All those beautiful souls dancing with joy, peace, friendship .... how I miss those days.
It exists
In 2022, We need this message more than anything. Two and half decades since he left us, Jerry still lives on.....
No fucking joke buddy 😎✌️
I'll never forget the day Jerry passed. Now going into 2023 is going to be an interesting ride...
long live Jerry🚩🚩🚩
Jerry's Music will make Him immortal .
touch of grey; ?
nothing went wrong,
just keep livin’❤
Well sung, I'm 75 and a latecomer to GD RIP Jerry
The ultimate song of perseverance. The harder life gets I am always reminded of this song. Thank you mr. Garcia, I have carried your inspiration with me since 1975
Keep on carring
I am so glad I discovered The Dead, there is magic in their music.
I've been on the Bus since the early 80's!
✌💀👍🎸🎼🎵🎶🇺🇸🌹❤
Welcome to the party, brother. I didn't see them live that many times, but I got an early start - saw them play for free in Golden Gate Park around 1967. "Magic" is the right word. Jerry was (is) a supernatural force. Enjoy.
@@briano.1503 77 here right out of high school
Not really this is there only good song.
@@riding4beers889 I very much diasgree
You could tell by their setup that they are playing for the love of the music, everything is calm, cool and natural
2023 and this song comforts and gives me strength after a 30 year of marriage divorce life goes on and I will survive
Yeah! It is now 13 April 2024. It will be a good day, my friend!
Cool to see John Popper back there chillin.
Glad I wasn't the only one to see that!
This was awesome. This was a Bill Graham tribute concert. He died a few days previous to this concert date. 'Touch of Grey' was an encore to this tribute concert.
Jerry Garcia mostrava não estar nada bem no seu semblante nesse show, penso eu que possivelmente isso devia ser consequência da ausência do Bill entre eles.
Soooo. Cool! 🎶
Bill Graham - great baptist preacher
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I worked for Bill. Ate dinner with him once. Worked with the boyz. Good times. Helicopters are dangerous.
This was a memorial concert for Bill Graham who along with his girlfriend, was killed in a Helicopter crash. At the time I lived about a mile from Golden Gate Park, so of course I went. The estimated crowd size was about 300,000 or so, but everyone was really chill. Some cop told me that there were only about 5 arrests.... And MUNI had free busses to the park... Yeah, it was an incredible experience.... Never forget it... ❤❤❤
Took liquid El 10/27/1991 Oakland, Aiko/Mona Gary Duncan and Carlos Santana. Do remember the GG shows. Neil Young Pearl jam 🍄🌁🍄🌊🪘💦🌛⚡🌜🍄
Yes. Present. What a special time we experienced. Amazing
A great band indeed I’m sorry mr Garcia you are not here with us may you Rest In Peace ✌️ and thank you 🙏 sir for the great music 🎼
My uncle Bob was the biggest deadhead ever. Anytime the dead played golden gate park, our whole family went to the show. Watching this feels like it was just a couple of years ago... WE MISS YOU JERRY!
It’s such a pleasure to see the boys in their element!
Last time I saw Jerry was in the late 80s. He wasn't playing with the grateful Dead. It was him and David Grisman. I just remember that large smile he was so friendly we shook hands and he asked me how I'd been. He was just so happy I really believe Jerry love to be traveling around and playing and singing music that was his life I was so saddened by the news of his passing
This was such an awesome day and tribute to Bill Graham. I'll never forget the Otis Spunkmeyer prop plane flying overhead and dropping carnations on the huge crowd. Couldn't tell for awhile what was about to rain down on us and the guy next to me was convinced they were tabs of acid. LOL I miss all these free shows that used to happen at the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park. Crowds of 100,000 were common
I had the great fortune to go to grad school in Berkeley 1969-1972, then found and lived at the Fillmore West 3 nights a week. There, I found the Dead and a philosophy for life that stayed with me for the next 52 years. NOW I'M A TOUCH OF GREY... HI LIAM!
I was at this one- Bill Graham's Dead concert in the park. My one and only opportunity to see an actual free Dead show- loved it.
