BMC stands for Baby Metal Cypher. A Cypher in rap can be a competition battle where rappers, typically standing in a circle taking turns exchanging verses to call out who is the superior rapper. Su is basically telling "Wanna Be" rappers to put on their big boy pants and up their game because she is coming after them. You absolutely need to see and possibly react to the MV, it has a Mortal Combat vibe which really show how much of a bad ass Su really is, but we knew that already.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Last year, BxMxC was played at every show in BABYMETAL's North American Tour with Dethklok and their own EU/UK tour. I believe this is a compilation from 2 gigs in 2020. Su-Metal is singing about some established style which used to be revolutionary and literally "stylish" but has turned already obsolete like an "Illusion of Rusted Chain" (last phrase of Su's rapping). Lyrics are suggesting breakthrough in or challenge to the status-quo (including the status of BM itself). When I heard this song in CD for the first time, I was skeptical that this challenging song would be played live on stage. But they did it flawlessly with clear vocal and sharp choreo. I witnessed it Day-7 in 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concert in 2021 for the first time. I, a poor skeptic, had to beg our Queen & Princesses for their forgiveness. 🥶
Babymetal/Su-metal keeps surprising us fans, it's great being a Babymetal fan. I've been a fan since 2016 (that was before the second album), they always deliver something new. But I think BxMxC was one of the biggest surprises in recent years. It shouldn't have been, because Su-metal has always been great at diction.
Great reaction - and yes go to see them live at the first opportunity.🦊🤘 Get seats or avoid the middle of the crowd so you don't get "stampled" in the mosh, you'll be fine. A lot of fans didn't like this when they first heard it, mainly because of the excessive autotune in the studio version which they thought was taking Su up into those falsetto bits. They thought they could not and would not play it live. They were happily so wrong. Not only did they play it live, it has become a staple part of their concerts ... and it hits so hard live. As you heard for yourselves Su does everything live without any need for the autotune and effects (those are reserved for the backing track with some of the harmonies etc). Apart from a little hip hop section from 2011 in 'Iine' we weren't expecting to hear Su rap either. I have 'borrowed' this information (again) - "They talked about 'BxMxC' in an interview. SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget! MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall? SU-METAL: Uh…what was it… KOBAMETAL (who happened to be there): Flow? SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind." BxMxC almost certainly means BABYMETAL Cypher (cypher being some sort of rap battle apparently) but I’m still going with ‘Bring Moa Chicken’: In another interview the first question was “How are you feeling right now?” MOA: “Hungry I need to eat fried chickens.”🍗 Obviously a full live performance is the ideal since compilations will sometimes slip in clips out of sequence (as this one did I noticed) and lose the flow of the choreo or jumping from one stage and costume to another and back can be confusing, but as long as you are aware or notice you are watching a compilation and it doesn't just distract you, as the reactor, from the song and performance, then it isn't such a big deal (and sometimes there isn't much choice).

My vote goes for "Babymetal Metal Cypher" as "metal cypher" is referenced in the lyrics. While i don't recommend compilation videos for introducing Babymetal to someone, they are fine after that. There are a few channels that do produce some very good compilations that are well worth watching. So right about Su-metal. She is incredible. I was caught as a Su- Admirer when I first saw the Megitsune MV back in 2015 and she has stampled my ears and my heart ever since then. Mind that I had pretty much left metal music behind 40 years prior. Back then, ~1975 in college, if someone had told me that in the 2010's I would want to adopt 3 cute, talented, hard-working, and humble, Japanese teenagers I would have thought they were being absurd. Babymetal... stampling my mind and musical taste since 2015 🤯. Always more Babymetal, forever! 🦊🤘

