    I remember once I was in a bad mood and yelling at my very young daughter for something I can't remember clearly now. But I do remember an elderly man smiling at me kindly. Maybe he said something too- it was like 24 years ago. But the thing I remember is the kindness in his smile immediately de-escalated my mood and I could see I was behaving badly.

    I'm no expert at handling these kinds of situations, but I think you handled this pretty nice calmly. This really is a big problem that needs to be addressed more to the public. It's really frustrating that these things still happen. We need to know that laws won't change or solve anything like this. Everyone, every individual needs to change their perception.

    Racism under the guise of concern for the welfare of your children. You've never worked with or been around abuse have you? Why do abused women stay with their partners? An abused child will still side with their abusive parent because they know if they don't they'll be punished, and it's their parent, they feel they have too. I've stopped a man punching his wife in the face in public only to have her turn around and attack me. This video is a snippet of what happened, no one but the video owner and the couple know what really happened and to believe either one without knowing all the facts is pointless. We've all seen doctored videos that show one thing, but when the full video or other videos are released it shows the opposite.

    • @bilum

      @Compassionate Citizen as someone with bpd I fully get that. That's why I say aduse without specifying what kind

    • @Dlwr47
      @Dlwr47 3 года назад +3

      @@bilum Bold of you to assume that. I have - unfortunately for the sake of your argument, been around abuse. I've been a victim of it and exposed to it from childhood. So I am very well versed in what abuse can look or sound like, thank you very much.
      Say for arguments' sake, the child was being abused, the couple escalating the situation rather than involving CPS/police would've be pointless and could've resulted in a more dangerous situation for the child when they got home.
      There is no one-mould-fits-all when it comes to parenting and you may not agree with scolding your children but that doesn't make it abuse. You say that we can't assume from a video the whole situation but you are quick to assume that the child is being abused. Pot calling kettle black.
      It's quite obvious from the body language and the tone of the couple that this situation wasn't out of concern for the child. If they were worried the child was being abused by their dad they would not be smirking and acting all entitled, telling him to "go to another town" to abuse them there. Clear case of racism. "Why are you here"; that is not something a person who is involved in a case concerning child abuse would say. It's impertinent to the situation and doesn't help in any way. Yes, you can never assume from a small snapshot the entirety of the situation but you can make educated inferences for yourself, you do have a brain after all.

    • @bilum
      @bilum 3 года назад

      @@Dlwr47 I never stated that this child was abused, I was referring to abuse in general and stating that because something looks one way on a video, doesn't mean that is the way it really was. So there is not pot calling the kettle black ;)
      You're also assuming a lot about "body language" of this couple, if you approached someone because you believed they where mistreating their child and they whipped their phone out acting like that, I'd imagine a lot of us would stand their in bewilderment as to what the hell was happening. Which is what I see when I look at them. Also asking, "why are you here" or "go to another town" DOES NOT mean racism, it could be that they purely don't want that drama or what they perceive as abuse around where they live or are staying. If I've some teenagers hanging around making noise outside and I hang out of the window and say "what are you doing? bugger off somewhere else!" it's not racist, it's a case of telling them to fuck off and take their BS with them. You talk about making assumptions but you're talking out of your arse, you've been told it was racist and you're making it fit instead of keeping an open mind.
      Also, from the video, the behavior of the father and his over-the-top reaction for his youtube views, which is the only reason this was posted in the first place, is the main cause of any potential distress to the child. He could have just walked away with the child but instead created drama and potential damage to the child mentally. You don't keep your child in that situation if he really was feeling threatened, he'd have retreated to safety.
