Poco F5 Pro | Unboxing & 1 Week Review

- Reviewing the Poco F5 Pro mid-range smartphone with flagship style specs, including an unboxing, camera test, gaming and more. I've been using Xiaomi's Poco F5 Pro for a week now and here's my thoughts on this well-specced mobile, one of the best value of 2023 so far!
This MiUI 14 phone isn't quite as beefy or desirable as actual flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23, but it isn't far off. That design may be plastic and the camera is a mere 64MP shooter, but you do get OIS and the Poco F5 Pro can shoot clever looking pics and movies most times of day.
Likewise, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 may be getting on a wee bit, but it's still powerful enough to smash any game out there. Battery life is respectable, although I did finish most days on dregs (around ten percent remaining).
That AMOLED screen is an absolute stunner, while the Poco F5 Pro also sports a stereo speaker setup. You've got plenty of storage packed in, although there's no microSD support.
So are you tempted by the Poco F5 Pro? Is it a strong alternative to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus? Let us know your thoughts below!

Still have my Poco f3 and still don't feel the need to upgrade. But when I do it might be another Poco phone. Has everything I need.
Yup don't upgrade not worth it..
same as me such a wonderful phone poco f3 is
I'm using the Poco F3 right now. If I upgrade I'm getting a foldable phone.
I'm upgrading to the F5 Pro because the 8PlusGen1 is amazing for GPU intensive loads like emulation. But if you aren't gonna do any of those things I would stick to the Poco F3 as well. The 865/870 has aged incredibly well. (Because 888 and 8Gen1 are bad lol)
And here I am on the Poco F2 Pro remembering that at launch the 865 was dogged on for good reasons as it is less battery efficient the the 855,meanwhile the succesors are even worse
British RUclipsrs make me want to move to the UK, you especially are so funny, I could hear you talk for ages, you've got such amazing phrases. I absolutely love these videos! Thank you so much for existing!
It's baffling what they did with the bezels on the Pro version.
The regular F5 looks so good. It has slim symmetrical bezels all around. I guess they were specifically trying to compete with Nothing Phone 1 with the Non-Pro.
I bought a 12+512 Black F5 Pro for myself and the regular 8+256 Blue F5 for my wife. I want to make a practical observation about your comment, but first, let's keep in mind that my following consideration is about the respective colors, because each has a different look and/or finish.
I do confirm that the regular F5 is much more of a beauty when compared to the Pro, from all angles (I even get myself admiring the side angle of the regular F5 cause it's just so eye-catching), and the Regular F5 even feels better because of the weight, slimmer body and slightly smaller size.
However there is a great difference between them when it comes to form and grip, and that in my opinion favors the F5 Pro. It feels much more secure, feels more "round", almost like your hand hugging the sides while the regular F5 has a sharper "square" feel that you can almost compare it to holding a small framed mirror. I have big hands and I constantly get the feeling that I should be adjusting my palm to hold the phone more securely.
In practical use, the bezels being so small got me into more accidental touches, in vertical position (affecting launcher, menus, etc) and horizontal too (affecting heavy and light gaming). Yes I am aware there is a software solution for this but still this is something to keep in mind.
So in conclusion, yes, I do agree with you that the bezels on the regular F5 are delightful, and I think that accomplishes something like: the regular F5 being more mainstream focused while the Pro brings the grip and gaming into consideration. Not saying it is for sure, but it certainly can be a purposely design choice.
@@StingnBwould you recommend buying a f5 or the pro
I found both around the same price so what do you recommend?
@@amira.ismail8004 to me, you have to answer the following: which is more relevant to you: a headphone jack or wireless charging?
If headphone jack matters to you, I do recommend the regular F5. If wireless charging, then the F5 Pro.
Keep in mind that regular F5 is also a lot better in battery life, and is also lighter so see if it matters to you
@@StingnBthis is very accurate. I've also been perusing AliExpress and comparing F5 / F5 Pro... I've still not been able to decide. Maybe I'll give up on them and get a Nord 3 instead.
Poco F5 is the Redmi 12 turbo;
Poco F5 Pro is the Redmi K60 Pro.
Nice little ReBoxing /Unboxing vid fella.😂👍
Thank you for your review as always. I recall your Poco X3 NFC review years ago and it's served me well. Just got the f5 pro for £480ish w/ a "free" 50watt wireless charger and it's awesome. Huge upgrade!