The audio is from one performance/video depending but I get to see and experience a variety of looks and presentations. That and the consistency of performance from concert to concert. The impressive thing about this song is that when the MV came out, we were wondering HOW Su was going to pull off the seemingly autotuned vocal effects she was doing in the video.... Well, when the live came out, Su kinda proved that there wasn't that much effect done to her voice other than what she was doing on her own.... 😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
When I heard this song for the first time, I had already been a BABYMETAL fan for a few years. Nevertheless, my facial expression wasn‘t much different from yours. Although I must admit that it took me a few listens to fully appreciate it. I was so damn glad to realize that they were still able to surprise me. Even now they still do. Furthermore, it‘s one of those songs that make my admiration for Su‘s talent and ambition take a leap. (BTW, another one of those would be „Shanti, shanti, shanti“, in case you are interested. Very different from this one, though.) It‘s not just that she is rapping, it‘s the whole mannerism and appearance that she‘s showing during this song. She is not just rapping, she becomes a rapper for the duration of the song. One would expect that this wouldn’t fit a tiny Japanese girl, but she appears absolutely legit. Novices how she manages that. She said it had taken her a while to „find her flow“ for this song. That‘s totally Su, not only realizing this, but having the ambition and diligence to stick with it until she‘s certain that she‘s absolutely going to nail it. I admire that trait.
The swagger in the live performance really sells it to me, they performed this song live so well, even by their impeccable standards. The headbanging and high kicks at the end are fantastic.
BMC👉 Bring Moa Chicken 🦊🤘🍗 Jumping to this song from Metal Galaxy after 2019 it deserves a lot of things to explain here, but just take in mind this is an unusual BM song and you're not gonna find a song alike to another. Also don't mind with the lyrics too much, trust me, even japanese got hard times translating and finding the meaning behind. But i was just saying there's a lot of things to explain when jumping to this era so fast, for example one of the original member, YuiMetal, isn't here anymore after 2018 and after that they got a set of backup dancers when performing live but since none of them were officially BM member when the official MV came out in 2020 the only front women were SuMetal and MoaMetal, they're the one you saw there, but then again since last year (April 1st) one of those backup dancers called now MomoMetal is an official member and you'll see her participating in latest official MV. BxMxC (or just BMC, x is just a cool space bar) probably means BabyMetal Cypher but fans like to have fun saying stand for Bring Moa Chicken, because Moa loves fried chicken 🍗 SuMetal is taking a real challenge with this new trap/rap metal song, she needed to find her flow and boi she can spit some bars and killing it on this one with the attitude. She actually rap since their very first song Doki Doki Morning but of course this one is on another level. The hip hop and rap elements are even more clear on songs like "Iine!" or "Onedari Daisakusen" way before this BxMxC song. The MV and album track got an auto-tune effect for artistic reasons but just like you heard live is when SuMetal voice really shine without those effects and the girls with the badass moves. Mrs Coach got it right - it's Rap Metal. But then they do mix every genre with Metal at some point! The MV is great but this version is excellent. Baby Metal Cypher...or sometimes referred to Bring Moa Chicken after MoaMetal's love of fried chicken. Only The Fox God Knows! 🦊🤘🤘🦊
Well, that was different. Rap metal. Brilliant beat (I do wish we could see more of the backing band) and a rap so smooth and fast, that I couldn't keep track of the lyric subtitles - when I could even read them through the flashing lights. I'm sorry I keep going on about that, but it really can be frustrating. I'm still in awe of the way they can keep the vocals so flawless while they perform such an energetic dance routine.
No need to apologize. We know the flashing lights are a real problem for some people. Agreed that this was very different, and somehow worked when you'd normally think it shouldn't.

