GREAT reaction. This performance from the 8th Wonder Of The World, So Hyang, is just a small sample of the flexibility in her voice. So Hyang's vocal range is RIDICULOUS and her breath control is INSANE. Her technique is FLAWLESS and EFFORTLESS. Although this event was in 2015, trust and believe, in 2022, she is sounding better than ever, proving her technique is ROCK SOLID!!
@@nathanlongwell I promise you, every So Hyang performance is Master Class. Even when she sings in Korean, it is not necessary to understand the lyrics. So Hyang is BRILLIANT at conveying the message/meaning of every song.
Those who listen to Sohyang inevitably come away impressed or amazed by the extraordinary voice she brings, regardless whether one is a fan or not. Her vocal is just undeniably superb and awe-inspiring. Yet there are vocal and musical experts who focus on her flawless technical skills in a performance. However, her targeted audience are the ones who tune in automatically to the emotional context of the performance, who invariably become absorbed in the connection between her voice and their soul. This song is a classic and Sohyang imprinted the stamp of immortality with her rendition here.

Truly one of the greatest performances of all time by any singer. Her version of "I Have Nothing' (with her in a blue dress) is also amazing, as is 'Lean On Me' with Michael Bolton in the audience (he made it a hit). Thanks for your reaction! She has a lot of great songs to choose from.
Overwhelming, isn't she? Here's a biography I wrote up about Sohyang. I hope you enjoy it. ************************* We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks five languages: Korean, English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Because of this she is prone to catching pneumonia but has sang perfectly while suffering from it in her live performance of “You Raise Me Up” before Shane Filan of Westlife on South Korean TV: ruclips.net/video/te_L9ofhUt8/видео.html She has asked those who love her singing to pray that God keep pneumonia away from her, she has suffered from it on so many occasions. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere! She just turned 44 on April 5, 2022, though in Korean culture she would be 45 because you are deemed to be one year old when you are born. She was about 37 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone”, their unofficial national anthem based on a 600 year old folk song expressing their desire to reunify north and south: vimeo.com/308253527 After being sick with pneumonia eight times from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she decided to enter a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international attention from the performances being posted on RUclips. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on RUclips and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted Sohyang and went to Japan in order to have her perform eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. For those who don't know, David Foster was Whitney Houston's producer for her albums, wrote "I Have Nothing", her most iconic song, and is probably the most famous and influential music producer in the world. Then she later saw a Korean TV drama where the talented daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father retired. But he left the management of the company to a woman she hated, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. Sohyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing self-destructive character by withholding international celebrity status from her. ruclips.net/video/rl-jX9kBsEs/видео.html (Again, turn on English subtitles.) So as a consequence she does not pursue fame or fortune and actually has no social media presence whatsoever. What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! @@nathanlongwell oh. Check out her cover of You Raise Me Up or Everyone from the same show Immortal Songs. Everyone is a one off performance by her. She only ever did it live once. You'll see why. And FYI, When Josh Groban performed in S Korea a few yrs back. He invited Sohyang to perform with him. They did 3 songs. It's on RUclips
It doesn't take long to fall in love with her and, or her voice. Both are unique and powerful. Her back story should be made into a movie. She has been called the Korean Mariah, but I think that diminishes her talent. You mentioned Josh Groban, who I love. You then should hear her version of 'You Raise Me Up' which she got out of a hospital bed with a severe case of Pneumonia to sing. She went straight back to hospital for 5 more days. I'll leave a link for this below. P.S. Paul Simon wrote this song and performed it with Art Garfunkel. ruclips.net/video/te_L9ofhUt8/видео.html 'You Raise Me Up' So Hyang cover of the song Josh Groban made famous.

첨 본 채널인데 스튜디오 셋팅,불빛, 그리고 깔끔한 워딩 좋네요. 그녀의 노래는 영혼을 관통하죠.

Amazing Sohyang!
주님이 나에게 손을 내미시며 함께하자고 얘기하시는것 같네요~^^

Josh Groban?
I know kinda random, but that’s the first version I ever heard
@@nathanlongwell oh. Check out her cover of You Raise Me Up or Everyone from the same show Immortal Songs. Everyone is a one off performance by her. She only ever did it live once. You'll see why. And FYI, When Josh Groban performed in S Korea a few yrs back. He invited Sohyang to perform with him. They did 3 songs. It's on RUclips
💖💖💖
Check out her version of “I will always love you” at the shipyard for first line workers during Covid. Amazing!

Show this clip to your dad if you have a chance.
If this is his favorite song, he may be shocked to hear it sung this way with power and conviction.

좋은데 !!

I went to her concert a few days ago.
It was a great experience.

Thank you. She is my queen and best woman singer in the world. I was fortunate enough to see her sing live. It was Amazing Grace. You will love that. God bless.
새벽 2시35분 설사를 하면서 당신의 리액션을 보고 있습니다 ㅜㅜ
You have to row when the water comes in. Is there anything you felt after seeing the number of Sohyang views? Why aren't you uploading a reaction video for another song?
