You as a learner or a driver must understand what is give way and stop line and open and closed junction. The meaning of give way line is to give way to traffic on the main road, and it also means if it's clear to go then you should go and not stop. So when approaching a junction with a give way line you should look early and if safe you should go. Only stop if not safe to go.

Just like you decide when crossing the road. Just have to make sure others don't slow, stop or change direction because of you.