I really think that the kpop industry could learn something from groups like Babymetal. It shouldn't be about making the "perfect idol group". It should be about the fun and the art. Sure the choreography and the singing can be off on rare occasions. I've experienced Babymetal both at their best, and on one of their off days. But what's important is that they always give it 110% and it's a genuine live performance. I think it's such a shame that so many kpop groups perform with backing track.. because most of them are crazy talented. Anyway, if you would like to see another super interesting and creative group out of Japan, I'd highly recommend Wagakki Band. They mix modern rock with traditional Japanese instruments and singing. And it's easy to find live videos of them. I'd recommend you start with the song Senbonzakura.
We got to learn about mashed potatoes AND “stampled” 🤣. This compilation is fine, Budokan 2021 is better, but no biggie. For me, Babymetal combines the best of metal music with awesome vocals like no one has done before, and just sits in that musical Goldilocks zone. That’s why I love them so much. Also, the joke of “Bring Moa Chicken” comes from how often Moa’s media interview answers sidetracks into food, and her love of fried chicken 🤣. Stampled. I get it. Stampeded over and trampled on. Don't worry Mrs Coach I gotcha! lol Not my favorite of the Babymetal songs, but I appreciate the skill still. I have a friend who does freestyle rapping, and even though I dislike rap, I totally support her in that because she loves doing it and she seems to be pretty good at it. Regardless, I give Su-Metal props for taking this on as when she was first given this song she had to figure out her groove to be able to sing it properly, and she's done that masterfully. Everybody in the Babymetal team are absolute beasts at what they do though. From the sound techs, to the lighting and stage setup to the musicians and the girls themselves. This is a very special band and I'll always love them because of the passion they put into every song they do.
The studio version is only on the Japanese version of the Metal Galaxy album along with another track called ↑↓←→BBAB. I have no idea how that is said either 😂😂😂. BxMxC is available as a live version on the live album Legend Metal Galaxy. You should do the live version of Road To Resistance in Japan. That's a great video too. I also recommend Karen Girls song Over The Future. This has Su aged about 11 years old with two other girls. (Su has a mole above her lip in the video). The song was used as a Theme Song to a Anime Show. Babymetal also covered the song around 2013 I think.
The thing is, Babymetal aren't cute, young, women anymore. They had to make the transition away from that, and it seems like some fans love it, and some don't. I'm not a hard rock/metal/rap guy, so this didn't appeal to me, but "Monochrome" was fantastic. Entertainers who start out young always face this issue - eventually they grow up and their content needs to grow with them. Some pull it off, some don't, but Babymetal seems to be doing just fine.
I don’t think compilation videos are bad, it’s just some are questionable in how they are edited which you really can’t avoid if you are doing a reaction. I think fans just need to do a better job at recommending particular videos. This video is not one of my favourites. Mainly because I don’t like the bright lightning in the performance that takes up the majority of the video, and how they mashed together wrong parts of the song in the interlude before Su’s A Capella and it throws me off. The performances where you see them on a large circular stage in the center of the arena and the one with the large triangular stage with red lighting and pyro are the good ones. I think those are official live recordings from their CDs if I am not mistaken while the other one was from a different agency which shows. All that said; this song is also my favourite of Babymetal’s (with Monochrome being my second) and was the second song after Headbanger that hit me on my decent down the Fox Hole. It truly showcases Babymetal’s experimental side and how perfect they are at blending the DNA of multiple different genres to create something completely unique and new. In the past, we have had rap in metal, but this song takes it to a whole other level. It IS a rap song, and it IS a metal song, through and through. Most other metal out there you can separate the different genre elements but this one you can’t because it is it’s own holistic entity. Even the themes of the song as shown in their music video reflects it. It is a rap battle taking place in a Metalocalypse-type Budakai arena setting with Su and Moa challenging other “metalers” in a competition. The death metal chanting of “BMC!” Just makes it all the more hardcore. Even the song name is designed like a death metal band logo even though it is a rap song. Pretty dope. Also others have mentioned it is a “cypher” challenging rappers, but in my opinion, it is a challenge to the metal genre itself. They are challenging the current paradigm and are reinventing the genre. But that is just my interpretation of it. Sumetal is the Queen!

I personally think you should have done a double reaction, with the music video first and then the live version. That way you get the entire idea of what the song is basically about. Plus, the music video is one of the best I've ever seen for special effects and just flat out genius the way it tells the story. You still should do the music video also. And with one song, Su became the best rapper on the planet, because she is outstanding as a vocalist and because actual melodic music is involved with it. I am not a fan or current rap. I really enjoyed it when it first came out with artists like Heavy D and the Boyz, House of Pain, Sugar Hill Gang, Cypress Hill. Then the west coast thugs got involved and it went to trash.
The music video is actually trash...it's their worst one...concept good, CGI TRASH...and who spoiled the video for them telling them they rap...first reactions are best going in blind...keep the details to a minimum

You know, there's nothing stopping you from reacting to the music video which is, in my opinion, one of the best BABYMETAL music videos made. One other thing: it’s a pity that you reacted to a compilation video. Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. Agreed on the MV. The highlight video was still fantastic as an introduction to the song and we enjoyed it. I cannot see a highlight video insulting any more than a highlight reel of a sports performance insulting but we always respect various opinions. Plus it allowed us to talk about mashed potatoes. 😆 🤣
"The backup dancers are good as well". They ARE NOT backup dancers and singers. It pisses me off when reactors only learn Su's name and recognize her talent. Yes, she's the queen and the best vocalist I've ever heard, but BM is composed of 3 equal women and without Moa and Yui and Momo etc, BM wouldn't be BM. Moa is an amazing lead vocalist in her own right and the choreography that she and Yui and now Momo perform is vital to the BM experience. They've been doing this since they were 11 and 9 years old. Give them all equal credit. Unbelievable.

Obviously a full live performance is the ideal since compilations will sometimes slip in clips out of sequence (as this one did I noticed) and lose the flow of the choreo or jumping from one stage and costume to another and back can be confusing, but as long as you are aware or notice you are watching a compilation and it doesn't just distract you, as the reactor, from the song and performance, then it isn't such a big deal (and sometimes there isn't much choice).

