For Celosia, I feel like they should have just swapped it with Sirius (Boar) while keeping the entire level and Battle to be the same. One more issue with Celosia is that it looks too much like a recognisable Animal. It looks like a Lion. Phaedra faced something similar, as it was based on a Horse, but with its Crab-like feet and immense size, it still looked different. Making the Boar run into objects to make it fall makes more sense as well. Its design was very defence heavy, with solid blocks of Armour, instead of Spiky protrusions. Not sure why they didn’t think of that. Fumito Ueda is well known for scrapping an idea entirely instead of making considerable changes to make it happen. Maybe the devs thought having two similar looking Colossi would work better as balance, since there are 3 Minotaur Colossi, and 3 Serpentine like Colossi.
Yeah, it definitely would’ve been interesting to see how Sirius would’ve played in the final version. Maybe we can eventually see that if they ever decide to release a new version of SOTC that includes the early designs that the developers intended to make an appearance. Who knows…
Damn super unique list. It pains me to see Phalanx and Malus not reach too high as they are my favourites but its super cool to see sometime with such a different take.

Also going onto your comment of "the opened way" playing for phase 2 originally it seemed the unused soundtrack "Final Battle" was supposed to be played originally but got cut out for some reason

ok why do people hate how the two small guys are similar meanwhile nobody talks about argus and barba being extremely similar: they are literally minotaur B and C in the dev notes. glyphs in basically the same places as well (head, torso, hand)
It all just comes down to personal opinions at the end of the day! A colossi that I might find enjoyable, you might find annoying. A colossi that you might find enjoyable, I might find annoying. And that’s totally fine if you disagree with me! But I will admit, it has been a couple years since I last played this game so my opinions in this video are bound to change. I would like to make an updated list at some point in the future as there were some rankings I made that I might not agree with much anymore. Exactly! I understand people have their opinions but what makes a game interesting is if there is a challenge involved. Was he difficult to figure out? Yes! Does that make him a bad colossus? Of course not! And it’s exactly like you mentioned, he’s the 2nd to last colossus encounter so of course the challenge is most certainly warranted! I feel like if they had just gotten a bit more creative with Malus, then maybe he could’ve topped Argus position on my list. But unfortunately, they didn’t…😔

The real Evis is the Unused final boss, Hogroma, it was a Cut colossus, since final battle wasn’t as a good final boss song as Demise of the Ritual Was. If Hogroma was Still in the Game, Then Buddha Would’ve Been a Developer name
Yeah, I never knew too much about the scrapped final boss of this game but it wasn’t until recently that I had found out that there was one. I actually had never known until now that it’s name was Hogroma which is interesting. Some of the other cut colossi it seems were just now getting confirmed names, like the Monkey colossus I believe was named Saru. Would’ve been interesting to see how that early final boss would’ve played as well. There’s nothing wrong with Demise of the Ritual itself, I just wish that they threw in some other tracks as well. I did actually get to listen to that Final Battle track you mentioned because someone actually made a video replacing The Opened Way in Argus’ battle with that said OST. There’s actually quite a few tracks that were removed from the game which is all pretty interesting. But again, while all the SOTC music is magnificent I just wish that some music placements had been adjusted a little better.

I like cenobia. To me it’s the best battle. Also, you can skip all the towers. And just have him drop the last one. I dread Basaran. He’s my least favorite.

Yeah, I only prefer Celosia more over Cenobia mainly due to the fact that I found the fight less frustrating. I just found Cenobia most disappointing towards the end of the game in my opinion. I’ll admit, looking back on this list I don’t hate Cenobia as much as I had said I did in this video (which if I ever make an update in the future you’ll see why) but I still consider it to be one of the worst fights in the game personally. I’ve actually considered going back and updating this list for a future video as some of my opinions here have changed a bit regarding certain colossi. Personally though, even if Agro isn’t required for Phaedra’s fight I still think it’s the worst one in the game for me.

No worries! I get where you’re coming from. Being honest, this video was tough to put together so mistakes like that were bound to happen. Not only was it a struggle to figure out where I should rank all 16 colossi but at the time of recording this video I also was really sick with COVID. If you listen to my voice during my voiceover on Argus you might could tell by how congested my voice sounded. I think at some point in the future, I’m going to do an update on my ranking list and fix certain spots where I feel they should no longer be. For example: instead of putting Phalanx at number #7, I would actually move it to the top 5 as I’ve really come to appreciate it more. With that being said, thanks for taking the time to watch my video and comment. It really does help me out!
I’ve always thought Argus should’ve been the final encounter, in a game where you take down beasts 20x your size it’s quite a dissapointment to see such an underwhelming final boss. Not like Malus isn’t cool it’s just kind of ‘meh’ for me
I agree as well! Argus is also one of the only colossi that has a unique soundtrack. Not like Malus didn’t either, but I personally think Argus’s is better overall!
@The Dreadful Reaper yeah that's fair. The main reason I really like cenobia is the fact that I really like the concept, visuals, and the gameplay. I think it is one of the most unique bosses in the entire game. I also never had any of the ai issues personally, so that may be why I like them more
True! I’ve also heard that the type of A.I issues and climbing problems depend on which version of the game you play. For me personally, I’m mostly familiar with the PS4 remake! I have played the PS2 version a long time ago but I was EXTREMELY young and wasn’t even remotely ready for a type of game like this. As for the PS3 version, that’s the only one that I have yet to play!

Pretty much all the lists I’ve seen always trash it for the reasons I mentioned which I think is really unfair. Sure, I get it’s not everyone’s favorite colossus definitely but in my opinion it really should’ve been the last colossus you fought to be honest.
I’ve actually never played that version but would absolutely love to at some point. (Same for the PS2 version even though I have played it, just never owned an original copy) plus I still need to play ICO and The Last Guardian as I’ve heard that all three stories are somewhat connected in a way.
Yeah! Well maybe at some point they’ll decide to bring back ICO for the PS4 as I think that’s the only one of the three that has yet to be brought back for newer consoles (asides from the PS3 of course)
In my opinion, basaran is by FAR my LEAST favorite colossi, and its mainly because the DAMN FIGHT IS HORRIBLE. Its so frustrating! Especially wheniver i try to speedrun the game

Yeah, sometimes I found trying to make it get close enough so you can climb it a bit tedious. But overall, not a horrible fight!
