    Great video. Brought back memories from your earlier videos. I have been in a slump and not brewing, but I am brewing tomorrow. Don't have the ice to chill, but that's never stopped me before.

    Inkbirds are a must. I have the older version (no WiFi) connected to my Keezer for probably 6 or 7years now. Another of similar aged one that I used on my fermentation fridge failed about a year ago which gave me the opportunity to buy 2 new ITC-308s for my 2 fermentation fridges. Cool connection goes to the fridge and I have a heat pad lying in the bottom of the fridge connected to the heat side. +0.3 & -0.3 and happy days with constant fermentation temps regardless of the season. I travel for work and with the WiFi I can adjust the fermentation fridge temp setting to 1 Deg C to start the cold crash process whilst I am in another state so the morning after I get home cold crash has run for a few days and I can keg immediately. So many other advantages. If you don't have one (or 3 like me) grab them now you won't regret it.

    I have an Inkbird and its a lifesaver, I only use for controlling temp when fermenting and I tape it to the side of the fermenter and use a sponge over to get the accurate reading. If you use a big fermenter with a Thermowell just stick the probe in there (dont forget the lube). Enjoy good beer.

    I also add a "Lasko My Heat" personal heater when I am using my Inkbird in my fermentation chamber. It's small, but will heat the chamber pretty quickly. That way it keeps the fermenter at 68 degrees, or whatever other temp you set it to. It can heat if it gets too cold, and it's also good for doing kettle sours, when you need to keep the wort at 95 degrees for 24 hours+ while the beer sours. The Inkbird will throttle between the cold and hot points to keep the beer at whatever temp you set it for. An amazing addition to any homebrew/professional setup for cheap!

  • @erickrause6443

    Get the app for the phone. You can use the app to monitor the temp over time. Useful when fermenting with it as a monitor
    You can set all of the settings via the app and get alerts if the temp goes too high or low. I set the alarm for 30 and 50. That way it will go nuts when the wife accidentally turns off the power strip while cleaning.
    I also recently strapped it to a fermenting keg. Wrapped it with one of the heater blankets and set it to 90 for a kviek yeast. Worked well.

    Love my Inkbird. I live in the great white north, and my brewing set up is in the garage. It gets hot in there in the summer, and cold in there in the winter. I keep my fermenter in a cool old glass-door beverage fridge like you'd see in a convenience store. In the summer, i have the fridge plugged in to the "cooling" side, and in the winter I keep a little ceramic heater inside the fridge, and plug it into the "heating" side. I can maintain the perfect temperature in that fridge all year round no matter how hot or cold it gets in the garage - couldn't do it without the Inkbird.

    Had one for about. 2 years now with a keezer and cannot complain. Buy this one and not the controller you have to hardwire (itc1000f). If you run a fermentation chamber off of this, the Wi-Fi one is the way to go. If you are doing temperature stages or diacetal tests, you don’t even have to put pants on to go out to your garage and change the temperature!

    Couldn’t agree more on the Inkbird, have had mine for over two years and it is vital in the keezer. By the way, am I the only one who mixes a tap now and then? Say 1/2 a lemony wheat with 1/2 a hoppier wheat in a pint? Feels a bit wrong but hard to resist with multi taps.

    Great vid and love my inkbird, I would suggest to put the temp. probe, in glass of water or thermo well in your fermenting beer, so you get more accurate temp readings then just the ambient air temp in the chest freezer.

    • @mittelfruh
      @mittelfruh 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, that's what I do. Keep in mind though, some fridges have a defrost mode. For instance, my fridge would normally have a twice/24hr. period, where it turns off for 20min. if not connected to the Inkbird. So sometimes while the IB is calling for cool, the fridge won't come on til its defrost mode ends. Cheerz

      @@mittelfruh yes it works from the phone, but they don't have an open api to integrate it in an automated system (to automatically launch a ramp up temp after aspecific gravity has been reach, or a cold crash after the gravity does not move for a few days)
