Season 1 just had a way better story than season 2; shame they couldn't follow the original material after season 1.

They didn't really do that in season 1 that well either. Only thing they managed to keep according to the book was Bancroft's murder case and how it unfolds. They completely turned Reileen Kawahara into some one dimensional nemesis, they reduced envoy corps into a group of idealists who are just making some small time data heists, and the whole thing was cruxed at Rei going jealous of his brother instead of a complex Yakuza story
It's just the second season was total garbage.
