Dead Reckoning is a game of exploration, piracy, and influence based in a Caribbean-esque setting. Each player commands a ship and crew and seeks to amass the greatest fortune. They do this through pirating, trading, treasure hunting, and (importantly) capturing and maintaining control over the uninhabited but resource-rich islands of the region.

Hey Alex please never hesitate to keep rambling. This is the reason I watch your unboxings. Too many other videos are just here are some cards and here are more cards and I can not show them because of spoilers and that is the video. I will watch your unboxings of games I have no interest in just for the ramblings.
Thanks Michael :)
Received the all in this week too and already played a game with my brother this Friday. We had an absolute blast, very happy with the game. He even said he dreamed about it haha, and wanted to play it soon again. Really want to explore all the different paths to victory, the game seems quite deep and strategic in that regard. This one is a keeper for me for sure.
The metal coins are great. More publishers should pay attention to these, this is how to do metal coins.
Different colours, different sizes, easily distinguishable from each other.
Yep, these are some of the best I've seen
Thanks for this video Alex. I have been waiting for the conclusion to your dead reckoning saga for a while. I too did not back but was able to order a copy. Looks great!
Doing the ship live was great. Thank you Alex for letting us view your struggle.
Got mine the other day as well. Excited to get it to the table soon.
Dead Reckoning was the first Kickstarter we ever backed. We read and watched all kinds of things regarding the campaign and decided that it was much ado about nothing and we stuck with our pledge. Now, after pledging to more than 20 Kickstarter/Gamefound projects, we find ourselves a bit more critical in our thinking about what and what not to back. Most of it has to do with money and/or game play considerations, but we do pay attention to how the campaign is run. If we find ourselves on the fence with regards to the first two considerations, the way the company handles the campaign will often be the deciding factor.
So happy you assembled the ship on camera, no sarcasm!
Lol thanks 😊
So so jelly! I am in Canada and our boat got slowed down a bit. Should be coming in soon. Hit distro on March 10.
Ship build was your best idea ever!
Lol thanks
I'm excited to try this one. I just got my pledge in the mail and can't wait to get it played. :-)
'Treasurous' rambling. Just opened mine this weekend as well. After a long wait, I swallowed my anticipation. And now I am happy with the package.
First I thought I had wrong sea tiles, 6 in English, 3 in French and 3 in German. But it supposed to be like that (still not sure why).Looking forward to your plays and review.
They haven't been entirely clear on the 'why', but I'm not a fan of it. I get the concept (pirates from different nations name the islands), but I can't speak French or German well, so I have a feeling the game will be much more difficult to teach when I need to point at a non English island and try to pronounce it. Ultimately I'll point and acknowledge the shape of the island, rather than butcher the pronunciation, but that's not helpful when teaching.
Also odd, because some of the islands appear in the rulebook with their previous English names, which can be confusing as well.
@@Joshua_Tymchyn French, I can imagine, but German completely baffles me!
AEG needs to release a video so you can build the ship along with them.
Yup.
This entire video length could just be Alex building the ship. I know it took me over 30 mins to build it :)
Lol, took me around 15
Watching you build the ship makes me want an IKEA assembly video 😂
Looked like your ship building went pretty smooth. For me, 90% of the connections were as difficult as the last one you tried on camera that made you stop. Was really surprised to see how easy done of them were for your.
Mine was almost destroyed :( i had to glue the split parts, gently use a hammer, corecly cut the push out tokens with a scalpel and gently widen the slots with a screwdriver to fit it just about. More less 2-3 hours. I was flored how easy and stress free Alex made it look. Guess i am just a clumsy idiot or something :D
@@marcinzootar9305 also took me 2+ hours to build. And mine also needed glue...
The one Alex got looked like how it was supposed to be.
It was useful watching you build the ship
Agreed, I might have given up without seeing your unboxing, Alex. My assembly was quite difficult and included quite a few swears that startled my kids.
The ship was a very difficult build for me. They needed to make the holes bigger
Super i need also to open my copy. Do you think will be a way to combine all the boxes?
I'm curious, has there been, or do you think there can be, a Kickstarter that comes out of the gate with a message along the lines of "we plan to have X number of stretch goals for this entire campaign, no exceptions, in order to hit our estimated delivery date"? Would that take most of the wind out of the campaigns sails, or would that help to set expectations? I think personally I would like to see that kind of messaging up front.
