Dale Earnhardt Sr. is considered by many to be the greatest NASCAR driver in history. He’s definitely a lot of people’s favorite driver.
Sadly killed in a crash in the final turn of the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.
He was nearing the end of his career, although many believed that 2001 would’ve been a big comeback for his career. He’s definitely missed by many in the sport.
Dale Sr, was my hero as a teen growing up.. i stop'd watching Nascar after he died... i still have all my collectable toys n cars n everything i had of his back in my teens. it's just packed away in boxes in my closet.
Please understand and I know what people will say we do not care, but there were people who hated him with a passion. they thought he was a dirty racer. You may not like it, but it is a fact.
At least his death wasn't totally in vain. It's what forced NASCAR to take an even bigger look at driver safety. Safer barriers and mandating the HANS device have saved countless drivers. As sad as it was losing someone as famous and loved as Dale was the only thing to break the stigma of "well racing is dangerous and if you die well that's sad but it's part of racing"
Kyle Busch was released the same day. He got detained at the airport on his way home. He’s still racing today. Been watching y’all since the very beginning (close to) first time ever commenting
He mentioned Daytona, Talladega, and Restrictor-Plates several times. Those are weird scenarios in NASCAR. Daytona and Talladega are massive 2.5+ mile tracks and much bigger than most if not all other tracks on the circuit. The result is that cars can go flat-out all throttle, and that results in overly dangerous speeds. That's where the restrictor plates come in. For those huge tracks, they have to put a plate on the engines to limit horse power (I think it limits air intake, but might be wrong). It results in some weird racing like pairing up and drafting where the one car in front punches through the air resistance while the trailing car literally pushes the front car. I prefer the 1.5 mile tracks where there's moderate breaking in corners, etc., but these are interesting and maybe worth looking into if you're curious.
Correct on the limited intake. We still call it restrictor plate racing just because we're not good at changing, but nowadays there's no plate, they just use a lower horsepower engine for the superspeedways.
The actual length of the track is vastly less important than the configuration and the banking. Needless to say if you have any questions of this and obviously I'm assuming you're aware of Atlanta's new setup which is identical in racing-style to these two big dogs you speak off!
The fastest speeds in recent decades have actually been in California and Michigan, 2 big tracks without restrictor plates, was fun to watch qualifying runs at Michigan in the mid 2000s, cars touching 210mph at the end of the front stretch.
It limits fuel intake
This is the first Daytona 500 since Dale Earnhardt died, where not one single driver in the race ever raced with Dale Earnhardt.
It was also the final 500 for Earnhardt’s replacement Kevin Harvick
At Daytona, they are reaching the mid to high 190's in speed consistently. In the past, they also have averaged over 200 MPH as well. Bill Elliot had the fastest lap ever in a Nascar at around 210 MPH.
Bill Elliot hit 212 mph at Talladega but I've heard Davey Allison hit 229 mph during a private session the same year at the same track...
@@dangerousdylan6262 late but that was average lap speed for Bill which is very different from top speed
Funnily enough, y'all uploaded this on the day of the Daytona 500. But yes, it's the first race of the NASCAR season and it's regarded as the most important race of the season as well. The winner of this race gets the biggest purse of the entire season as well.
The Daytona 500 is NASCARS Super Bowl, it’s the start of the season and it usually a wild wide open throttled race
Best race was Dale SR winning! It was epic, every team showed their resoect to the GOAT!!@ You cant watch him going down pit road, and not get choked up! It was the win of a lifetime`! History in the making!!
To me you guy’s shine when you are reacting to sports. Please keep doing live sports reactions ! Not sure if it’s possible but NASCAR or NFL draft would be fun!
They would hate the NFL draft.
2012 Daytona 500 was historical, first time they had night race on Monday night. Not to mention, Juan Pablo Montoya hit a jet dryer on lap 160, causing fuel to seep onto the track and catch fire, the race was delayed 2 hours. Race finally ended after midnight on a Tuesday morning.
Daytona 500 is the opening race of the season. NASCAR goes from 3rd Sunday in February to the 2nd Sunday in November. So a lap at Daytona can be anywhere from 46.50 secs to 48.50 secs. Most NASCAR cup races are from 300-500 miles in length.
