I feel like people should charge for their craft/time that's not what I'm about to say but I also feel like there is a such thing of overcharging. Charging $10,000 or 40k is way too much. You can find $20 bags that look nice and work just as well for carrying everyday items. They might not be the latest style or color way though, which I suppose is a big selling point. I guess the main counterpoint is hoping that bags at that price means that the people who actually made them with their own hands are getting paid livable wages too, not just the company creator as is the case for many designer brands. I would be much more likely to be interested in designer brands if they were transparent about their supply chain and labor practices, and could prove the price point.
I absolutely agree with you. I couldnt have said it better. $150.00 & up is not affordable for most. You can get really nice bags that last a very long time at the $25.00-$35.00 price point.
I guarantee that nothing that cost $20 will last as long as one of these bags. I’ve been buying leather goods for decades and quality will cost your $100 at minimum, but last forever.

I saw a guy carrying a bag literally 2 days ago on the subway and I did a double take cause I thought his outfit and bag looked really good on him. Then I saw the logo and I was like...omg it's the Telfar bag!!! It seriously made his outfit look more chic

It's a faux leather paperbag silhouette with an enlarged embossed logo...it's been done before. Genuine leather, suede, and faux leather totes in the shape of a paper bag have been done in other brands, big and small, for decades. Even Chanel did it decades ago. Besides that, all the power to him for making money. Fashion elements are cyclical anyway, for the most part. Most things we see in stores now have been done before, even before we were born.
That's not the case for everyone as I didn't know either supported his bag. Louis Vuitton has a bag very similar and people would run through fire to get it and spend $3K for it..

The reason why I won't buy them is because they're made of vegan leather, which is a vastly inferior material to real leather. I only buy genuine leather bags because of their longevity with good care. If he made an Italian leather version of these bags I'd definitely buy! The design is simple and clean and I can see why it's so popular, I just hate vegan leather. I hope one day he will expand to real leather offerings

They are relatively affordable even if you have to save up $150.00. I don't know if it's leather or other material. I haven't been to the stores or searched for this online. This is the first time I hear of this designer.
His bags are vegan leather, unfortunately it's a shoddy material in terms of longevity, that's why I've never bought from his brand. I hope one day he will have offerings made of better materials, I only buy genuine leather bags
