Cheeky review, glad you liked it! As you said perfectly yourself, Wicker Man has done wonders for Alton Towers - both in terms of line-up and getting people back to the park :)
@@CoasterStudios Why didn't you like Steeplechase? (Personally, I would have prefered that over West Coast Racers {West Coast Racers is too much of a thrill ride. I think a family coaster would be better}).
Harrison Schneider Steeplechase is awful. Every time we go it’s a battle with the missus... She’s just gotta ride the horsies... I just wanna survive the day uninjured. Have had some fun moments on it, but we make those moments, not the ride, it’s bloody awful.

It’s themed to the wicker man not wood. Watch the film it’s based off of (1970s version not the Nicholas cage one) it’s relatively harrowing and you then know what the hells going on
Well, I mean, it's not like the movie didn't take its idea from the old druidic ritual. I'd say that they based it more off of the original thing than the 1970's movie itself and only. Especially considering where Alton Towers is located. @@xVx_Krt_xVx_KillMe
@@Padsquad2010 I'd say Taron is a better themed ride than Everest and Mission two. The only ride I think that will compete with Tarons theming is Escape from Gringotts at USO.
well, there IS real fire, but it is only turned on at certain times of the day and year (It comes off of the shoulders as the train passes through the structure)
I agree completely. The look and theming and the impeccable detail that went into building it is what really stands out to me. I've seen videos and pictures of this coaster at night and it's even more amazing looking than in the daytime, especially the fire and smoke effects shining out through the wood of the wicker man. It's a family coaster, but honestly, it's also kind of a work of art too.. at least to me it is.
And it would be funnier if the Nicolas Cage animatronic yelled out, "You bitches!!! You bitches!!! Killing me won't bring back your goddamn honey!", as it's legs are broken by a sledgehammer.
I got the amazing opportunity to ride this last summer, and it was awesome! I already knew about the pre-show, but the projected wicker man head still surprised me because of how massive it was.
Good to hear you liked the wicker man! Next year can you and Shaun do like a colab at a theme park a bit like the one you did at cedar point but longer!! Great video, keep up the good work,👍
Collosos at Heide Park in Germany got reworket in 2019 and it also has some pretty nice theming that would also be a good competitor sry for my bad english im from Austria :)
The complaint about the sunglasses is a bit of a moot point because here in the UK we rarely get any sun during the summer anyway. Summer 2018 when you visited was the exception to the rule!
I went on Wickerman as my first Alton towers coaster (yes before runaway mine train) and I was lucky enough for front row. I loved it but when my photo came out, you couldn’t see me because my uncle had his hands up in front of me and I was holding onto my lap bar.😂
Bruh, the wooden coasters in China have like no theming at all. I mean, look at these names: Wood Coaster Jungle Trailblazer Time Travel (Not the spinner at Silver Dollar City) Python In Bamboo Forest Jungle Flying Dragon See? No need to compare Wicker Man’s theming to any coaster in China. It’s only competition would be Wodan at Europa Park
Hayden Minton You have to remember that the names have a different effect when in their original language, like it can sound crap in english but it Chinese it may sound better
Alton Towers is my local park and I really think that it has attracted more guests to the park which is good because lots of people were put off from going there after the incident on the smiler.
Wicker Man is by far my favourite here- fully agree with the back seat comment. First time riding I got front row, and then I ended up with row 12 second time round. It was my favourite on park already, but the back row just sealed it for me. Just an all round amazing ride 😍
I was so pleasantly surprised by this ride. I didn't think much of it getting on because i thought how great can a wooden coaster be? But damn i had so much fun, I'd reccomend it to anyone
I wish I rode it at dusk before all the orange lights came on, alas I was just minutes too late. Gotta wait till next Scarefest now (and travel 1500 miles). Bagged a cheeky front row ride with the lights on though ;-)
I went on this just very recently and it is *not* smooth right now, but honestly that probably makes it even better. It feels more like it's trying to kill you, which is 100% within theme, and it's not so bad that it's unbearable. I also caught a back seat ride at the end of a wet day and damn does it haul some ass; the banking drop after the second tunnel is great. The airtime isn't too strong but the positive Gs are (as with most Alton Towers coasters). Also, it has real fire right now I think. I hope it doesn't get much rougher but it's pretty amazing in its current state, definitely just became my dark horse favourite of the park, very re-rideable.
Theming is incredible on this thing. Although, I kind of feel like Alton have a tendency to choose really dark themes for family coasters (th13teen and WM).. seems like a bit of a mis-match. Nevertheless, a great addition to the park for sure.
Is it bad that wickerman is probs my favrouite ride on park atm, without gettinf technical I literally just find it really fun, espeacially at night the whole experience is something else

Same here! The fact it’s classed as a family ride blows me away! It’s quite intense on the front & back, there’s some serious g’s on those turns! comparable with any other ride at the park.

Every Roller Coaster is the most intense ride for me, even the little Kiddie Coasters. I just have this penchance for vertigo and dizziness so you just put me in a vehicle higher than a fence and I'm going to be freaked out. I would make this Wicker Man caster more intense by my reactions to it.

I don't think you need to specify that Iron Maiden, one of, if not the most popular NWOBHM bands is English lmao
But if I got stuck in a long queue I’d be wanting to encase the entire band in their own wicker men, I do like them but would eventually drive me mad.
