I left a comment here five years ago saying I was gonna be a furry. I was 13. Am currently 19 (birthday was the other day) and just got home from my first ever convention- MFF. Thanks Telephone, this was the first furry video I ever had the pleasure to watch :)
When introducing my mom to the cons of the fandom, I showed her this charity video. She found it adorable that these guys actually thought Telephone was cute because the average guy wouldn't bat an eye at it. She loved the cute video and the care for charity to the point that she was more comfortable the fandom's atmosphere. I recommend showing this video to your parents because they'll be more understanding of it than if you just try explaining it to them awkwardly.
I think this community is dragged way too much, people like this are just having fun and entertaining people in the process, and not to mention, telephone is one of the cutest things I've ever seen.
Take any anti-furry person and make them watch this all the way through. It's guaranteed to make that person smile at least once at some point. I bet the poor girl gets so exhausted after getting home from these conventions. She does a great job with her character and makes every passing moment valuable. I wonder if she gets hot and tired and has to take a break once in a while at those? Is it hot wearing a fursuit?
Biz_Markie91 She does get very tired. If you see her in panels, she explains that she's hunched over and breathing through a tiny fixture in the head to make her chirping sounds. She's hot, sweaty, tired, and can hardly breath, and she's done this for 8 hours straight before. Standing on her tip toes and hopping around chirping for people, non stop, no breaks. Now as far as how hot it is, if you were to strap your head into a pillow... then a comforter, with just a tiny hole for breathing and had to look through a fitted bed sheet for eyes, wearing two thermal fur coats and two pairs of thick thermal snow pants with small weights attached to your feet, that's basically what it feels like to be in suit. Some have more air flow than others, but it's never an ideal place to be unless your in the middle of a snow storm. x3
I really didn't smile very much this made me wonder what was the big deal? This isn't a fucking real animal. Animals are fucking adorable but this furry shit is just weird.
When I watch telephone sometimes I forget that she is a cosplaying furry I kinda just remind myself but it's hard very very few people can pull this off like she has.

Just one thing though... Assuming this is a furry convention, how did what looks like an 8 year old girl get in? I thought you had to be certain age, like 13 or 14 and up or something.
+Siena H. you have to be a certain age, I think over 16, to attend alone, and they take special precautions, like making the registration badges of minors a different, very visible color. Conventions take their minor's attendance policy very seriously. However, the voice you can hear near the end is the girl's mother. If a parent attends with the child, it is allowed, although I'm not certain if there is a cutoff age for that. I've seen parents with very young (still in strollers) children at conventions before, so its not too out of place. Hope that clears that up for you!
+Siena H. Yes, this is a fur con. it is Furry Fiesta in Dallas (Addison) Texas. This particular one being filmed in February of 2014. All ages are welcome, my son has attended with me since the first year at a year old. He just turned 8 and will continue to attend. He absolutely loves it, which is saying something considering he's an aspie and has major issues with crowds and lots of noise. Like Ryan said, Minors badges are bright red (at least at Furry Fiesta) and very noticeable. Age limits are set for a few events or panels, these are monitored by security and to get in, just like at a bar, you have to have your state issued ID (drivers license). (example: the Rocky Horror group we had one year. Got a bit racy, but age limits were enforced) :)

It's like wearing a nigh airtight full body winter jacket that can withstand -40 degrees celsius. So kinda like a portable sauna.