I just wanted to say that after binging all your recent phone reviews for the past 2 months, I finally decided on getting a Samsung S22 Ultra. Thanks for all content!
Allot of people have said the performance and battery life of the exynos model isnt the best. Even the SD model has overheating and battery issues. The S23U would be better if its within your budget.
@Sleepy panda I'm using the SD model. I've been experimenting with it for a week now. It's actually working great! Especially since I'm upgrading from a Samsung A70. The reason i opted for the S22U is because it's much cheaper. Got it for less than half the price of the S23U.
@@lucyffer8836 How does it feel to hold and use phone? Is it comfortable using it? I'm considering buying S23U but I'm a bit scared of the size of the phone.
@Miyarumeeha I already got myself the s22u. I did consider the s21u, but in the end I went with the s22u just because it's a bit newer.
@Wang Sama Personally, I like the size. I have big hands, so it works for me.
I think that calling this phone a "mid ranger" is only a reflection of its price, but not its performance and some features, specially the 1440p display and the modern high end SOC.
In Mainland China, it's being called 'Redmi K60', basically a flagship series of Redmi. That's why u can get 2K Amoled Screen, 30W wireless charging and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor from this phone at relatively affordable price.
How much is the price.
@@fahianhaque4413300 dollar 8g+256g
You should always buy the global version if you're not in China though.
@@camotech1314 Yep,
Chinese version>Global>Regional
Theres exceptions though like the Note 6
And you can get it for just about 250 bucks. I'd definitely buy the K60 over the poco F5 pro. Just need to install the EU rom.
Hi! Great video as always! Mind telling us where you get your wallpapers? :)
Hopefully the bugs if not all, most of it should be resolved. Hoping to buy this phone. As always thanks for the awesome review😂
woah I just about got flashbanged at 12:54. Way too bright of a shot there Uncle Spurt
Sir can u tell from do u find all this amazing wallpaper is there is any app plz reply
Quad hd screen 🤩
Luv ur video sir
Does the USB type c port also serves as an audio output. ?
Does a dongle work for a wired earphones??
Another good video 😊... are you going to do the Poco f5... seams to be a lot of buzz about this phone. Would be good for to to review the F5 as well.😂
Lots of love from Nepal
Man you absolutely slaughtered the phone. I just ordered on as I am on a budget but I hope it serves me well.
I think you made a good choice. The iPhone SE is £429 and this phone is £449 and the specs on the SE are absolutely diabolical
Now £279 !
Nice video, do you know where I could buy one of these?
Hey!
Will you test the Tecno Camon 20 Premier as well?
I've been downloading Genshin for 3 days ...this guy has it on every phone in every video
Good game 😅
Im early. Because I know this guy will have the best review for this awaited phone 😂
Is there a protective glass pre-installed?
Guys. I have been using poco f1 past 4 year's it's still very fast sd-845. Never hank. I just love poco phone
bro i have seen you for a while, how you get the anime wallpaper so goddamn beautiful
Great job
I have the poco f1 and i think it's really the time to upgrade. Does the f5 pro have the widevine support? Unlike the f1 that doesn't have it
I also have poco f1 and i feel my f1 is outdated this time especially charging time of battery..
I think the f5 pro has Widevine.
Lets go.. lets buy f5 pro 😊
I'm a Poco F1 user. And i just ordered Poco F5 Pro 12+512GB. Time to upgrade after almost 7 years hehe. My poco F1 still working perfectly.
In terms of camera do you recommend this over the realme gt neo 5? Can you give us side by side comparisons.. Thanks
I also want to know which one is better in performance
What is the maximum photo and video zoom with the main camera?
The white variant seem better looking, can't wait to get my hands on mine. Sadly this year xiaomi is a very disappointing this year.
Excellent 1 week review.
Doesn't seem to be a huge upgrade over my F3. I guess I'll wait for the Poco Fold for my next upgrade
How much is the base model of the poco f5 pro
1:25 Lol I understood that reference from the Reddit video😂.
Is this F5 pro a strong and excellent battery life like the F2 pro ?????
Coming from Poco F3..Might get the S23 Ultra now
Where are you getting those wallpapers bro?
UK early bird prices for the 12/256 F5 Pro is £499 (£559 RRP) and £379 (£449 RRP) for the 12/256 F5. Spec as you say, pretty impressive, although build looks a bit disappointing. Beyond the 2K display, it'll be interesting to see how they compare. Camera hardware, as I understand, is identical, but the F5 Pro ups video to 8K.
I ordered on Aliexpress for £270, comes with the EU charger though, however I have the F4 67W so not an issue.
how did it go? did you get f5 pro? @@AlexHusTech

