Rock and Roll is its own entity. Even separate from "Rock", "Rock-A-Billy", "Hard Rock", "Soft Rock". You are right on Sir, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not that. Change the name.
That’s the worst kept secret ever just about. I think we knew that for quite a while now. All those rapper and r&b people past the 70’s don’t belong there.
That looks like a Promise Keepers shirt. I attended more than a few conferences back in the mid to late 90's as a young Christian. I went to Philly, Syracuse, DC twice (one being the march on the mall), Worchester and I think a couple others. Philly was at the old Veterans stadium.... Memories...
Keep talking about Christian music. I am very interested. As a Christian singer/songwriter, your faith in God and your stand for Christ, among other things, are what drew me to your old and new channel. I also like your take on all the music that should be played on mainstream radio but isn't. So thanks.
Be Bop Jazz - another huge genre in the 50s, crooner music, many styles that were big in the 50s that could not fairly be called rock ‘n’ roll. Good video.
It’s all part of a larger agenda to water down to the point that is unrecognizable any of our traditional institutions or even shared cultural concepts. A good question for this Sykes guy would be “what wouldn’t you consider rock ‘n’ roll?”.
The Rock Hall directors are quite arrogant and condescending, aren't they? Btw, did I mention that Alex Lifeson's induction speech was my favorite? The audience loved it! 😊
Happy New Year Dave! I'm sure this will never happen but if one of the old school rockers out there were to buy the Rock Hall then the problem would be fixed. Until then, I don't really care. I'll continue to get a few good laughs as they continue to induct all manner of popular non-rockers into the hall.
There is this thing in Nashville called the Country Music Hall of Fame for performers such as Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. They don't belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I don't see the Country Music Hall of Fame inducting Metallica. That place seems to have the right idea. There are deserving artists that have yet to be inducted into the CMHOF. At least, it's about country music. The RRHOF is all over the place.
Now I understand why David Coverdale fired him in Whitesnake before the 1987 self-titled release Dave. Granted, his guitar playing on that cd was second to none, but he is just talking out of his rear end. So done with this stuff. Happy New Year 2025
RNRHOF is a joke and everyone knows it. I went there in 2023 it was pretty cool because I like Rock & Roll memorabilia but trying to tell people what Rock & Roll is when it's been a well-established genre with many sub-genres for many decades further kills their credibility. But hey, they're the smart ones. They know better than us peons who bought the records, went to the concerts and wore the T-shirts. I remember Rolling Stone hated the big hard rock and prog rock bands of the day. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Yes, ELP. Pink Floyd seldom ever got good reviews in Rolling Stone, but the people supported their favorite bands anyway. Now they back track and acknowledge the greatness of bands like Led and Sabbath. The fans knew all along.
Changing people's view of what rock and roll is. Oh no, utterly destroyed from within by one of the former guitar gods. 2025 is off to a great start. I was wondering why the, variety hits stations, were coming back recently. Ben, bob, steve, jack, frank, tom, y102, wogl etcetera.
Happy New Year, Dave. You say “all right” at the beginning of every video, but you commonly then go on about things you think are not all right. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame does not matter, and it makes no sense to get worked up over it. I did a college radio “yacht rock” special 20 years ago. That was a cool Justin Hayward “induced” quote. I have lots of Guy Lombardo and Frank Sinatra CDs and records. You said Dolly Parton does not have rock and roll enzymes. Her latest album “Rockstar” has more rock material and rock affiliations than any other “blatant country” artist album I’ve ever encountered before. I’d be fine with your getting political; heck, your getting religious did not scare me away. You hate to use the word “propaganda”? But they were a great German group! Then you say Dolly Parton is “just not rock and roll.” Would you like to be the one to tell John Fogerty, Joan Jett or Brian May that their songs on her latest album were not rock? I feel like you’ve mentioned Steve Perry many hundreds of times, but you’ve never mentioned the late great reggae musician producer Lee “Scratch” Perry. I know a certain dog who also reminds me that sometimes things can only get better. You said Steve Perry needs to get out on the road before it’s too late. He needs to keep doing things he wants to do in his private life before it’s too late. He’s already entertained millions of fans on the road. What he does now is his business and his needs; he knows best. I hope you have the Christ centered new year you wish to have and I hope I will not be urged anymore to get religious. Blessings to you and yours.
I hope everyone has a better year.
No Jethro Tull, no Grand Funk Railroad, no Steppenwolf, no Three Dog Night, NO CREDIBILITY

No BOSTON no SURVIVOR That place is a joke!

Hall has no credibility without Styx, REO Speedwagon, Boston and Kansas. Not even a sniff for these great bands,
these bozo's on the hall of shame committee don't know diddly sqat about music !
Dont forget Buddy Holly as 50's Rock n Roll
Happy New Years Dave !!! To you and yours!!

Happy New Year H.D.

So far, those conservators have proven themselves to be poor at their jobs.
I thought this was guitarist John Sykes. This other guy is talking nonsense. This is why the hall of fame became this way.
Happy New Year!!! 🎆🥳
Finally someone went to the store and bought a CLUE!
"We're gonna Live for Ever, we're Cross that River ,we're gonna catch Tomorrow now...." Billy Joe Shaver

Thanks Dave. And…Little Feat.
Yea of course Stray Cats. Anybody for the great Styx and Grand Funk Railroad??

Ask Mr. Sykes, "When Joan Jett sang 'I Love Rock And Roll' what exactly did she mean? Any music whatsoever that was in the jukebox?"
I understood the other candidate well. That's why I did not vote for her. I'll just say that.
Why Isn't There a Rap/ Hip Hop HOF ? They could Put all the cRAP in There and Leave Bad Enough alone
First time seeing your channel . Enjoyed the Vid .

GRAND FUNK!
I found Devon Ivie’s entire interview from Vulture with John Sykes very interesting and informative.
Rick n Roll Hall of Fame? What’s that? 💯🤣✌️
It’s certainly not Nina Simone. The Hall is a joke now. Irrelevant. I pay no attention anymore.
Now I understand why David Coverdale fired him in Whitesnake before the 1987 self-titled release Dave. Granted, his guitar playing on that cd was second to none, but he is just talking out of his rear end. So done with this stuff. Happy New Year 2025
I guess all the fans out here are just “stupid” and we don’t know anything!👎👎👎
Dave, do you know if any music is happening with Brian Duncan or Crystal Lewis, these days ?
No foghat , no grand funk , no j geils ect. And they want money for inductions. Loony tune hof 😂 place is a joke to me. Ruined the foreigner induction
