Their more urbanized areas (both have extensive nature reserves, and Japan is still largely uninhabited mountain forests) are now, outside of areas preserved for their historical and cultural importance, almost unrecognizable from what they were in 1957, but soaring living standards have been accompanied by plunging fertility rates. Religious and ethnic diversity in Singapore notwithstanding, all of their 3 main ethnic groups (Han Chinese, Tamil Indians, Malays) have seen fertility rates fall below replacement levels. Italy, which has been the most child and family oriented of the European nations that I've lived in, has also seen a plunge in fertility rates, markedly more so than their northerly non-Soviet Bloc neighbors. Denmark did see a slight jump in their fertility rate after a government program of financial incentives and advertising was initiated. This was shortly before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has depressed fertility rates in nearly all developed nations, and I would be surprised if Denmark's fertility rates don't continue their long term decline.

Less humans - more nature. Population of every country should return to what it was 3 centuries ago
Only 3 centuries! You'd want it back 1000 year at least to make difference.

Migration or infertility

If Bangladesh fails to develop before the population ages up, there will be refugee crisis

Moderate Catholic influence is a factor.
@@motherlandbot6837 I'm not that sure. I think it's thanks to the government natalist policy : the government gives a lot of money to families to raise their children.
@@mathias9242 Japan has been trying the same thing, but with little effect. Singapore has also tried an array of incentives and advertising to slow or reverse rapidly falling fertility rates with no significant effect. I lived in both nations 7X starting in 1957, families were rarely large even then, when Japan had recently rebuilt from the war, and Singapore, now one of the most beautiful, clean, and ultramodern cities in the world, was just another dirty, densely populated 'third world' colony.

Competition for Urban land. (Big citites just get bigger while country towns shrink) more expensive food and resources, basically competition for jobs and resources. ie: a college degree now is worth what a high school was in 1950. (femenism and a new cultutre) will never allow motherhood to be respected as the great institution that it really is.

The problem of the world is overpopulation and countless human beings, not the other way round.
Not terribly smart, are you?? Turn off cable news and Twitter, you have been lied to..
The rate of decline isn't fast enough. There's massive overpopulation right now, and it isn't sustainable.
Plus, sub sahara Africa is slated for massive growth before 2100.

I always thought that there will have a population decline in my country Sri Lanka, Because the new generation don't make babies enough and they (Including me 25 years old now) are still living like kids(Mentally) 🤦🏽♂️ And also majority of new born babies are from minority Muslims. So there is a chance Sri Lanka will have a significant Muslim community in future.
