Hi there, thanks for the comment. So, it is for sure weird that you do not see a host file in there. It was either deleted for some reason, or could be missing due to system corruption by a system error. In addition, could be an antivirus issue, where your antivirus may have removed it for whatever reason. Either way you can create one, I would go to this site, scroll down until you see a post by “DaveM121” where he outlines the instructions to create one. I hope this helps!

I would like to block instagram but would like to be able to access the messaging inbox still. Any way to do that?

Hi, sorry no, the messaging part of instagram still comes form "instagram" therefore; once you block the domain (Instagram) it will block anything associated with it.
Hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting

Hi, so sorry it didnt work for you. The only time I have seen this not work is if the entries into the hosts file is not correct. I suggest double checking it. This is what the host file does, unless you have a third party process blocking sites that could be overwriting this? Additionally in the host file entry, did you remove the "#" at the beginning of the line before saving the file?

@@SamHayden It didn't work for me at first when I tried it to block Google just for a test run. I had to omit the "" as well as the last "/" after ".com" for it to work. I hope this clarifies things. :D
