    I look for curriculum that is not to teacher intensive. Short lessons (2 boys with ADD). Visually appealing and not a lot on the page because it overwhelms my boys. Independent subjects they could do would be great but I'm falling short on finding any. Group subjects for sure! Thanks for the free printable!

    Yes, the topics you are addressing are just what I'm searching for. I appreciate the PDF's you create, and can not tell you how helpful they are to me, thank you! I'm looking for help with building a practical routine, creating chore lists, organization tips and how to structure home school life in a balanced way. I'm learning how to utilize a planner, set goals, and create a healthy and balanced routine. I have felt overwhelmed and disorganized as a homeschooling mom, but know I can figure out ways to change this dynamic. Your PDF's are wonderful! I especially enjoyed your videos on routine vs schedule.

    We pull from so many places and I have a problem buying too many books haha (if that’s truly a problem 🤷‍♀️😂) February was our 1st year anniversary so we’re still learning as we go. I truly swoon over Waldorf schools but I’m not the artsy type at all so I’d have to put myself in school first lol

    I found this video very helpful. I’m in the process of changing some of our curriculum, so the links you provided will be great for my search!
    How many books do your kiddos read throughout the year? Do you set a goal for them or do you allow them to pick the amount & the type of books they want to read?

    • @TheEclecticHomeschooler
      @TheEclecticHomeschooler  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
      I don’t set a goal for number of books per year. We do 30 minutes of required silent reading each school day and then they can do more if they want, and often do. As a motivation, when they finish a book and turn in a book report, they get to stay up later that night. ☺️ Some books they choose on their own and some I assign to go along with our lessons.

    2021 will be my fist year, we chose a boxed curriculum (my father’s world) to hold my hand and also playing with Five in a row. Just testing the waters to see what works for us. We will start out CMish but relaxed and simplistic is my goal.

    • @TheEclecticHomeschooler
      @TheEclecticHomeschooler  3 года назад +1

      Great plan! Totally would recommend a boxed set for beginners - just don’t feel like you have to do every.single.thing in it! Love the CM approach and have heard lots of good things about My Father’s World.

    What writing curriculum do you use or have loved the best. I know that IEW is supposed to be one of the best but both my daughter and myself were in tears trying to get through it. I don’t think she enjoyed rewriting a story that already existed. She’s in third grade and has written stories, plays, and other things since she learned how to write. I feel a curriculum that will encourage and allow her to be more creative in her writing will help her thrive but I also want one that will set her up to be a great writer. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance! ❤

    • @TheEclecticHomeschooler
      @TheEclecticHomeschooler  Год назад

      I’ve heard that from other people as well. Seems like people either love or hate IEW. Check into WriteShop. We liked Writing & Rhetoric but have only used the first level so far. Bravewriter is another option that some people love.

    What happens if we decide after a few years the kids go back to school? How do they check that they don't fall behind?

    • @TheEclecticHomeschooler
      @TheEclecticHomeschooler  2 года назад +1

      It depends on what your state requirements are. They may have your kids do an assessment test or have you submit records or samples of their work. You'd need to check with you school district if that's something that you're concerned about, then you'd know for sure. But in reality, homeschooled kids usually test higher than public school kids, so the likelyhood of that happening is slim as long as they're being consistent in learning.
