Today we are going Manga shopping in Manchester! Manchester is the other city besides Leeds to have a Travelling Man AND Forbidden Planet International! So I was super excited to check them out especially since I hadn't been since December 2019!! 🤯

Wow the Travelling Man selection is so much bigger than when I was last there around 2 years ago, I remember it being a really small selection. The stuff in their different sections seems like a lot of it is out of place for sure but the selection is nice. I was surpised to see some harder to find stuff there like those early Laid Back Camp volumes I'm currently waiting on a reprint for! Yotsuba is one of the most wholesome series ever, it will make you laugh and smile I recommend picking it up 100% :D
I was surprised and not at the same time cause the Leeds one has expanded so much I assumed the others would have I just didn't know how 😆
Yen Press seem pretty on it with trying to get reprints out it just seems to be taking time 😢
I kinda wish I'd gone for them in hindsight... Maybe I will have to go back for them 🤣🤔
I love Travelling Man and I go there usually twice a month. I was initially put off by how empty the shelves were at Forbidden Planet 2 months ago but it looks like they’re back on track now and actually have newer volumes of things so that’s going to be visited next in January. Good to see that everything is included in 3 for 2, including JJK and Chainsaw Man. How sneaky of TM with JJK 0 and Tokyo Ghoul 1 volumes 😁 both hard to find. But Travelling Man restocked JJK 0 3 or 4 times in the past week online so I already snagged a copy. Excited for the Yona reprints - it’s good that at least there’s an estimate given from Viz as to when the reprint should be expected
Oh same I'm in the one in Leeds more often than I care to admit 😆
If you're after shonen jump then yeah they had a bunch of volumes but anything else was pretty poor 😂 A lot of the new releases I was on the hunt for were Yen Press or Seven Seas and there was so little of either of them 😢
I think TM put volumes on their store for a month or so and then once the demand there dies down they bring the volumes in store so I'm just biding my time to be able to pick up a JJK 0 since my preorder got cancelled 😤
My worry is Viz said the soonest they would reprint is the summer so it won't be before then but it could certainly be pushed back 😢😢😢

Thank you so much!! I'm so sorry to say horror is a genre I generally try to avoid 😆 However a series that I understand might be a horror and is big in the community at the moment is Summertime Rendering. Apologies if it turns out not to be!

I always wondered what price these shops sell light novels for? And are they in the 3 for 2 offer?
Prices really vary by publisher and the size of the volume. They're typically more than manga so likely somewhere in the teens? In TM pretty much all the light novels they sell aren't viz so won't be in the 3for2 offer and honestly I can't remember if FP included them as I haven't bought light novels there in person myself.
When I was picking up btooom!, Leeds priced each at £16.99… for a single volume… absolutely wallet draining

it has a forbidden planet,tokyo toys, a big waterstones and worlds apart which is a forbidden planet international.
Oh absolutely I really really really really want to go but getting to Birmingham from where I am isn't the easiest 😆
hi! loved watching your video and thought i’d give my input on splatoon- it’s definitely for people who’ve played the game but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it! the thing is the humor is definitely more childish which i personally enjoy so if you’re a fan of pantsing and really dumb comedy it might be for you!

That sounds just like the other nintendo manga series that I've read (Mario, Kirby and Animal Crossing) I haven't played any Kirby but still enjoyed the manga so yeah I might try diving into the splatoon too thanks 🤗💖

7! Waiting for 8 to hopefully come out in January but they're often delayed releases in the UK so its more likely to be February 😆
@@Caketinz Wow cool I'm getting mine on my birthday my bro gets mine on online. And yep I got the 7th one already. We'll go to stores and shops when we can but only if when there some of the books are in stock already.
I live in Manchester and always love going in to the Leeds stores more. . .it's such a shame. . . Shopping online is way better . .
I'm so sorry!!! 😆😆 I wonder if I just went on a bad day cause the weather was bad and there was so many people. But yes Leeds and online are still going to be my go to for manga shopping 😎
I know you're complaining about Forbidden Planet, but, that has a much bigger selection of One Piece and Dragon Ball. I'm trying to collect both of those and my local Barnes and Noble has next to nothing concerning those titles.
Your disappointment is the same reason I've not bothered going back to the Manchester shops since I visited earlier in the year, and that was after not visiting for more than 5 years before that. Its almost exactly the same in forbidden planet since I went. Just far less volumes of Magi and a few more volumes of Children of the Whales.
Even if your desperate, I would agree to keep away from the D.Gray-man 3-in-1's, bought two myself to catch up on the series after a number of years(At £6 a piece). Paper is so thin, though I've not had any issue with the spines breaking. They just don't feel pleasant to read.
And yes, I had more or less the same opinion of smell and the feeling of the place being less looked after? when I visited Manchester. Don't remember it being as bad before. Kind of sad, really. : /
I remembered it not being a horrendously amazing selection from the last time I went a couple of years ago and I can't tell if the selection is more sparse or I've just varied my collection a whole bunch more 😆
Oh I am already collecting D-Gray Man singles I just can't remember if I'd seen the 3-in-1's and I was intrigued 👀
Yeah I used to go to Manchester a whole bunch more a few years ago and I don't remember it feeling so sad. Maybe I caught it on a bad day but I don't think I'm going to be rushing back 😢
Is manga easy to buy in the UK?
Its not too bad especially in the north there's both Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man in person and places like Blackwell's online. Plus theres always amazon and book depository and second hand places like world of books. I think the main issue we have is most manga is printed in North America so they are more likely to get new volumes (new releases and rereleases) before us. We have to often wait a while for reprints.
its hard to buy for me since i live in a place in europe without any travelling man's or forbidden planets too near me so i just buy mine online
hopefully if my grandad isnt working during the easter holidays i should be going to manchester anime and gaming con in april so i can get some while i'm there
