first time watching your video. i just subscribed to your channel and i also hit the bell thing. i own a 1995 polaris magnum 425 2x4 atv. i have never replaced a head gasket. i was looking on videos on how to replace the head gasket and your video came up. thank you So Very Much on the info in this video. :)
Thank you, great video. Recently got a scrambler 400. Previous owner said he did a top end rebuild. I am getting pressure at the coolant reservoir once it warms up, it sprays from the pinhole in the cap. Seems to spray more under throttle. Do you think the head gasket and checking for warpage is a good place for me to start? Fan is working. Coolant is topped off and I’ve tried bleeding air from the system.
Good video..I have a polaris trail boss 350 4x4 and I just put a new sproket and baring carrier...do I tighten the 2 axle bolts as tight as I can up against the sproket? Or do I leave alittle gap where the washer is ..I just got this quad and it's alot different than my 500 sportsman..I'm also replacing the head gasket..does the gasket tab go towards the exhaust or the carb ? In your video you put the tab facing the carb ..is that the same on a 350 ? Thanks for any help u can give me.
Thanks to all your videos I have successfully replace my head gasket on my Polaris 400 4-stroke watercolor question though how do I get all the water out of the crankcase other than changing my oil several times thank you
Great show, my newly bought cheap is 1995 explorer, no idea were the thermostat is, fan didnt come on and than the top radiator tube blasted off, low antifreeze in radiator, no wonder if made lot of smoke :( Can not get gasket so liquid one for me, avoid sanding down.
Awesome video. My 400 is blowing out alot of white smoke on a heavy throttle pulls, after it calms down she goes back to the normal blue smoke exhaust, it also backfires after that too. Coolant level is normal. What do you suspect the issue to be ? Thanks
Just rebuilt a 400L and had it running for about 30sec before filling the radiator back up. Reassembled and now I have a leak out of 2 head bolts. Hoping it was a bad gasket and not a warped head, but I'll pull it out and check. Do you know if there is an adjustment to the choke cable? Mine pulls real easy and it starts hard.
@@mbakken11 There is a test with a feeler gauge. I can't remember what the thickness is. There should be a little gap from the toggle to the base. like .001 or.002. So a little play is good. I usually eyeball it. I just spoke with a friend that rebuilds and parts these out. No OEM out there. Just a really good name brand. I'll ask him what it was.
So they lips on the gasket go down? I just replaced my head gasket and I lined the tab up with the spot for it. Which made the lips face up. And it is leaking
Not on the top. Its on the side of the water pump. Look at the water pump..there is a 10 mm bolt on the lower left side on the front of it. look at this video. at 10:03 into it shows a 500.
The gasket that I'm replacing was upside down with the tab to the exhaust and the 2 little holes to the intake side would I install it like it was or how you did it???also the piston head has worn near the exhaust should I replace it or would it still hold ?
Mine doesn't have any dire options with it. What way does the gasket sit. I dont care about the tab just want to know what is the top and bottom. Thanks! I like and subscribe
think you for all your knowhow, i resurfaced my head the way you showed..i had to do it twice lol..but worked like a charm..thank you.

The curve mark is actually the P in the word "UP". When you can read it the gasket is installed correctly.
My first 2 years of doing this I didnt know. I had to laugh when I figured out it said UP.
@@TitaniummanGarage Yep! Up means up! 🤣

Question what can be the problem on my 93 trail it has low compression and it won’t start I have a good spark

White smoke is always antifreeze. It takes very little to produce white smoke. Better rip it apart before you grenade the engine!
Thansk for tips.
I was hoping to see complete head removal, not just the sculp
ruclips.net/video/nAii5Z7JxvY/видео.html at about 25:32 it shows the head installation.

Just at the base of the cable on the carb. Turn it in or out, but if you're getting coolant in the jug...it will start hard.
@@TitaniummanGarage what's the proper adjustment for the choke? Also do you know where to get an oem head gasket? Nobody seems to have them anymore

Hi. The cylinder of a polaris scrambler 400 2t for a polaris sports 400 2t.anbas from 1999? Thanks
.Do you have a film for the removal of the head gasket of a 2012 Polaris 400 Sportsman?
No. But I have a complete rebuild video of a 500. Should be similar

The head might be warped.
How did you clean all the other surfaces?
I use a razor blade and lacquer thinner to clean them.
dose a 97 Polaris xplorer 500 have that screw to let the air out for the coolant on the top of the head if so where would that be located

Yours wouldn’t be 2 stroke so it’s a lot different

Hi Why did you put the gasket upside down?
It is facing up like it should. I should have turned it 180 degrees..But it doesn't matter. All the cooling ports are in line.
Mine doesn't have any dire options with it. What way does the gasket sit. I dont care about the tab just want to know what is the top and bottom. Thanks! I like and subscribe
