- Permit changing of different film types in one camera by daylight and without the loss of a single frame. You are therefore instantly ready for every type of subject. Whether you use black-and-white or color film, negative or reversal, every emulsion is immediately ready for shooting on changing the film back. That also makes a second camera body or o second camera unnecessary.
If you want to know how to load film into an interchangeable film back Zeiss Ikon you need to see this video!

This is wrong. You need to slide the film in the small rails along the pressure plate, otherwise pushing back the dark slide will make a total mess.
Hello Michael,
Thanks for you correction!
Hello is there any way you can help me with my contarex?
Are you sure you don t need to pass the film behind the to silver rails ( the above one being larger thé the upper one... ? If no I don t see the interest of these rails... for me they are here to prevent scratching the film when putting back the black back when you want to change film
Hello,
You are right, you need to slide the film in the small rails along the pressure plate, otherwise pushing back the dark slide will make a total mess.
Hii, i want to make a 3d model of this magazine, do you know where i can find the disassembled piece by piece with measurements, like a detailed product chart? I would love to make it functional.
Hello after following this tutorial, I had trouble placing th backing back into the camera, what can I do?
Everything needs to be done in the right order, due to various interlocks. And you have to remove the plastic spacer around the supply spool. Instructions for these are on Butkus’s site.
Just tried loading some of these. It definitely takes practice, the film needs to go under the metal rails, and I had to use a matchstick and fiddling to get the film around the back side of the spool. It was curling too much and poking up in front of the spool. One of my magazines turned out to be bad, the inside of the take up spool is worn and doesn’t engage fully with the film wind, it just slips with a ratcheting noise. My Contarex only came with the magazines, I don’t have the regular back, spool, and plastic spacer, so I’m stuck with them until I track down the parts.
Please take down this video or edit it regarding the film GOING UNDER the guide rails...many people online think whatever they see on the interwebs, is gospel 🤦
Thank you for confirming my thoughts! I'm about to use this for the first time.
sehr richtig, aus der Originalanleitung ging das auch nicht richtig hervor und ich habe einige Filme zerstört und hatte grosse Probleme, den Rest davon zu entfernen