It is glass, apparently.
I have a question, please help me from the best realme gt 2 pro vs poco f5 pro in cooling, games, speed of performance and temperature ❤️❤️❤️
Nice review mr white huga fan here
On Sunday's they put the price up. You was very lucky to get a taxi as we struggled to get one anywhere in Tenerife last month..March 2023. I would Like to here how they are now...
I want to see the Poco F5 review with the new 7 Gen 2
Watching this on my Poco F2 Pro still going strong after 3 years might upgrade to this one or Xiaomi 13
same bro
I have to say, xiaomi does a very good job updating phones nowadays. Even some devices that were classified as "end of support" suddenly do get updated actually.
What's the IP rating? Or did I miss that bit ?
I’m on a iPhone 12 :) good to see phones are getting all the same gonna wait a year and get a cheap better phone
does it have a heating issue? kinda traumatised with the x3 pro deadbooting and i hear the F3 is also capable of that
i already have poco x3 pro and poco x4 gt....mybe this will be next..... screen, antutu score most exciting part of poco f5 pro
can i ask?.... what's better, poco f5 pro or realme gt neo 5
Thank you for mentioning the bugs, had a Mi phone last year, never go back to MiUi, Android One on Nokia, Sony, Motorola or Samsung UI are so much better. The software on the smartphone is much more important for me than the phone specs
MIUI also disables swipe gesture navigation if you don't use the stock launcher. Combined with ad-laden system apps, I'm not sure I could go back to MIUI after trying Samsung and OnePlus Android versions.
You know you can swap miui for another os if you want, xiaomi is pretty well knowb for their custom roms
Their bootloader is easily unlockable and you can get the full potential using custom ROMs
@@BadrKhiyat Which would prevent a lot of apps from running. Banking apps and media apps don't like custom ROMs on unlocked bootloaders.
@@fallinginthed33p there's workarounds for that, been using bank apps and all on my phone for a while without any problem
this one or 12t pro? simillar price in my region
Please give me your choice between f5 pro and mi 12t pro
What do you think of the display on the F5 I think it looks so much better.
Hey where do you get your anime wallpapers on your phone?
Will you be doing a video on Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G vs Poco F5 ?
What watch do you have on ?
Been loving all hes wallpaper where does he get it from? I want those😢
On Google
I was really sad when POCO cancelled F4 Pro last year. I got tired of waiting for many months. So I bought Xiaomi 12T Pro later 🔥
How's the gaming?
@@bryso_n it's buttery smooth, you can play all heavy demanding games on max settings 👌 Emulation on this beast is fantastic 🧊
that's a great phone, but a bit pricey. i just got my hands on F4 GT and it's great as well, except yours has a better camera, mine has a pair of shoulder buttons. really... as you said that's a fantastic emulation beast! satisfied at every turn
@@yuria_lu Poco f5 pro is still cheaper with a waaaaay better display and the same chip over 500ppi compared to 400ppi 1400 nits compared to 900 nits that's a huge difference also idk why the 12t pro doesn't support wireless charging ... Xiaomi just boggles my mind with these decisions they just love confusing us with specs ... Something better on this phone here than the last phone there, something better in that phone there better than these 2 here but lacks in this and that even if it's more expensive.... You get the idea I think I'll just get a OnePlus 11
And yet the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is considerably more powerful than the Dimensity 8100.
BEAST 👍👍
Which best phone? Samsung galaxy A54 or Poco F5 pro ?
poco
In the term of performance, Poco f5 pro Is a hell lot better but besides that in terms of Camera, water resistant, durability, Longevity, design, software, update etc A54 Is better
Where do you get those gorgeous Anime wallpapers?
Plz tell me Redmi k60 pro gonna lauch or not 🤔
No reviews for the base version?
I still use an LG G7 for watching RUclips and some videos because of the 2K display, I don't have a sim in it, i just use it for video consumption. I refuse to pay more than 700$ for a phone that doesn't have a 2k screen, i think it's absurd how expensive phones can be and still have a 1080p display.
sir where did you download your wallpapers ?
It has the same launcher and same round icons since 4 years ago
Seriously the Facebook icon is still the very old one and the only way to change it is to change the theme
Tech - Have fm radio? Thanks!
Can somebody please tell me if the Poco F5 has a live translation function like the Pixel phones ? My girlfriend and I met in holidays and not yet speak the other persons language very well. So this is really important for me, thanks for any answers/help!

