We have friends who are very experienced sailors, and they have a motto, "a gentleman never sails to wind". Yes, they're Brits! Choosing your conditions does not mean you're not sailors, it makes you smart. Also, finding what works for sea sickness is a very personal thing. We use meclizine starting 12-24 hours before departure and every 8 hours while underway. I (Geri) only take 1/2 dose because otherwise I'm really sleepy. For active nausea/vomiting, ondansetron is great for me, and useless for Shawn. It's a prescription med, but very safe. Most MDs will happily prescribe it for you if you tell them your plans. Also, ginger (chews, tea, etc) is great for nausea, and I'm planning to get Shawn a Relief Band (electric pulse) to try. Good luck finding your best solution.
It's crazy how the ick creeps up on you. We're finding that when the seas are aft of the beam it hits harder. That being said pounding into it is a beating for both ship and crew. 100% agree on finding the right weather window, but sometimes ya just gotta go and deal with it. Having experienced it does make it better in hindsight, not a lot of fun at the time though.
Nice Vid, well at least now you know the deep blue sea sailing isn't for you, I suppose there is a huge difference between and catamaran and a single hull anyway, Our dog (Maggie) also hates the rain and normally refuses to go anywhere if it raining, looks like you all got pretty wet in it though. We also hate leaving Maggie when we go away and we are about to go for 2 weeks away and leaving her behind wont be easy. you guys stay safe
Well, at least for now the big blue is on hold. Winston needs a little more stability than an ocean crossing can provide. But I think with the right crew and maybe with a rally we may make the jump. Or we could just do what others have recently done and put our little boat on a big boat? 🤔
Wow. I am in this video 3 times. 🚣♂ 🤣 Looks like you had a real adventure helping deliver Windwards boat. Can't wait to see her doing charters up this way. Edit: The marina puts the washer and dryer in the captains lounge when a hurricane is coming in case the laundry room floods.
Lol! Thanks for the cameos! Yeah, we talked to the guys (after the fact 🤣) and that what they said. But considering how high the laundry is we would have much bigger problems if it got to that point!

I really admire your grit. What you do would be very frightening to me, so watching you gives me a vicarious sailing experience.❤ ❤❤❤
Wow, thank you! This is definitely a game of grit and determination. Not for everyone that's for sure!