My vote goes for "Babymetal Metal Cypher" as "metal cypher" is referenced in the lyrics.
While i don't recommend compilation videos for introducing Babymetal to someone, they are fine after that. There are a few channels that do produce some very good compilations that are well worth watching.
So right about Su-metal. She is incredible. I was caught as a Su- Admirer when I first saw the Megitsune MV back in 2015 and she has stampled my ears and my heart ever since then. Mind that I had pretty much left metal music behind 40 years prior. Back then, ~1975 in college, if someone had told me that in the 2010's I would want to adopt 3 cute, talented, hard-working, and humble, Japanese teenagers I would have thought they were being absurd.

The audio is from one performance/video depending but I get to see and experience a variety of looks and presentations. That and the consistency of performance from concert to concert. The impressive thing about this song is that when the MV came out, we were wondering HOW Su was going to pull off the seemingly autotuned vocal effects she was doing in the video.... This song is fire. I had the privilege of seeing and hearing this song live twice now.

When I heard this song for the first time, I had already been a BABYMETAL fan for a few years. Nevertheless, my facial expression wasn‘t much different from yours. Although I must admit that it took me a few listens to fully appreciate it.
I was so damn glad to realize that they were still able to surprise me. Even now they still do. Furthermore, it‘s one of those songs that make my admiration for Su‘s talent and ambition take a leap. (BTW, another one of those would be „Shanti, shanti, shanti“, in case you are interested. Very different from this one, though.) It‘s not just that she is rapping, it‘s the whole mannerism and appearance that she‘s showing during this song. She is not just rapping, she becomes a rapper for the duration of the song. One would expect that this wouldn’t fit a tiny Japanese girl, but she appears absolutely legit. Novices how she manages that.
She said it had taken her a while to „find her flow“ for this song. That‘s totally Su, not only realizing this, but having the ambition and diligence to stick with it until she‘s certain that she‘s absolutely going to nail it. I admire that trait.

Jumping to this song from Metal Galaxy after 2019 it deserves a lot of things to explain here, but just take in mind this is an unusual BM song and you're not gonna find a song alike to another.
Also don't mind with the lyrics too much, trust me, even japanese got hard times translating and finding the meaning behind.
But i was just saying there's a lot of things to explain when jumping to this era so fast, for example one of the original member, YuiMetal, isn't here anymore after 2018 and after that they got a set of backup dancers when performing live but since none of them were officially BM member when the official MV came out in 2020 the only front women were SuMetal and MoaMetal, they're the one you saw there, but then again since last year (April 1st) one of those backup dancers called now MomoMetal is an official member and you'll see her participating in latest official MV.
BxMxC (or just BMC, x is just a cool space bar) probably means BabyMetal Cypher but fans like to have fun saying stand for Bring Moa Chicken, because Moa loves fried chicken 🍗
SuMetal is taking a real challenge with this new trap/rap metal song, she needed to find her flow and boi she can spit some bars and killing it on this one with the attitude. She actually rap since their very first song Doki Doki Morning but of course this one is on another level. The hip hop and rap elements are even more clear on songs like "Iine!" or "Onedari Daisakusen" way before this BxMxC song.
The MV and album track got an auto-tune effect for artistic reasons but just like you heard live is when SuMetal voice really shine without those effects and the girls with the badass moves.
This song was part of the setlist in this World Tour 2023 in almost every concert.

Mrs Coach got it right - it's Rap Metal. But then they do mix every genre with Metal at some point! The MV is great but this version is excellent. Baby Metal Cypher...or sometimes referred to Bring Moa Chicken after MoaMetal's love of fried chicken. Only The Fox God Knows! 🦊🤘🤘🦊
Well, that was different. Rap metal. Brilliant beat (I do wish we could see more of the backing band) and a rap so smooth and fast, that I couldn't keep track of the lyric subtitles - when I could even read them through the flashing lights. I'm sorry I keep going on about that, but it really can be frustrating.
I'm still in awe of the way they can keep the vocals so flawless while they perform such an energetic dance routine.

I really think that the kpop industry could learn something from groups like Babymetal. It shouldn't be about making the "perfect idol group". It should be about the fun and the art. Sure the choreography and the singing can be off on rare occasions. I've experienced Babymetal both at their best, and on one of their off days. But what's important is that they always give it 110% and it's a genuine live performance. I think it's such a shame that so many kpop groups perform with backing track.. because most of them are crazy talented.
Anyway, if you would like to see another super interesting and creative group out of Japan, I'd highly recommend Wagakki Band. They mix modern rock with traditional Japanese instruments and singing. And it's easy to find live videos of them. I'd recommend you start with the song Senbonzakura.

