I agree with you when the units are in parallel and the user requests 120V A/C both of the two units should work as a team and all the stored DC battery reserves from both of the two units should work together as a team and deplete their DC reserves as a team. But they don't. Your statement that its only when both units are in parallel and the user requests 240V A/C that the two unites work as a team and deplete their DC reserves together in tandem is how they should also be designed to function when both unites are placed in parallel and the user is requesting 120V A/C. The displays not showing "time remaining" is unacceptable. Humans equate with the unit of measure called "time" not the unit of measure "percent". I like how you mentioned using a gasoline generator to input (charge) these energy storage devices. I call that technique "hybrid mode" and prefer it to solar generator mode. Those two units' total cost along with a gasoline generator (hybrid mode) or using the solar panels is getting darn close to 1/2 the cost including installation of an entire home back up LP fueled generator that can supply an entire home! Of course, you can't go camping with the LP fueled entire home backup generator, but I don't think these two Bluetti's or Eco Flows are designed to be used for mobile camping.

That's simply not possible, given that the units are connected only at the output side of each invertor. When you have it setup to deliver 240v and you have a load that uses only 120v you're drawing from one phase, off one battery.
To have it the way you describe would require the battery power to be pooled before the connection to the invertors.

I agree, Bluetti has done a great job with their design! The Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series is also a fantastic option for outdoor enthusiasts and RV owners. It offers massive capacity, super fast recharging, and comprehensive protections. Plus, its smart app control feature is really convenient. Both brands provide quality options for home backup power. For over a year Bluetti touts the strong microprocessor and online updates. They should be able to combine the battery power drain from both units to power one or more loads through the combiner box. Reviewers who plugged the introduction weren’t often given two units and the box for testing and comments. So you are one of the few if not the first to present connection and use of the combiner box on RUclips.
It shouldn’t be hard to test your hypothesis to find out whether or not the drain of only one EP 500’s battery (both standard and pro units?) will complete to its lowest limited discharge parameter before the system switches to begin drawing from the other EP 500 (std/pro). Since the full (2x2000W-std, or 2x3000W-pro) inverter output is supposed to be delivered through the combiner box, I agree that you would think that batteries would not be draining sequentially. Any option for simultaneous drainage would synchronize and reduce the rate of discharge for each battery. (I wonder how Eco-Flo handles that when two battery packs are combined and placed under load from different starting charge levels?)
What if you use the charge and discharge limitation setting to vary the maximum AC charge to 80% on both batteries or to an unequal percentage?Likewise, what if you set parameters differently on the maximum allowed % of discharge limitation? What if the limitation is 90% on one battery for maximum charge and 70% on the other, limiting discharge to 30% on the first battery and 20% on the second battery? Does the passive battery drain before the master?
How will the system handle such instructions? Or will the system use the limit settings on the unit designated as master to control the passive unit?
I think it isn’t possible for each EP 500 even with the split phase combiner to allow charging from a single solar string simultaneously into both batteries. If that’s the case with solar, each pack will likely be charged to a different % of capacity since the two solar strings aren’t likely to output equally.
Have you had any experience with different performance or features following an update?
It would be neat if you could do a 110/220V load and capacity test on your split-phase combination system.
I hope you can build your channel with such an informative and instructional approach as you are taking here. For owners or potential buyers of these units your patient and detailed explanation will go a long way to help them get the most out of the system. I hope you keep your units and can show them to us in use as a UPS and as a grid tie system if that is in your plan. Most RUclips presenters just get a sample, sell it, and move on without fully exploring the capabilities and connections available to a owner.
Have you reached out to Bluetti with your discharge question?
Thank you for taking the time to produce this detailed video!

240 volts? Impressive! some may say it's pricey but compared to a premium generator but it depends what are your needs. If you need 240 volts, that's when it gets expensive. I could probably use a single unit which as one gets older, a unit like that, it's easier to operate. I like the options of charging the battery via three ways.
