I understand the gamble as a young wrestler, especially when you see all the guys who are big names now in the industry who did little cameo parts like that in the WWE as a security guard or backstage personnel etc. Only takes 1 person to take a shine to you

This is the same arena I sat in the stands to watch Flair win the title at the Royal Rumble, DX reform under HHH, Austin and the beer truck, Trish pushing Lita off a ladder through a table, Edge win the world title, Edge’s Smackdown retirement, and Bigshow tossing Mick Foley from the stage to the buried alive set, and this one abomination lives with it in my memory.

I don’t think WWE is as dumb as you may think. To me it looks like they were well aware of what they were doing, A theory I have is that they were either trying to cool down Lashley’s momentum so they have more leverage over him or they were making him pay for leaving WWE 10 years prior. Again those are just theories. I simply don’t think they snapped out of a hypnosis late in the game and suddenly realised the way had Bobby F’n Lashley.