Me 2🙋♂️👍😎
These folks started a movement that is truly magical still today in 2023. I continue to listen to bands clearly influenced by The Grateful Dead. What a wonderful gift these performances are. They are timeless and will never get old for me. Thanks so much!
I listen to this song on my morning run.
Motivational song and one of many memories. My ex and I were at the Anaheim Stadium concert-event, on my Birthday 7/26/87. It was a hi flying day. Largest Love In. Was flying at super speed for 4 days. Feeling groovy. (Then came the crash) A year later, I was in my first drug rehab. I had oded. Amazing how things changed in a year. Tomorrow will be kicking back an treating it like any other day. Will probably go to my mom's and I favorite restaurant down the street. Also was the last time we had together. Back to work. Somehow, I will survive! We will survive!
Jerry rocks on forever👍🏾
Brent died in 90......missed him. Sounded hollow without him.
Oh, boy -- this is so beautiful in so many ways. Who would ever even think to write a song like this, both in the music and the lyrics? Just the Dead, and yes, you had to be there.
This is a video of peace, love, working through grief and hardship
.I was at this show...awesome👌👍
Huge part of American culture. My favorite Dead song. Garcia could never be replaced.
Every person is unique and can never be replaced. John Mayer is doing a great job, he's a better singer, and probably a better player. But for most people, there's no one like the original.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH not even a dead fan,,,but everyone knows when jerry passed so did the band...
@@tmmoring John is one of the best players ever, its not a crazy thing to say. I prefer Jerrys voice tho, i agree with you on that.
@@tmmoringAs a guitar player who has seen them both live several times and who knows the Dead's music like the back of my hand, I can say that it's not unreasonable to say that John Mayer is a better guitarist than Jerry Garcia. I wouldn't necessarily say that myself, but it's not crazy.
R. I. P. Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead what a long strange trip its been
What song is that line from? Thanks!
@@carolbell8008 "Truckin"
@@davidfreeman7455 Thanks David! Cool! 🌹🎶
Would Love a Dose!
Oh my god, Jerry's facial expression at 6:07 ,priceless. Had to be "the kid" on that funky note. Oh my gosh, love it. Beautiful show. Absolutely priceless.
I noticed too, like wtf was that 🤣
Makes me so sad and happy at the same time rip Jerry 😣🥺🥺🥺
Still gives me goosebumps
This song was good to listen to during the pandemic
plandemic
My boss is a 65 year old dead head and got me into them. This is my favorite jam by them. If only I knew about them when I smoked pot! Hahaha
Never to late to start smoking and continuing listening to the Dead
@@K1EDH Love that soooo much .
LONG LIVE THE DEAD . I WILL BE FINE .
So many songs but always loved this one
Rest in peace 🙏🙏🕊️🕊️ Jerry Garcia🎉🎉🎉🎉
AW
i'm from san francisco and went to this show in GG park..... for Bill Grahms memorial after his helicopter crashed on the way home from him greeting the musicians at a Concord Pavilion show.....just 40 miles away from his Marin County home...... what i noticed here was this show was VERY local free show in the park...... the stage, PA and workers all came for free and did this..... no big corporate touring companies, just local artist from the GD family and scene...... ( also, take note, someone forgot to bring Jerry's effects..... he is using the TWIN/MAC rig clean, no effects :)
Who else loves the instrumental part from :03sec-:44sec ? Instantly puts me in a good mood. Thank you Jerry, Bob, Phil, and the crew.
Whenever I found myself at a Dead show I always felt as if I was at the center of the universe. Nowhere else I'd rather be!
I I always get a hearty and satisfying chuckle at how all the San Fran hippies really came from high and low to the park for this gig
Little did I know the impact this song would have. Rip Jerry, Brian
I saw them July 18th 1989 at Alpine Valley WI! There is a lot of footage from that show here on YT!! What an experience!!
RIP Jerry! You were a great guitar player.
More than just a guitar player!!
I wish I was at that little corner of the world at that time
We will get by
God willin' and the creek don't rise
When I retired from my corporate job a year and a half ago, I stopped shaving and cutting my hair. Now I look sort of like I did 50 years ago, except for a "touch of gray" (well, more than a touch - it's all gray, but I will survive)
49 years old.
one of my favorite songs.