To answer your question about the engines, for the last 40 years or so the engines have been 358 cubic inch (just under 5.9L) V8s. Many teams built their own engines or bought them from some of the bigger teams. Several different rules packages have changed the engines a bit like the addition of electronic fuel injection, but the overall size of the engines has stayed the same for many years.
The beautiful thing about Dale Earnhardt’s 1st Daytona 500 win after 20 years was the respect and joy every team had for him. As he drove down pit road “every” pit crew member of every team lined up to congratulate him❤
Dale Earnhardt Jr. vids would be a great thing for the blokes to react to.
Golf and nascar are great sports to watch on tv while you nap on the weekend
Currently there are not any women in the top flight of NASCAR. You were thinking of Danica Patrick who came over from Indy, and it is the end of the Indy 500 where the drink milk. There is a woman Halie Deegan (sp?) in the Truck series right now and a few women scattered amongst the lower levels, but none currently in the top 2 series as regulars
Unlike Danica, Deegan actually has a chance of earning a Nascar ride one day. She's a talented driver. She is still young and has tons to learn, but she is young enough to where she has time to learn.
The key here is that daytona is the Opening POINTS paying race. The LA Colesium clash race was an exhibition style event. But the Daytona 500 is the first race of the season
And technically it's not even the first points paying race anymore lol. Cause the Duels give playoff points now lol
@20:40 ish. There are 36 teams that own "charters" which allows them to race in every race in the season (some rules they have to follow to keep the charter, but this system was created to allow teams to sell charters when they "fold up shop"), but the rules state that upto 40 cars can actually race any given race. Daytona, and a few others important races, usually see 40+ cars "try" to get into the race, because its the biggest most important race, and if they win it (Winning gets you a ticket to the playoffs), then you can get more funding to attempt a full season. (sponsors like play offs) So since only 40 cars can race, and 36 of them are for the charter guys, that leaves 4 open spots to any race. This year, 42 cars showed up to get into the 500, 2 had to go home before the race even started. Jimmy Johnson, was one of the open cars and managed to get into the race (he's not racing fully time anymore.)
Dale Jrs. PodCast is GREAT!!
Best Episode is Jr talking about his Father Dale (and how his Dad never Took him serious as a racer until very late)
His appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast is also one of my favorites on Rogan’s podcast
Steve Letarte's movie review of Days of Thunder is another great Dale Jr podcast episode. The video is 25 minutes and they go over a bunch of the stories around the making of the movie.
The Cars are traveling at 190mph plus, over a football field (100 yards) a second on a 2.5 mile high banked Oval track for 188 laps, it's one of the fastest tracks on the circuit and one of the longest
Kevin harvick was involved in so many photo finishes he could probably have a top 10 list of just how many of the ones that he was involved in.
Jr. owns his team Jr Motorsports (NASCAR's F2), DirtyMoMedia (Racing, mostly NASCAR podcast company), The CARS Tour (Late Model Stock Touring series in the South), and is an analyst for NBC's portion of the broadcast schedule.
Jeff Gordon is a part owner of Hendrick Motorsports and runs the team 2nd only to Mr. Rick Hendrick himself.
-
Currently there are no women in the Cup Series, but in the Truck Series, Haillie Deegan races the full schedule an I believe Jennifer Jo Cobb and Jessica Friesen (wife of other part-time Truck Series driver and 5 time Super DirtWeek winner, Stewart Friesen) make occasional starts.
Kyle was arrested in January and was allowed to return home while they adjudicated it because of his celebrity status. He was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison so he will NEVER be going back to Mexico. I don't see us allowing extradition so if he never visits again he'll never serve that.
