As a New England Yankee who was exiled to Houston in the late 70s it was artists like Shake Russell that kept me alive in an otherwise uncomfortable environment. Shake, I don't know where you are now, but thank you. Thank You very much for reminding me that art rises above anything else in our world. Thank you sir
I have known Shake for a LOOONNNGGGG time and though I don't go out and watch him perform much these days, for various reasons, I can say that Shake is an Icon here in Texas. He's worked hard at his craft and deserves recognition. Not to mention, that Shake's a really good guy and I am proud to have him for a friend. He has a gift for writing good songs.
Thank you guys for still being around. Waxing nostalgic all the way back to the 70's. All the losses along the way make me so sad but then I listen to you guys and Im enlightened and joyous again.
With apologies to Shake, I sang his song a few times at restaurants in San Marcos and it was lousy but I loved the song and the folks, maily students, did, too. Half were drunk and would sing along just because they loved the song, too. Shake made quite an impression in San Marcos and Austin. I played pool and bought him a beer. I also watched him play in Austin, sat at a booth with him, bought him a beer. Amazing thing I found out: He learned to play the guitar upside down!
I used to chase Shake and Dana Cooper all over cenral Texas when I was a young man. When I sang and played this at parties I had to ladies eating out of my hand.
@whip79014 I might have been there also. I thanked Shake silently many times after playing my own poor rendition for an appreciative audience of one (smile)
The commercial claiming to offer you relief is a for Rocket Mortgage. They called me for three straight days trying to get me to refinance my house. Don’t click the link unless you want to be hassled by them .
Thanks again to Shake for helping this ol yankee in the late 70s. I could not have survived in Texas without your great music.
My favorite song from a really nice guy. Saw him live a few years ago and was moved by this song and this group.❤
