Saludos...!!
Your work has inspired my youngest daughter and myself to start up an in-home jewelry business. I have not done any jewelry designs in years, but now that I'm out of work it's a great time to fall back into it. We plan to move to Washington state where rockhounding is free and any gems found we plan to cut ourselves. Metal scrapping has always been something I've done with broken computers and electronics. Now to just setup a studio to do it all (metal purification, smithing, and gem cutting). Your work has greatly influenced not just my desire to go back into jewelry making, but also my 9 year old in her goals of a career. Thank you,
+Cynthia Luttrell Am I that I should like to thank you, your comments help me to grow and improve. I wish you to have all the satisfaction that this work can give you.
Been watching all kinds of jewellery videos. Learning about 'casting' but they are just not as satisfying, or as fascinating as your 'handmade from scratch' way! Working with the metals makes them _come alive!_ You don't have to say a word either. You do a great job at showing the layman why, and how you are doing things! Thanks for sharing your talent Alberto!!
I've made jewelry in a rough workshop (from coins and such) but I'm taking a class over the summer to learn the finer art of it. This is quite informative and entertaining. I'd love to one day be able to make a quality piece like this.
I worked in the Gold Mines here in Australia for 16 years. The alluvial Gold was almost pure taken off a Wilfry table but most was extracted using electrowinning and smeltering into 40 kg bars. The most I poured was 143 kg in one week. First time I've seen how Gold is used in hand made Jewelry well worth an optic cheers
Did like your Video. 45 years since I started my trade as a Precious Gem Setter. Have seen many gifted jewellers hand making settings over the years but one thing, we don't call them prongs in Australia or in England where I worked for a while. Claws
Great work... what I like about this is that it was created with simple hand tools... and a big bag of skill/ experience. I don’t have either.... yet...
Just a couple of questions: Doesn't filing the claws against the stone scratch it? When you solder parts together when the stone is set, doesn't it affect the stones? Thanks for the great videos!!
It depends on the properties of pierte. Some stones are extremely harsh, diamond and corundum, they do not mark with metals can only chip. the stones themselves if they have no inclusions or treatments are resistant to very high temperatures. with other type stones beryls have to pay more attention, with the other type kianite must pay close attention being very tender.
Thank you for the reply! Very interesting! I would've thought that the file could scratch the diamond, but it makes sense that it would chip rather than scratch if not careful. Also being heated with inclusions being a problem makes sense.
Wow so much work. I always wonder what you do with the gold dusts coming off from the filing. Do you collect them and melt into metal again. How do you prevent contamination from other metals on the workbench?
could you make a semi-complicated ring without any special power tools? I have a blacksmiths workshop but i'd like to start looking deeper into jewelry is there a video on your channel already? or would you recommend anyone?
Rings produced in my videos do not require special styling tools, course, files, cutters pliers etc are small in proportion to the work produced. If you have manual dexterity with metals I think you should not find it particularly difficult to make some of the rings, which are in my videos. First I suggest a plain band that you can enrich with the motif on the surface
Man you're videos never stop blowing me away with your skills! How u made that setting at the start was extraordinary!!. Will u teach me? I.would love that!! Great videos as always
Hello! How much(weight) of gold do you use there. I`m planning to make the same design but with Platinum and with 0.8ct gem. As I want to order the ring to the jeweler, so I don`t get screwed up. Big thanks.
I told my wife to be I would make her a ring,to save time and easier format ,I will make it on a larger scale,a belt buckle with large stone,it show my love for my wonderful woman ,thank for the idea
I know what they keep saying about this Tiffany movie, but it never clicks in my head to that extent, she seem to have worked as a professional secretary or something before she took her acting job. my mother used to love that rule for her as the blind woman in the house that was left alone and was attacked by thieves. It is nice to see so much struggle to say, she had a neglective husband!
Thanks for sharing your work! It's incredibly fun to watch. Do you have any process of recovering the filings / gold dust that accumulates from cutting and sanding? I've always wondered how much accumulates after months of work.
Thanks, In the movie using a small lathe, and to set them, and I use the engine and styling tools the company FARO, www.faro.it/it/prodotti/strumenti/manipoli/
At minute 10:28 they just jump cut from a barely put together to a polished ring with the diamond already set. Is this even the same ring? Diamond set looks entirely changed.
Scaffoal, as always, amazing work! Love your videos. Can you please le me know how do you do the math to end up with the size of the plate that you cut at the beginning? the half moon size that you cut to make the cone. I imagine you have a 6 mm diamond, but I have no clue how do you do that math, is it just guessing? If it is just guessing, congrats! You are an amazing jeweler, a great professional.
Theoretically using the formula to find the diameter of the circle, diameter x 3.14, then you have to consider what the thickness steals. I tend to be abundant, and then remove the unnecessary. an empirical method is to create a cone with a piece of paper and cut where it rests the stone, once opened, we found the shape of the cone
Question: wouldn't it be a hella lot safer to use a placeholder stone to finish the prongs, and then remove it to place in a real diamond? To me it looks like a lot of unnecessary danger for that diamond... I am not of the business so I am quite curious :D
Amazing skill you've got there, dude. The ring turned out absolutely perfect. But I think that editing-wise the video would be more relaxing and overall better if the sounds of you working were not masked by the music
Thank you for the video you're right, I try to improve slowly. The problem was the poor lighting that has forced me to use a wide aperture, hence a limited depth. In the last video I tried to improve the lighting by increasing the depth.
0.8ct (0.16 grams), Internally Flawless (IF), Near Colorless (G), $4,800+ for that Diamond. That's how much it costs. Nice video. I really would like to work with my hands like the countless people I see on RUclips that do these videos. I could start with just fine silver, but the things I would need cost money, would take me months to buy the things.. I only have a jewelers saw with 1/0 blades, and a few hammers, and half round pliers. Where do you buy your materials from? RioGrande? That's where I bought my jewelers tools from.. I'd need a torch, dapping block and a few other things.. But yeah, could take me a few months to get the things. I sure as hell don't have a lathe, but I see that they have micro lathes for like $400 - $600. Really nice work, thanks for sharing. (+1 : 145)
MARK 1 The tools we buy from "Legor Group SpA" and "Luigi dal Trozzo" who have the catalog online. For gold in Italy there are companies that deal with the purification and trade of pure gold called "banchi metallo".
sir!! a couple of months is nothing compared to a lifetime of making beautiful things! I'm collecting tools to and I don't care how long it takes....I hope you will keep right on going.
the price depends on the mounted diamond, the one in the video I think it was about 60 carat points. With a stone so the price can vary from 1100 to 4000 euros depends on the characteristics of the diamond in addition to its weight of 60 carat points
Well, I am not racist..but I am selective... And I am glad to see how this us DONE but I think it is not the ring FOR me, but thank you for sharing.. your work.
scaffoal Is the gold your using dead soft, or is it 1/4 hard..? I wanna do this.. Seems that's all that RioGrande sells is dead soft precious metals.. another really nice video. Thanks. (+1 : 145)