I'm sure he can reach a settlement if he had to. He certainly has the money to pay a corrupt government. Im all for following the laws of other countries if you are going to visit, but mexico is a dangerous place for wealthy Americans. He should probably stay home next time
About damn time the office blokes reacted to one of these big NASCAR channels
Hell Yeah!! Dropping a NASCAR video shortly before the race… I’m in cheers
The milk celebration is the Indy 500
Sadly for us gentlemen, Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, and another one mentioned Dale Jarrett, have all retired, even the one from the fight video that you made the comment about punching in the nose, Clint bowyer, has also retired, and so has Kevin harvick. The new talent pool however does have some real but I'll call roosters in that hen yard. Such as Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, William Byron, Denny Hamlin is still racing, and every once in awhile when they have specific races on road courses, F1 drivers will take a ride in NASCAR. Pique has, so has Grosean. Christian fittipaldi has raised in NASCAR, and there's even been drivers from the V8 supercars that have driven in NASCAR and had success. Boris said is one of my favorites, even though he comes out of road racing and SCCA, and personally I would love to see Fernando Alonso come over and give this a shot. There's even an episode that was filmed where Lewis Hamilton came over and he and Tony Stewart swapped rides and did it at Watkins Glen on the old F1 circuit there. And if you know your history you'll know that Tony Stewart used to also drive Indy cars and was a champion in that series and is a three-time champion in NASCAR. He can drive anything that has a steering wheel. NASCAR now has a street circuit that they race in Chicago. And guess what, S. van Gisbergen, a talent from the V8 supercar circuit. Won that race, his first time ever driving in NASCAR Juan Pablo Montoya drove for several years in NASCAR. In fact NASCAR also races at the Canadian tire Motorsport Park in bowmanville Ontario. This board is not quite so regional as people think it is but I am also an F1 fan and I have to say it but my favorite driver is Fernando Alonso but I also love Carlos Sianz Jr. Checo broke my heart when he retired. It's my hope that one day NASCAR gets the recognition that F1 gets on the global level. Because it's funny to me how they do tend to blend every once in awhile and it has been mostly a successful thing.
There are women running in the feeder series in NASCAR, and in my area, some very talented women running in the local, weekly racing series. There is no question we will see women breaking out at the highest levels within a few years-too much talent to be stopped.
*They all use 5.9L V8s, they used to produce around 800+HP. Now it’s 670 for most tracks
*Speeds at Daytona used to go over 200mph, now most cars cap off at around 195mph
*in an effort to reduce heavy hits NASCAR introduced Restrictor plates in the engine to limit HP
* Lots of women climbing the ranks of NASCARs, none in the top Cup series at the moment
*Richard Hammond did a Top Gear segment about NASCAR
*Kyle Busch: the M&Ms cars, talented but arguably the most hated driver. M&Ms parent company left NASCAR all together, Kyle needed to find a new Team and did
Indy 500 Speedway: 257,327 (permanent seats) - 400,000 grand total
I always knew Kyle as the M&M guy xD
Awesome! Can't wait for the race! Have you thought of doing a live stream of the NFL draft? Not sure if channel over there will show it.
Speeds hit 200 mph and average around 160-180 mph. They are inches apart because the air from the front car is pushed over the cars behind it. The front car is basically pulling the cars behind it. It’s called the draft. Dale Earnhardt claimed he could see the air flow, which made him so good in the super speedways. When the second place car goes to pass and gets out of the draft it’s like hitting a wall.
Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr are both retired. I think they both own teams now, but I am not sure.
Live about a mile from the speedway in Daytona, it used to be the first race of the year, now I think the first race was somewhere else this year. You can hear the cars from about three miles away.
Happy Daytona day! Dale jr and Jeff Gordon both retired, Dale jr works in the broadcast booth and I belive Jeff is part owner of Hendrick motorsports
Kyle was actually sentenced to 3 1/2 years, but they allows him to pay a fine to get out of time.
I was surprised the 2001 wasn't on the list since that's the one in which Dale Earnhardt Sr died.
Kyle Bush that my guy I love when he put other driver in the wall and flip other with the middle finger
closer to 200 mph
No most of those really well known drivers have retired the last driver to race against Dale sr that being Kurt Busch was forced into early retirement after suffering a bad concussion at pocono in 2022 the doctors have yet to clear him to race, Jimmie Johnson is running a few races this year he’s now a co owner in the Richard petty - gms racing team now know as Legacy MotorClub
Nascar really isn't dangerous as a spectator. The catch fences are created specifically to stop any car shrapnel reaching fans and they work amazingly. Rally racing spectators have a death wish lol
I live about 15 mins from the Talladega track, and although I'm not a fan of racing, I think your reactions to NASCAR are hilarious.
