    Hi Leanne, I've only just found your channel. What a lovely birthday present for yourself. It's nice to see someone treating themselves for their birthday :-) I don't know if you have found Sandy Allnock's Copic Hex Chart. It is like the standard Copic colour chart, but it aligns colours which "look" similar - rather than grouped in family types. I find it really useful when colouring. I hope it helps you too. Best wishes.

    Hi! I want to buy for my daughter's bday. What type & how many color of copic should i buy for beginner? She is an architect student. Thank you, dear.

    • @LeanneLandArt
      @LeanneLandArt  4 года назад +1

      I’ve been thinking about your question. For an architect, I would recommend picking up earth tone colours and lighter shades of each so that when coloured in on a drawing the line art would still be visible. If you were to buy markers in a specific colour group (ie ‘green’) I would suggest getting a light and lighter-medium tone of green. And then the same for the other earth tones like grey, and brown/tan and blue (picking up a light and a lighter-medium of each of those colours). I hope that helps!

    im late watching this, but i found this just now, and you made me wish i could win the lottery im not kidding im lucky that i have the 72 set a ciao markers but my chart looks so sad now compared to yours!! i was just curious what you prefer better the sketch or the ciao i wish the sketch was more affordable :( i feel like they have more colors or is it the same?
    thanks for your video! you just made me want to go to japan during covid and see all those copic markers and i wouldnt even know where to begin!!!

    • @LeanneLandArt
      @LeanneLandArt  3 года назад

      Ahhh, I know what you mean! It took me a solid couple of years to build up my collection, but I kept an eye out for sales and used a lot of Michael’s coupons. 🙂 I believe there are a few less colours in the ciao line but the ink is the same, so you could use both sketch and ciao markers together! I’m a big fan of the brush nib for doing large strokes and covering bigger areas without the strong edges so that’s why I like the sketch markers I think. The 72 set is a great amount though! I guess from there you could pick up any complimenting colours to go with the colours you find you use the most. That’s how I grew my collection also. The Copics are so much fun! 😊 Happy colouring!

    Where did you get that color swatch sheet? And what is the book someone talked about in another comment? And can we order direct from Japan and save some money?

    • @LeanneLandArt
      @LeanneLandArt  5 лет назад +1

      You can download the blank colour chart from their official website here: www.copicmarker.com/pages/free-downloads - you'll find a few different downloadable items there, which may also have the book. I'm not sure if ordering from Japan would be cost-effective, although they do offer the ability to buy direct from the official Copic website. You could also try checking the Tokyo Hands website, I do believe they ship international and are based in Japan. Otherwise, I try to buy them using the discount coupons at Michael's for 40% and 50% off. I hope that helps!

  • @jodieillingworth7413
    @jodieillingworth7413 5 лет назад +1

    I don't know if you color with pencils at all or just copics but I saw someone use one if the empty markets to fill it up with gamsol to smooth out the pencil lines and colors. So you could use it for that...i have a question... I noticed that you have some swatches that have a small light colored dot in the top right corner, it almost looks like it could have been made by using the colorless blender. Anyway, just wondered what the dot is for and how it was made. I'm jealous of your haul! I don't have any copics yet. :( I have a large set of Spectrum Noir but I'm having a hard time getting used to them. I have been using my Arteza real brush pens instead and am getting better at those.

    • @LeanneLandArt
      @LeanneLandArt  5 лет назад

      Actually, I do use coloured pencils and I haven’t tried the gamsol yet but I’ve wanted to - I love that idea of using the empty Copic for it, thanks for the tip! The dot on my chart is made using a gold Jelly Roll pen. I use it to mark which colours I have purchased refills for. When I first started with markers I borrowed my sister’s Spectrum Noirs, then I would slowly buy Copic colours that I was missing and use them together with the Spectrum Noirs. Eventually I was able to return her markers. I haven’t tried the Arteza markers yet but they look really fun! Thanks for checking out the video! 😊

    • @jodieillingworth7413
      @jodieillingworth7413 5 лет назад +1

      I'm glad to give you a tip I hope you can use. Just one thing about gamsol is that you need to pour it into the market in a well ventilated room. The gold dots are a great idea. Thanks for all the info. 😊

    • @dorothywong2362
      @dorothywong2362 5 лет назад

      Now that is a good idea... I am using Zest it atm... but never thought of putting it into the empty copic marker... Thanks for the tip. (smiles)

    So how do I blend colors? Is it by the tow going dow or the row going across

    • @LeanneLandArt
      @LeanneLandArt  3 года назад

      It's completely up to you. The rows going down seem to match equally in hue as long as you don't jump too far in one direction between the two colours. If you go across the colour chart 1 or 2 columns and stay in the same brightness range, you can get some interesting blends that way also!

  • @lemondo0

    • @LeanneLandArt
      @LeanneLandArt  5 лет назад +1

      Ooo, that's exciting! I find the lighter colours run out first. And not because I use them the most, but they always seem to be the ones I run out of before anything else. It could be because the pigment is so light I may be putting more ink on the page as well, then I would a darker colour that's easier to see. But I would recommend stocking up on the lighter colours. And then if you have any markers you find yourself using a lot, then be sure to get those colours too! Enjoy your new markers! :)

      I think that's a perfect use for one, especially the detail you could achieve with the brush nib opposed to using a q-tip. I still haven't tried Gamsol yet, but it's definitely on my to-do list. :)
