to current hardware. Sticking to 2020 for now. You said you have a top of the line Intel! I don't understand how people still buying intel! You are literally using twice as much power of an equivalent AMD system with less performance. The AMD X3D CPUs are great on VR and have better performance. (check reviews) with a lot less power and less heat!
@@Chiefcheeseofcheddington Maybe you don't have a Pimax or high res VR? ( maybe you have quest 3 or run DLSS with blurry screens) @mesillahills pain is real but VR is an extra even on FS so we need to give ASOBO time. They never promised it would be a fully working VR sim out of the gate i think. MSFS2020 didn't even had VR when it lunched. We all just need patience!
@ You have not followed this. They have had VR for 4 years now and promised at least 5 times on their blogs to fix it. This release went backwards with even more things not working. Yet MS takes a lot of money from 1.5 MILLION VR users for working VR. That is probably 150 MILLION dollars. The time has come to STOP making excuses and actually do something. Steve got it right even through I criticized him at first..
@ To each his own. I do not pay for electricity so this is not an issue. The differences in performance are minimal. But through the years, the world in general has followed Intel more than AMD. AMD has been incompatible with certain things. So travel at your own risk. I prefer the safe route. Intel, MS, and others work closely together on all new technologies. AMD sucks hind tit because of their smaller role.
Ive been a Private pilot since 1993. I got my license because MSFS4 was so terrible. Eventually flight sims got better but there was always something wrong about flight simming on a 2d monitor. It always seemed so artificially difficult. The first time I popped on my Samsung Odyssey and landed I immediately knew why. Full 3d depth. Its really that simple. Subject change: Not sure when it became ok for youtubers to start becoming one giant advertisement but I dont like it one bit. RUclips does more than enough ads and they pay you more than enough. This is how RUclips is ruined by youtubers. Its like a contagious virus. Considering covid is how most of you first cashed in on RUclips its kinda funny in a severely hypocritical way.