Nice! I live in Munford, and I watch the Blokes regularly.
Man, if you only live 15 minutes from Talladega and you haven't been there, you owe it yourself to at least one time go and see a race, between the sound and the atmosphere it's an amazing experience, races are always so much different in person than on TV
@@BamaXanderI'm in Golden Springs, Anniston
I've only been to 2 Nascar races and I was at the 79 race which usually ends up at #1 on most lists
The first race I ever watched and became a huge fan was the 79 race. Was a huge fan up until my driver, Terry Labonte, retired
IMO, the top current drivers in the series are Chase Elliot, Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, and Kevin Harvick. Harvick is retiring after this season, and has had a couple of disappointing seasons the last couple of years, but he's the "elder statesman" of the sport. Still one of the best in the field.
Ever since Toyota came into the Cup series in 2007, they have run the Toyota Camry, but in the last couple decades Chevy and Ford have both run multiple models
Ford:
Thunderbird
Taurus
Fusion (American name for the Mondeo)
and now the Mustang
Chevy:
Lumina
Monte Carlo
Impala
SS (American model of the Holden Commodore)
and now the Camaro ZL1
Dodge came back in the 2000s and in that time they raced the Intrepid, the Avenger, and then the Charger (and the Challenger in the Xfinity series), but they pulled out of NASCAR in 2012 or 2013
They pulled out after not getting a top team to switch for the 2013 season
90% of the guys you are watching are retired. Jr, Gordon, Johnson. if im not mistaken Kyle Bush is retired as well. most of those guys own racing companies within the sport.
i laughed my ass off when i heard "Bowman is the best driver at the moment".....
Honorable mention is Michael Waltrip winning it in the same race dale Sr died. Dale Earnhardt owned Michael's car. Michael's first win.
I think the absolute best era for Nascar was the late 80's through the early 2000's. After that the rules became extremely restrictive, effectively making every single car pretty much identical (spec wise). Today's rules specify an engine displacement no greater than 358ci. So they run 358ci V8's that are tuned to 750hp on 1mile or shorter tracks and 550hp on tracks longer than 1m. Most of the restrictive rule changes came as a result of increasingly dangerous high speed crashes (cars were starting to fly) so Nascar decided to actually make the cars slower/safer. Also, the long races are actually pretty damn physically taxing. Drivers routinely lose 10lbs or more during the long hot races. Travis Pastrana is racing at Daytona today for the first time!
The guy who made this list got it wrong. First, he didn't mention that in the 1976 race, David Pearson was able to get his car going first and won the race. Also, he left off what many consider to be one of the greatest races in NASCAR history, the 1999 Daytona 500 that featured a classic late-race battle for the win between Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon.
NASCAR used to be great when crew chiefs could find ways to get extra speed from their cars that technically didn’t break the rules but now it’s all cookie cutter cars that are all the same. They have taken all the innovation out of it. Then there is how you can’t even adjust the spoiler to change the down force. It just hasn’t been racing anymore. Nowadays I go to old races on RUclips to get my nascar fix. So sad. RIP Smokey Yunic!!!!
Max speed at Daytona is over 200mph/ 321kph in some years
Uh just a small correction 200mph is 322kph you were close
Imagin hitting the inside wall at 200 mph
kyle busch is the most winningest driver that still races
Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon, and Jimmy Johnson are past Champion. Jimmy Johnson has won 7 season championship, 5 in a row. Most championship ever
Dale Jr and Gordon both are retired. Dale Jr has a podcast show now.
The Daytona 500 is currently running as I type this
The Busch Brothers are the villians of Nascar.. and even tho he was caught w/a gun, i heard he was released right away, even tho he was convicted to serve time in prison. he somehow avoided it. but i think it was a cheeky worded article. not sure if he was ever "convicted". But ya he's out.
27:40 ish. Nascar is completely the opposite. The cars are in garage stalls right next to each other like with just enough room between each car for a person to walk. And the fans have full view/access by either a fence, or glass walls, that have slits in them for fans to get autographs from team members/drivers. Everyone see what everyone is doing, so when someone is bending the rules, word gets out.
