I live in La Crosse on the Northside and have been to this bridge 100's of times...fishing, watching trains and river barges...my son and I were actually invited up into the operators cabin to see it work...got to see two northbound barges go through and westbound freight and an Amtrak...was a really cool experience...I actually have alot of footage of trains crossing this bridge if anyones interested ?

very cool piece of history Ken very interesting to see how they work. is there someone in the control cabin? or did they remote the bridge like they are doing to the towers anymore?? what turns them is it an electric motor? sorry for all the questions but you have me very interested.
