I was born in 1956 and my first car at 16 was a 1970 mustang Mach I with a 351c and a Hurst 4 speed transmission. I grew up with the best looking muscle cars and music. Those were the days 😅😊😊
Good times! Thanks for sharing!
The Ford 429 ci Cobrajet Engine was arguably the best Ford big block motor ever made. Had one or a couple of their engineers taken the cast iron blocked motor, and switched out the super heavy cast iron block for much lighter, heat resistant, Titanium, - as material for the cast iron block, and the precision crank shaft & lifters, also replacing the radiator with aircraft aluminum, along with along with all the rubber hoses and wiring heat-shielded, aluminum semiflex X-mesh, fitted aluminum, tooled fittings at every point where either hoses or wiring came close to the high heat generated by this racing specialty, precision-crafted motor, & thereafter creating a new, lightweight, high-heat resistant, 4 speed transmission, sending all of that serious power through an unbreakable set of 3:96(?), or 4:11 Positraction rear end gears!
Once "dyno'ed," it is my firm belief that the Ford 429 Cobrajet motor would have been putting out a whopping 1000 to 1250 horsepower, - and, even more than that in foot - pounds of torque, and depending upon it's application, ( be it used in a new sports, muscle, personal luxury car, or a short wheelbased Jeep, any variation of racing Truck, 4 WD/offroad, semi-tractor, prospecting, crewcab, utility bodied, or the highest-selling, highly personalized, Personal Sport-Utility Trucks of today, this would be the best engine ever produced in the U.S.A.!
I hope big V8’s make a comeback.
What about the Ford XY GTHO 4 door Falcon from Australia? 0 to 100(60) in 6.6sec. Capable of over 140mph. Official HP was 300, but in real life, at least 350. At the time, it was the fastest 4-door production car of the world.
Could be. We only highlighted U.S.A. models.
The 70 Thunderbird was the ugliest tbird EVER, AND THERE SHOULD NEVER HAVE EXISTED A 4 DOOR TBIRD!
Can’t argue with that! Thanks for watching and commenting.
