Easy Method for Planting Purple Potatoes

  • Welcome back friends! Today, we are planting purple potatoes using the Back to Eden method. This consists of placing your seed potatoes on grass, covering them in a foot of bark chips, and thoroughly watering the whole thing. Supposedly, the grass dies under the thick mulch covering, which provides a nitrogen boost for the potatoes.

    Since the grass is compacted below the wood hips, I might have loosen the soil a little bit to encourage tubers to spread easier. Great work n look forward to your results.

    whats a few months?? ive got my first plants going and im planning to harvest July since I planted late March. but im wondering how to store for January next year. Purple taters dont have the long shelf life like the other varietys so just wondeing how long of a shelf life.. lol.. thanks for sharing..

    I can easily grow potatoes but these fire ants pop out of nowhere and eat them overnight

    What type of bark chips? Hardwood or soft wood?