Also there is a, how to reload the box on the inside of the top of the box
I lost it at “We don’t talk about Barrels”
Lol thanks :)
Me too now That song is running through my head.
Lol there’s a diagram on the inside of the box lid to show how to repack the box
Lol I know....I saw it after this video :)
I think I like the way he repacked better than the diagram 😜
Dammit Alex, you got yours before me!! :(
Sorry :)
Ack! Drinks should never be on the table. Never! Your board Games will thank me for it.
To be fair, it was on a coaster :)
Of course who you marry is a trade off. I mean you don't usually have ten people to choose from there and then, but you do a trade off between finding someone else, marrying this person or being on your own. Actually marrying means you both just won the grand prize, I'm happy with that :P
Well yes....but never say it :)
@@BoardGameCo love the fact this comment will never be seen by rina
@@mylor1066 She reads many of the comments....she actually browses the comments more than watches the videos :)
Yeah, your on camera reaction to the additional sleeves was the same as mine when they announced them in the kickstarter. Um... why? So I am wasting half of them if I get that tier? Same with the ghost ship. Um... why? I am throwing one away? They don't both fit in the box... That was my only annoyance with the kickstarter. I don't care about stretch goals, they are fake anyway, any well run kickstarter knows how many will be met before going in and adjusts the tiers depending on how they are doing. I didn't like how they were giving things I didn't want in in bundles, making me pay for stuff I had 0 use for. A lot of the bundle/tear stuff was fixed during the course of the campaign.
I ended up with just the base game, I am happy with that, especially now that I know they are doing a second kickstarter. If I like the game and it hits the table enough I will buy the sagas in KS2
Ah nooo! You put the yellow player pieces in the green box, and the green player pieces in the yellow box!
Lol yep, already been fixed
@@BoardGameCo That's a relief!
🐐🥁👍
Link to knife please 😂
I should have gotten the coins
I picked up the "custom selves" ... they are good and make the game so much better because you can pass around a card and it's clear who it goes back to.
I still believe they should have had "Custom selves" as stretch goal or just standard thing both from a gameplay perspective and an economic perspective. (Print 4 sku's of selves instead of 5 and a higher quantity of the 4 vs tons of 1 and a small amount of 4).
The player cards show the color still though, don't they? So the extra sleeves always felt unnecessary to me. Don't have my copy yet though, so I'm not sure.
Thanks!
@@Joshua_Tymchyn ok, I went and looked. On the base decks, there is a color spot on each card.
If you play with salty dogs - or other additions, they don't.
Having the base color on the sleves themselves makes it easier.
This applies in times when people would want to look at other people's cards that have been crafted ... I expect it with my kids and game groups.
I don't know about adding in additional sagas and such (not opened the one I got yet). Just seems an issue that was easy to avoid by making the "custom selves" standard.
I would bet, when they do an expansion, the base game will come with "custom sleeves"
@@JonathanNation ahh, the Salty Dogs expansion is a great example for the player colored sleeves.
I agree that they should have replaced the standard sleeves after a stretch goal. I've seen a lot of RUclips and BGG content where people are confused by the extra sleeves. It does feel like a waste of plastic too, when you don't need both sets.
Check out this ”tutorial” before building the battleship! 😉👍 ruclips.net/video/WPG5XkcxmmY/видео.html
Too late 🤪
Need a new filler word? Go for the Italian word "Allora". You will love it!
I hated every bit of their KS campaign. I’ll never not mention AEG’s arrogance and I never felt worse backing a game. None of it is John D. Claire’s fault. This is an excellent game that deserved a better campaign and publisher.
Completely disagree with early bird discounts v. add ons. I would much rather some people get a deal rather than have some artificially gated content because someone has more free time than me.
I don't think expecting a lot from people or companies is the problem, you just have to become outcome indifferent with regards to things beyond your control. The way things are...that is your life now, deal with it.
Backed at one point, but the Solo game looked boring, so dropped.
It's really not and it's actually very easy to manage the AI! I don't regret backing this at all :)
@@elzheiz I watched a playthrough and it looked very boring and predictable.
@@Thomas-kx9op that's not my experience with the game, but okay :D
Bummer, but you'll have a chance to correct your mistake when they launch the expansion kickstarter.
I’ve played solo twice and it is terrific.