Track is 2.5 miles. Restricer plates are plates under the carburater that restrict oxygen to the engine, delays acceleration and lowering top speed, thus, most cars have virtually the same top speed. This makes the aerodynamics very important and the 2nd and 3rd cars actually are faster than the lead car causing a vacuum between front and rear of the cars and buffeting left to right. (I and many fans and drivers HATE this). I wish they would have smaller engines, and or smaller transmissions to reduce speed instead of restricter plates. Kind regards, Scott Rowland
Nascar stock cars top out over 200 mph on the big tracks, it just looks slower due to the camera angles
kyle busch and his family were in the mall of america in minnesota last year when there was a shooting at the mall but kyle stated it wasn't because of the shooting that he carries a firearm but who knows. alex bowman did win the pole with his teammate kyle larson in 2nd, they drive for hendrick motorsports and they've dominated qualifying for the past i don't know how many years. i'm a huge NASCAR fan and the letters in NASCAR spell out what the series is, it's the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. the most number of cars in a team for the cup series is 4 those are hendrick motorsports and joe gibbs racing, there isn't a woman in the cup series right now but you were thinking of danica patrick she raced in indycar then came to NASCAR in the NASCAR xfinity series then she went to the cup series but never won a race she did win the pole for a daytona 500. indycar does the milk drinking for the indy 500 winner
Danica Patrick is who you’re thinking of
Kyle Bush and his Brother both are NASCAR Champion. No he finished third. The hot new kid is Chase Elliott, had a NASCAR champion ship. I think he’s 20 years. I also believe Kyle Bush has more wins than any other driver
The cars travel at speeds of between 150 to 190 mph at Daytona...
That tik tok logo is covering Mike's name, not fair !
He said he forgot he had his gun, I am guess in his luggage, its something that happen all of the time at airports.
There are women NASCAR Drivers but they are all racing in the lower series as of now, one hasn't made it to the top series since Danica Patrick. The Indy 500 is where they celebrate with milk.
27:52 neeaww neaaw neeaaw , neaw neaw neaw
Attendance for the Indianapolis 500 is over 400,000
the best part about Nascar is the the ABSOLUTE constant shameless product placement
Dale Earnhardt Jr is not racing anymore. He's in the booth. Jimmie Johnson returned this year after two years and will be in the field in 45 minutes when the green falls. No, teams just don't have two. Some teams have 1 some have 2 some have more.
I’m terms of speed, they are in the pack going about 190-200 mph
these guys will reach 200mph on the straightaways
Tom and Bert were there there’s a episode on 2 bears 1 cave
Watch NASCAR The Art of Revenge. It's amazing!!
Dale Earnhardt was killed in the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500
Yeah the Daytona 500 and my hometown track of Talladega are outliers (along with Atlanta now), and I hate those races. They race road, short, mile-and-halves, etc, and I'm meant to just watch 500 miles of pack racing
it is the opening race of the season Daz, the NASCAR season is mid February to early November
400,000 total at Indy
Daytona 500 is the cup series equivalent of the NFL superbowl and the opening race
Daytona 500 speeds approaching 200 mph or more
NASCAR used to be faster at Daytona. In 1987, Bill Elliott set the fastest qualifying speed at 210.364 mph. That same year he post the fastest lap every in NASCAR while qualifying for Talladega at 212.8 mph. The next year, NASCAR required teams use restrictor plates to slow the cars down. This is why drafting is so important at the super speedways. The cars running at the front are mostly going flat out, no braking and no lifting of the throttle.
Still the most gangster race channel on the net!
You should check out the Indy 500.
On this track the cars get up to the 190s/mph
You guys should cover Daytona bike week, motorcycle rally ! Or Sturgis !
Dale Jr is mostly retired. Too many concussions. He does a race here and there. Jeff Gordon retired as well.
Most of the great drivers from a decade ago are retired now, except for a handful.
Please react to the Daytona 500 that was just raced yesterday
so no live watch party for the race??
Indianapolis Speedway can handle up to 400,000 seats
500 miles
Jeff jimmy and dale jr are all retired
Dazz look on NASCAR who is the office racing action
Indianapolis
Indy 500 holds 350,000
If you haven’t seen, this is an old classic NASCAR adjacent vid! ruclips.net/video/Q7idmpO78Sg/видео.html
