I made this yesterday. First time I've ever made any type of dumplings and they were absolutely delicious. I could not believe how tasty these were. I used dried shiitake mushrooms which were yummy. I need to practice my pleats that's for sure. Thank you so much. xx
I did it too and its so good with shitake mushrooms. But i have a huge problem with the frozen ones . I made a lot and i froze them . When i boiled the frozen ones, they were all broken. Thats so bad. I dont know if u have had the same problem. Thanks a lot
Absolutely love Potstickers/Gyoza/Fried Dumplings! Love this video. Just need to put in some prep time but the assembly and cooking times are worth the wait.
just tried making dumplings for the first time & i used your recipe for it, they came out amazing!! this is def going to become a holiday/dinner staple :))
YUM!!! Looks yummy! I think I would add some finely chopped ginger just to brighten them up a bit... Great recipe... Awesome editing!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
These look GREAT! Mushrooms are so delicious. I often put them with other things in dumplings, but never made them where they are the main player. I look forward to making these! Yum. Thanks for another super video!
Hello East Meets Kitchen (^^) Handmade in your vegan dumpling video is very delicious! I also liked vegan dumplings , so it was very helpful. Thank you (^ ^!
What lovely dumplings! You can't go wrong with hearty mushrooms in a dumpling - though I wonder if including portabellas would add some more savory notes?
Awesome, great things I can use here. I didn't like shiitake mushrooms, but I really like some of the other mushrooms. I want to try morel's, so many different varieties out there. Oh and porcini's. Didn't like the oysters.
@@EastMeetsKitchen don't have them around here, did look them up though, they look a bit too weird 😆. Will definitely try out the dough, they look like they browned very nice. You're such an awesome chef!!

Looks great. The one thing I miss in vegan dumplings is a yummy fat source, similar to what you’d get with a pork dumpling. Have you found anything to simulate this? I’ve tried adding refined coconut oil and others but nothing comes out right for me. Thanks!
East Meets Kitchen thanks. Yep, I hear ya. I didn’t give up animal products because they don’t taste good. I have tried adding oil into seitan without much luck. I’ll see if I can find argan oil. I do have pork powder. If I figure something out I’ll let you know.
East Meets Kitchen yep. After about 38 years of eating meat I finally realized that the life and welfare of animals is far more important than my taste buds. The environment could use a helping hand from more people eating plants too.
East Meets Kitchen just made some. I used a scary amount of crisco with pork powder. Not healthy but it was pretty delicious and closer to pork than I expected. Here’s a pic and a shoutout. twitter.com/nateajohnson/status/1089576342725844994?s=21
East Meets Kitchen thanks for the kind words on the dumplings :) I went vegan for health too. I think a lot of us older vegans probably did. I ate meat, dairy, eggs, etc for 38 years and am in my 40s now. But then you start learning about all the other reasons and it’s hard not to support them all. I look back at my old self and am ashamed how I acted towards others that were vegan and try to use that when I talk to people about being vegan today. There are lots of great reasons to adapt a vegan lifestyle. And yes, your tastebuds do change pretty quickly. I love to cook and if I can replicate my favorite dishes from the past, I can share those with others that think being a vegan is all about eating salads and carrots. I love dumplings and your channel has been one of my favorites over the years.
Just tried you’re recipe. Came out bomb! My Daughters and wife loved them.
I used Shitaki Mushroom and chicken.
Thanks!
ah man!! I JUST filmed a dumpling episode in anticipation for Chinese new year too LOLLLL love it :D :D :D

@@emmynguyen1693 I heard it's best to freeze them separately before packing them together so they don't stick to each other

Does the recipe stay proportionate if scaled up to 50 prepackaged wrappers? Seems like it would be a lot of sesame oil?
love them. thank you

these look amazing. once you've rolled the dough out, could you then freeze it, alternating each dumpling wrapper with parchment paper or something?

It was a nice thought. Logic had to stop me from thinking further, we are just too distant 🙂
Hello, i was wondering if this would work with a gluten free flour?
I don’t use oil. Could these be steamed or baked? (Or both?) Thanks!
you can prob steam them or boil them (:
