I found budgeting by paycheck was keeping me poor. I built up to a month ahead by underspending on my budget and building up the cushion in my bank account until I had a month's income. It took me 4-5 months. It has made such a difference. Life changing.

This my big goal for year.. I listed all bills from smallest to largest. I put a set amount each paycheck and work on just one bill at a time when I have enough for one bill I mark it off and go onto my next one. I'm 2/3 way done! But I made the amounts smaller so I don't stress myself out.. it will take me longer but it's not stressing me out!

I’m a month ahead on my mortgage and daycare expenses…I did it on paper with my magic month… so when I receive that third check I put it all to my mortgage and it immediately put me a month ahead on paper… I did the same thing when I receive my second Magic month for my childcare expense… you have to be super intentional and not spend the money that’s in the bank, but it was a fast way to get ahead with my two largest expenses!!!

I wish I could save money. I wish I had a third payday. When you retired and I’m Social Security and make as little as I do, there’s no such thing as a budget because I have no money left over when I pay all my bills and I prayed the next paycheck I get will come sooner than every two weeks so if I get hungry, I can buy food. They say I make too much to get help I make less than $2000 a month way less. But I don’t need help. I say I’m glad I own my home and I’m glad I own my own vehicle because the white lights going right now I might be living in my vehicle and I know God does not give me any more than I can handle and I can handle it by doing without. I hope this can help someone and make their life easier and make them able to pay their bills a month ahead. Those were great ideas you said and have. I just don’t get any of those benefits. Thank you for sharing and caring and keep up the great work.

I live in Australia and i am on a very low income for over here. I got a refund from something I'd overpaid and I had a 3 pay month in December, so i decided to go ahead and finally set up a monthly budget (usually budget bi weekly along with my paydays).
It hurts doing a monthly budget because the bills and expenses take up most of my income. But i will have a couple of magic months some time during the year to do other things with or put in my month ahead acct for extra spending/saving some months.
I'm now living on last month's income and it's been a challenge coz i was a bit short of my budget this month, but i got there. Using cash has helped me set up savings challenges and cash envelopes and I'm now planning on saving for next year's spending to cut back on next year's monthly budget!
    Great video Cin.

I pay my mortgage the last Friday of the month. But I don’t pay it for the first of the next month, but rather the month after. (For example, I paid my Feb 1 mortgage payment on December 27.) it gives me peace of mind it’s paid, it saves interest, and if I’m unable to pay (vacation, etc.), I have four or five more Fridays to pay it.
Each paycheck from my full-time job automatically puts into savings the amount needed for my regular bills. That money is not to be used for something short of life and death.
And I use the zero-out to round my checking account to full dollars every week. It might be pennies each week, but it adds up!

I am on a very low income.... here's what I've started doing :-
I pay ALL my bills the day i get paid, then take out £400 cash (Leaves me with very little in the bank!)...... = £20 for chicken food and £30 for my cat..... the remaining £350 goes in a 5 week, per month, food budget. This is 5 envelopes with £70 in each..... £10 per day for food, which is far more than necessary for me and my son. As there's no 35 days in any month, I will have at least £40 to play with just before the next payday....... PLUS any £10's I can save for having 'no spend' days. So far, this month (i'm just starting week 3) I have saved £60.....and will have £40 extra as there's 31 days in January. That's £100 already!..... with 3 weeks to go....
This is VERY hard to do the first month......but it's working for me as any cash laying around in my current accounts will get wasted on an Amazon or Ebay basket!. The day before the next payday, I either reallocate the money back into the food envelopes and do something with the equivilent that i don't have to get out of the bank the next time I get paid (savings) OR I allocate the saved cash into other envelopes that i have created (ie birthdays, 'big' food shop, toiletries, month ahead, household supplies etc) and then draw out another £400 to restart over again the next month...... or a mixture of both. I also have a £1 coin per day jar (not to be touched until 1st Jan 2026)..... and also my spare silver goes into a fish and chip take away tub!
I repeat, the first month of doing this is absolute murder as there's no spare cash to draw from for other things when you need toilet rolls or toothpaste etc.... so baby cheats the first month might have to happen.

I would always pay more then the minimum.. by the time I send my second payment in they're like oh what you have this much do on April the 23rd... I got a month ahead on certain bills when I would have certain bonuses from work..
Also I was able to get ahead on most bills by simply doing the split payment method... still watching... you can also break up the amount for the bill...Such as if a bill is 200.00 divide it up by 5 or 10 even 20 then move on.