I always wondered how rings were hand made! You're very talented, it's an amazing transformation from a small gold bar to a piece of artwork.
Thanks a lot

Have retipped ring with emeralds, warm veery slowly and cover with small ring box to cool down when finished. Keep fingers crossed
Beautifully done. Great talent

thank you
fantastico!!!! genial !!! que trabajo minucioso

Is that a 20 degree setting you make for the diamond ? How thick was the sheet you cut it from ? Thanks
Wow♡ truly stunning you are so talented amazing to watch Thankyou X 😊
Thanks you
Thank u..... x
Wow so much work. I always wonder what you do with the gold dusts coming off from the filing. Do you collect them and melt into metal again. How do you prevent contamination from other metals on the workbench?
If you no longer have the certainty of quality, it melts, is purified, after which it can start over again. The purification process has low costs.
I like it! thank you for sharing your wonderful skills.

May I ask what is the tool you are using at 10:31 to make the claw hold the diamond?

What are the advantages of making your own prong? I don't see how many variations there can be for a prong to make it truly distinct..or am I way off?

WOW-WOW-WOW - You are very very very good.
Thanks-thanks.thanks
Amazing Talent WOW I'm impressed

Hello!
How much(weight) of gold do you use there. I`m planning to make the same design but with Platinum and with 0.8ct gem. As I want to order the ring to the jeweler, so I don`t get screwed up.
Big thanks.
For this model requires at most 8/9 grams of platinum
Hello again!
And how much should cost the work, to make such kind of a ring out of platinum(I`m located in Germany)?
bisitis of manufacturing it costs 250 EUR plus taxes
I am curious as to why you don’t do lost wax castings for these simple designs?
super job! thank you so much for sharing! great!!!
Thanks

width and hight of the ring? so i can get a proportion of how it is? :)
oh nice job well done....
thank you
Ooh I love it hey
where did you get the diamond from?
The diamonds in Italy and throughout the world are marketed through operators specialized in their trade.
As a girl, all I can think about it how awesome it would be to be married to someone who could do this. I could have all the custom rings I want.
Careful, we have a saying that says: The shoemaker's wife goes with the shoes hole
Favoloso solitario Tiffany.prezzo,,?

It's the same ring, I polished the top before embedding the diamond

WOW!!!! AMAZING!!!
Thanks
REALMENTE HERMOSO‼‼😷🤪🤔🙉🌄
¡Muchas gracias!
excellent job, just one detail you are not supposed to flush the solder at the base of the ring because it will steal brightness to the diamond.
Ok thanks

Thanks, For many reasons, diamonds are mounted like this. It is very difficult for a professional to damage a round brilliant cut diamond.

thanks
Good job
thank you
How about the price for this ring?
for all information you can contact info@scaffoal.it
I really like you videos. Deeply satisfying, but you really need a better camera. The closeup focus is really poor.
Keep up the nice wok!
Thank you for the video you're right, I try to improve slowly. The problem was the poor lighting that has forced me to use a wide aperture, hence a limited depth. In the last video I tried to improve the lighting by increasing the depth.