Jerry was wonderful! Peace
Bring peace back it starts with us be a helping hand kind a loving ...peace and love to all
There is something about that part when you see the white woman and black women dancing together that gets to me. Its like in that moment there was no race, no differences, it was just all love and enjoying the music.
John Popper from Blues Traveller behind the band at the 1:26 mark. wearing his trademark vest and hat.
Those were good times. We drove all the way!
My favorite song by the Grateful Dead, I wished Jerry Garcia was still with us.
Thank you so much for reposting this amazing video!
thank you for uploading! love from India :)
Instant smiles when I hear this
seeing Jerry in such a good mood makes my heaer warm.
god damn this just made me sad jerry never got to play a closing OSL set as the legacy act. Wish dude was still here, dead and co is great but I can tell it doesn’t hold a candle to seeing the real thing. Wish I’d been born a decade or two earlier and had been able to experience jerry live ❤thankfully the archives are here for me to binge tho
it's not near the same thing.
This was the Bill Graham memorial. I was at this show, Dead closed with a complete set, but Neil Young played Forever Young with them (not a good match imo) and Fogerty played a few songs with them (good match). Lots of interesting things that day. A fun time.
Never gets old...
THE GREATEST PSHYCADELIC ARTISTS PERFORMERS YOU CAN FIND ♞🔊🕪
1 of the best lyrics and appropriate. I see you you got your fist out, say your peace and get out! Sorry that you feel that way. 😎
This is the theme song of 2024 ✊
hell yes
😍 Anna,Christine&Tinja :D Thanks!
I miss Brent so much 😢 😭 😫!!
RIP JERRY 1995
I miss the 90s so bad!
Me too
Bravo!!!
Bravo indeed!⚡️🔥🌟💥🌟🔥⚡️
I was in California in 85. Saw the Airplane, but not The Dead unfortunately.....
perhaps the dead at their best..who knows
Just love
awesome
Out of all the amazing songs that are in the GD"s catalog you picked this freakin song.....
This is their only good song
OMG this was a sad reunion concert… the atmosphere was heavy and so the playing. RIP Bill Graham and Giovanni Falcone. Best super heroes of the XX th
Realmente é perceptível certa tristeza no semblante do Jerry.
Forever
😊🏴☠️
When Jesus was alive
I called in sick at The Good Guys in Berkeley and went to this concert with about 20 joints. They all got smoked.
R.I.P. Mr.Jerry Garcia
John Popper sighting.
You can see me at 4:13
4:13 a.m or p.m.? And where?
I WILL, Get BY, I will survive!!!
peace
Great to see JG.. legend!
Awesome ✌💞😁
Great memories!
This is every Yuppie Dead head fans favorite song. Ever noticed that?
You bad we all had to grow up.
My opinion is we need a hell of a lot more than this they would be appalled at what we've become its sad
These hippies now runs Silicon Valley.
Watching these performances in retrospect its obvious how weak and enfeebled Jerry was becoming. He can barely carry this vocally. Such a great man, it's hard to watch.
agree
He is carrying it on the guitar pretty well though
Crazy not even 5 years later, he died at a young age but looked easily 20 years older because of his lifestyle.
To be fair he had just turned 49 here and looked 69. But thats all right.
Little do they know that right behind their stage is where the hallucinogenic mushrooms grow wild
Jerry was high as a kite lol R.I.P You are missed!!
I remember spring tour 91 Philly Spectrum
I will get by.
Crazy how much older he looks than 49 years old. So sad how much drugs, obesity, and leading an unhealthy lifestyle all together with his diabetes can age a person. He looks 20 years older. Drugs took his precious life away but we can come back to see a great piece of our musical history thanks to RUclips.
Tragic compared to the Summer 1989 tour
Randomly seeing John Popper, funny
Just listen to the words
May your spiritual guide bless the Grateful Dead. Follow Your Bliss. Research Joseph Campbell.
Watching this , I see a conversation between , A grumpy just got to work Jerry and Robert reminding him why the job needs doing and doing well . And by the End of the conversation Jerry is laughing his head off
Bob up on stage with the JCM800, this must have been during his “shred” years.
