Talking about film I am using my OM-D E-M1 Mark III with the 60mm macro to digitize my negatives. It’s working great with the PhotoShop picture enhancement neural filter. I worked camera retail when the OM-1 came out and was amazed at the size and quality of the camera. I was invested in Minolta at the time so didn’t get one. Did go with the E-1 when I went to DSLR. On another note I find going manual focus and manual exposure for motor sports photography works best for me.
The original OM-1 is a great classic camera. I got inspired by the modern OM-1 to get one as well and invested some time and money to have it properly serviced by a retired former Olympus service specialist. Had the light seals replaced, the prism replaced because the infamous foam residues damaged the old one and had it converted to modern batteries and recalibrated. Will get my first roll of film back developed soon, can’t wait LOL. It is also great fun to adapt the old Zuiko lenses to the modern OM-1, the look and image quality you can get with them is truly amazing!
With the old OM-1 battery, you need to either get a voltage regulator adapter that takes hearing aid batteries, or get it adjusted by a good service engineer to correct voltage for modern batteries. It’s best to use silver oxide batteries rather than lithium ones as they give a more stable reading and tend to last longer.
Right place right time on eBay and I guess some luck involved as well. I’m glad you like listening to my chats and hopefully I will keep disseminating interesting information that hopefully helps everybody that listens.
Improvements in keystone correction for jpegs? Why don't they release an update for the OM1 that fixes the tracking function that everybody says doesn't work. That would make a lot more business sense than improving the keystone correction. Don't get me wrong. I like my OM1 but I have little or no use for focus tracking. But if they want to compete with Sony and Canon and Nikon, they need to improve the tracking (if they can).
What a fun & informative vid. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Fun video. 🎉

Would love to see a FW update on the OM-1 to enhance the touch screen capabilities to include menu function and pinch to zoom.

I completely agree. Firmware 2.0 hopefully.🤩
The 300 is quite a bit sharper than the 150-400 according to Jeremy Neipp’s recent RUclips reviews.