This compilation is fine, Budokan 2021 is better, but no biggie. For me, Babymetal combines the best of metal music with awesome vocals like no one has done before, and just sits in that musical Goldilocks zone. That’s why I love them so much.
Also, the joke of “Bring Moa Chicken” comes from how often Moa’s media interview answers sidetracks into food, and her love of fried chicken 🤣.
If you want to see Babymetal do something unique again, check out *Night Night Burn (Live, Legend Metal Galaxy, 2020)* . Hint: Salsa.

Not my favorite of the Babymetal songs, but I appreciate the skill still. I have a friend who does freestyle rapping, and even though I dislike rap, I totally support her in that because she loves doing it and she seems to be pretty good at it. Regardless, I give Su-Metal props for taking this on as when she was first given this song she had to figure out her groove to be able to sing it properly, and she's done that masterfully. Everybody in the Babymetal team are absolute beasts at what they do though. From the sound techs, to the lighting and stage setup to the musicians and the girls themselves. This is a very special band and I'll always love them because of the passion they put into every song they do.

The thing is, Babymetal aren't cute, young, women anymore. They had to make the transition away from that, and it seems like some fans love it, and some don't. I'm not a hard rock/metal/rap guy, so this didn't appeal to me, but "Monochrome" was fantastic. Entertainers who start out young always face this issue - eventually they grow up and their content needs to grow with them. Some pull it off, some don't, but Babymetal seems to be doing just fine.

I don’t think compilation videos are bad, it’s just some are questionable in how they are edited which you really can’t avoid if you are doing a reaction. I think fans just need to do a better job at recommending particular videos. This video is not one of my favourites. Mainly because I don’t like the bright lightning in the performance that takes up the majority of the video, and how they mashed together wrong parts of the song in the interlude before Su’s A Capella and it throws me off. The performances where you see them on a large circular stage in the center of the arena and the one with the large triangular stage with red lighting and pyro are the good ones. I think those are official live recordings from their CDs if I am not mistaken while the other one was from a different agency which shows.
All that said; this song is also my favourite of Babymetal’s (with Monochrome being my second) and was the second song after Headbanger that hit me on my decent down the Fox Hole. It truly showcases Babymetal’s experimental side and how perfect they are at blending the DNA of multiple different genres to create something completely unique and new. In the past, we have had rap in metal, but this song takes it to a whole other level. It IS a rap song, and it IS a metal song, through and through. Most other metal out there you can separate the different genre elements but this one you can’t because it is it’s own holistic entity. Even the themes of the song as shown in their music video reflects it. It is a rap battle taking place in a Metalocalypse-type Budakai arena setting with Su and Moa challenging other “metalers” in a competition. The death metal chanting of “BMC!” Just makes it all the more hardcore. Even the song name is designed like a death metal band logo even though it is a rap song. Pretty dope.
Also others have mentioned it is a “cypher” challenging rappers, but in my opinion, it is a challenge to the metal genre itself. They are challenging the current paradigm and are reinventing the genre. But that is just my interpretation of it. Sumetal is the Queen!

I personally think you should have done a double reaction, with the music video first and then the live version. That way you get the entire idea of what the song is basically about. Plus, the music video is one of the best I've ever seen for special effects and just flat out genius the way it tells the story. You still should do the music video also. And with one song, Su became the best rapper on the planet, because she is outstanding as a vocalist and because actual melodic music is involved with it. I am not a fan or current rap. I really enjoyed it when it first came out with artists like Heavy D and the Boyz, House of Pain, Sugar Hill Gang, Cypress Hill. Then the west coast thugs got involved and it went to trash.
Yeah, we may do the MV and who knows, maybe even sneak in that Budokan live version some have mentioned.

You know, there's nothing stopping you from reacting to the music video which is, in my opinion, one of the best BABYMETAL music videos made.
One other thing: it’s a pity that you reacted to a compilation video. Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. You are not reacting to BABYMETAL, you are reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL.

Agreed on the MV. The highlight video was still fantastic as an introduction to the song and we enjoyed it. I cannot see a highlight video insulting any more than a highlight reel of a sports performance insulting but we always respect various opinions. Plus it allowed us to talk about mashed potatoes. 😆 🤣
"The backup dancers are good as well". They ARE NOT backup dancers and singers. It pisses me off when reactors only learn Su's name and recognize her talent. Yes, she's the queen and the best vocalist I've ever heard, but BM is composed of 3 equal women and without Moa and Yui and Momo etc, BM wouldn't be BM. Moa is an amazing lead vocalist in her own right and the choreography that she and Yui and now Momo perform is vital to the BM experience. They've been doing this since they were 11 and 9 years old. Give them all equal credit. Unbelievable.