Any long term POCO enjoyers? do their phones last? like software updates of course, but also does it hold in the hardware department as well?
I had poco f1 since 2018 , swapped it with a Samsung s21 fe last week . A Friend of mine told me that newer poco devices has terrible hardwares ( related to the board or smtng , not sure )
I have an x3 that i got in the beginning of 2021 and its still a beast. im running evolution x rom and no complaints battery only lost about 700 mah of health and fingerprint still flawless so yeah for a 200 dollar phone it still just blazes through stuff

It's fun to call a 12+512GB Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 a "midrange" 😅
Other than camera which is good enough, build quality and long term updates yh it is funny to call it a mere midrange it should called mid range flagship.

I hope they will make a midrange compact phone 🙏
Only thing you can do is to wait til the zenfone 9 drop in price, because not a chance anyone will do compact phone
We can only hope. I know below 6" is wishful thinking but 6,2-6,3" displays is better pocketable than 6,7 and can fit HW nicely. Jus make thicker body for bigger battery. I am waiting for Pixel 7A and Xperia 10 V announcements.
This. I still can't let go of my redmi k20/mi9t at year 4 because I really like this form factor and can't find any midrange phone with similar size and reasonable specs. But I'm close on giving up and just buy a 6.67inches. Eyeing the Poco F5 series, contemplating F5 or F5 Pro.
Why newer models keep having bigger bezels than previous generations?

Is this the best phone at its price with a 1440p+ display? Or is it the ONLY ONE?
better protected than most members of the royal family💀💀💀
As a current Poco F3 owner (for 2 years) I still find the phone to be very responsive and "snappy" for day to day tasks. The SD870 is still a powerhouse of a chip. I did notice recently the phone is starting to drop apps in the background. Not sure if this is due to age or the updates that Xiaomi push out. Also, my biggest gripe (and the reason I'm looking to upgrade) is the camera setup. It's, for the lack of a better word... TRASH. Its horrible. Really bad. 99% of my pictures are devoid of detail (even with good lighting conditions). I've tried many different mods / apps to try and help but nothing did. I never cared so much for the camera's on a phone but man o man did this phone make me reevaluate. I'm really hoping the camera's on this one is at least mid-tier because I'd love to have the Gen1+ but if it's just as bad then I'll look at getting a Pixel 7 or A54.
I own a phone Poco F3, and I was suffering from a problem, the quality of the camera decreased, but I tried Google Camera, and it improved a lot in the quality of the camera, and it gives me a lot of details in the image. You have to try it, and you will see the big difference in your eyes.
I've also had it for 2 years, performance wise it's still great but I had a problem where it kept crashing and couldn't detect the battery level or signal about 4 months ago. Thankfully Xiaomi took it in and repaired it as part of the warranty. I wouldn't call this phone reliable
@@hellonoitisnt393 that was quite generous of Xiaomi in your location. In my country, once you're past the 1 year warranty, you're out of luck.
@@MasterKoala777 I had a 2 year warranty
I don't have such a problem, you are unskilled, it's not the sensor that is bad. I have tons of professional looking stills with Poco F3, I use gcam + lightroom and I have dynamic range as my 3500$ camera, stop talkin shit due to unskillful usage.
