Thanks for letting me drive it the other day!🤙🏽
Yeah man. Much thanks for your help.
Redcat’s knocking it out of the park in 2023 with new releases, and all awesome stuff too
I love how excited you are about this car. My fiancé and I have a couple awd Mini Z drifters, but are complete noobs. But I want to get into 1/10. Thinking about this car, MST, or Yokomo
In my Opinion i think its great that we have such a variety of cars in the RTR scene as not everyone has the time, skill, patience, room, etc etc for kit assembly as there are many facets of kit building/painting/decals/cutting lexan/masking/wiring and the list goes on, so hats off to red-cat and giving us yet another choice in RTR and also being something for a whole new range of users ,also thanks to rc review for the video 🙂
Great review! When I first saw that Redcat was coming out with a RTR rwd drift car I expected it wasn't going to be very good. I'm happy to see I was wrong. With a good radio and some better tires this looks like a great platform to get people into drifting. If you are looking to do upgrades the first thing I would get is a sensored motor and an esc with boost/turbo and for gyro, the Futaba GYD470 is really good.
Fun to see your take on this! I was fortunate enough to get it in pre-release as well.
Very jealous you took yours to the track! I was afraid of infringing on the NDA if I did that!
Yeah man, I get there on a slow day and many people know me from crawling. I told a couple folks about it but no cameras. Just can't have any social media leaks. I could have said nothing and it would have been more discrete. But i really needed help :)
@@RCReviewChannel Glad it worked! You got great footage.
Looks Good Brother! Good Job REDCAT
Right on
I asked first #1st for you to review rc drift cars … yes thank you 😊.. I can’t wait to see some comparisons.. keep’um rolling
More to come!
RDS = Redcat Drift (S)eries?
Excellent review! your honest opinion is what makes this channel so special. 🎉
I appreciate that!
Great review man! I just started too i got an mst rmx rtr and it’s pretty fun! But Redcat is onto something!
It really is!
I really like the body. It looks great!
Drift adventure begin
Cool rc category
Yes. Redcat drift series
Cool running footage...testing getting your feet wet. Going to be alot of new people getting into the drift seen with a RTR car from a brand that draws newcomers👍 Will be my 1st drifter. I'll be reppin the Stock body with LED's
I might have to get one and see what it does after changing a few things
Wow looks really nice. Great vid as always.
Looks like a lot has changed in the last 15 years! Really curious how these RWD Gyro equipped cars handle compared to the shaft driven 4WD Yokomo's of the past. We thought one-way shafts were the bee's knee's back then!
These are legit! Very smooth and precise because of the crazy steering angles an the gyro capabilities
Compare it to buying your first crawler, yes you can buy parts to make it a bit easier to handle but if you just enjoy it as it is your skill will improve faster and you will get to a point where driving it yourself will tell you what to change.
Redcat drift series 👌
You know what? At the beginning I thought: ok there is carbon but... the price is too high. Then, after seeing the video, I have to say that the technical level is very hight and price decreases immediately. I'm not a drifting enthusiast but this is as top level product! Ciao, Nanni
Drifting like a trooper Francis, and the drift track looked amazing 😮 was their anything wrong with the tire that you changed? Yes you can set the gyro from your transmitter, if you have a decent radio...the radio is not a con cause, everybody switch radios. You know that
Yea - most heavy drifters will indeed just add their own RX and upgraded TX. But the body and remote will be the 1st to go.
Also the little detail on the body is - in my opinion - a nice little addition. Almost like a little easter egg homage to the old P-40 war planes "Flying Tigers" with shark teeth. Granted these are more land animal looking - it gives it that "Fighter plane" look still.
its simple...2WD/RWD is drift & AWD/4WD is power sliding. Look at actual Formula Drift Events, ALL cars are RWD & is the rule for drifting.
I don't mind the body, even if it looks like a prototype car. Maybe a bit much on some of the decals that makes it seem a bit busy, but it's personal preference. For the price it looks like a great starter car to get into drifting. I wonder if you changed out the gyro and the tires would it be a good street platform?
interesting. I'll try that.
Excellent man, good first try! I've always been interested in drifting even around 12 years ago, I tried to modify my 1/24th RC truggies then changing the tires making them more slick and slide around but I still don't have the right set up.
I already bought the WLToys 284131 1/28 Hoonicorn truck look alike to play around with and Kevin Talbot thinks that it's a decent small drifter.
Anyways I have a question if I get this RDS and change the transmitter to the Flysky GT5 from my Gen 8 Axe because I have a spare receiver do you think it would work? Thanks
I dig it for sure
A very good review.
The body on these is interesting. Looks like a 240z mixed with a new mustang
where did you find the turntable the car is on. been looking for something like that to put cars on to work on them.
can you use yokomo bodies?
Redcat drift series RDS
The S is actually just an S, it doesn't actually mean anything.
@@ShaneMikula S is for the designer. Shan is his name.
The S is for Shan the designer.
Cool I wish I didn't just get a mst
I was so close to getting one myself. Luckily the 2.5 just wan't available at amain.
@RC Review that's another thing I didn't check and bought the older 2.0 , finding out its the same price and 2.5 transmission is better sucked. I did have to take the transmission apart already, the upgrade 2.5 one is hard to find and too expensive . Cudos to guy who guessed redcat would introduce a drifter
. I think he gets one for free for guessing right , just not sure if I read the comment on thst video
will this body fit on the gen 8?
Maybe gen7
Why?🤷♂️🤯
@@old-rcplane-phart cause i do crazy things.
The last few redcat models ive seen come out definitely look better than a few years ago... the one thing i will say is that their body shells are mostly hideous looking...lol
Cheers
Rc8x is pretty and all but latency is crap since they use the same old protocol as previous radios! I would use something faster.
I personally started with a GT5 then changed to a noble pro, difference was night and day!
This coming from someone who would not believe that radio latency/quality before getting one.
Very good insight and share!!!! So key in drifting
Drop the motor down...get a better radio and yokomo d4 302 gyro...and turn down the motor,
3s not needed at all,you will gain more control, huge tire speed not really needed..
also if you are going to play outside,DS RACING FINIX drift tires, cause them tires are most likely carpet
yes, yes. keep the advice coming. I want to mod and experiment. It will help our viewers as well.
Yes I moved motor on top thought it looked cool but my mst performed better with it down low how it came . Yep 3s it barley does what it supposed too , although I keep trying but 2s it drifts alot better. * I just like the sound of hard wheels spinning on my tile floor lol . . I definitely need to get one of those yokohmo gyros , stock mst one is twiching not really working too good but I really only mess around in my house so I'm not going go crazy . I didn't realize gyro only for drifting till you said so figuring I could use stock one in a speed car or mini t or something ..
@@paulclancy2404 YES YES..I built a mst fxx front motor,,,sits over there >
@@RCReviewChannel too new to get mods yet im betting,,,seems to have be pretty good for the $$$ carbon fiber,,looks like decent shocks,,ive YEAH Qutus shocks...
My MST kit rmx2.0,,,with a quikrun 60 amp/6.5[turned way down35/40%]biggest pinion u can fit[26]/80
yokomo carpets/mst carpets,getting FINIX,and yokomo gyro...protek 130ss,,,so much fun.
So far in all reviews I have seen everyone is struggling to control it
Motor and esc is first to go. I think after that it should be capable to at least make it strong the track smoothly
RDS..redcat drift spec
Mustang400zGTR shell 🤣
