The reason I started our RUclips channel was to just show the lifestyle of flower farming and family life not so much of a learning channel, but It's more about creating a beautiful life in a simple way. Flower farming is profitable for sure, so keep it up, and you will find your people and way, especially on your channel. So far, you're doing great. Happy growing, my friend.
You guys are being very smart on how you do your flower farm! There is a very big flower farmer youtube channel that is now 5 years in and they were aiming to be profitable at year 5 but keep making very big investments , grow way more that they can sell and always are running out of time to get ready for things. It's only because they have youtube, that they are surviving. It's almost like they do the blunders intentional to get more views... That is why I love your channel. You are very on the ball.
I agree they have made some decisions solely because it probably made good content, But they also have different goals. They know what weekly $ amount they need/want to support their family. So they know that have to continue to grow their farm bigger each year, until they have enough product. However, if they truly don't have enough time to harvest everything at their current size, they shouldn't increase yet, because that's just more flowers that will go in the compost...
@@ElderandOakFarm just going to have to disagree with this. What they’re doing is not wise and they’re not going to be profitable. It follows none of the advice from any of the actually profitable farms. They’re entertaining and fun to watch. They are not a model to accept or follow if trying to build your own farm.
@CoramDeoFarm I am not saying its what I would do... & I'm not saying I agree with their decisions, but I understand some of them... like clearing more land, investing in more things like peonies & things, but some- like especially growing more Annuals each year, I definitely don't. I understand their decision to continue to invest in perennials & some things because their goal isn't to "be profitable by year 1" their goal is to be making a certain amount per week & be profitable by year 5. Their farm needs to replace both of their incomes. You may be profitable by year 2, but $3,000 of profit isn't going to pay any bills... if they continue to increase the size of their farm, they have the oppurtunity to make say $100,000 in profit, that's something that will pay their bills... but they should prepare the land (while they have tike, like they said) but not plant it full of things they don't have time tonharvest. That's just a huge waste of time & money! I also feel that sometimes they pretent to "not have time to get everything done" just for their story line.
I've heard Ean and Serena on Red Roof Farm voice their struggle with what's good for their farm and what's good for RUclips. While also saying it's almost detrimental to the farm. The connection between channel creator and their community of subscribers is indescribable and priceless. I don't envy Ean and Serenas' challenge with feeling like they need to decide between their dream of profitable farming and their hugely successful flower farm RUclips channel. I greatly appreciate the knowledge I've gained from their channel. @coramDeaFarm you are very organized. I like your idea of focusing on the business side of flower farming. That topic is definitely lacking content. Jesse at B.A.R.E Farm, seems to be the only channel providing that content. I look forward to learning from your business for used content. I also believe your channel is unique due to your faith Popcorn! I watched the whole video. I 100% have experienced the organic growth of my channel. Regardless of my audience, I stay true to my goal of providing flower farming content for Zone 9b California and my journey starting a U-pick farm from scratch less than a year ago. Final popcorn. Happy New Year to you and your family!
I've been binging your videos for a few days now and I appreciate the info so much on the logistics side of business... I feel like growing the flowers is fairly easy and straightforward but the business aspects are the parts I don't know about and I really appreciate how thorough and open you are with what works and what doesn't ❤
As a fellow homeschool mom of 4 and first year flower farmer, I so appreciate your content! Thank you for staying true and being open and honest. Popcorn!
So those of us who watch all the way through do so because we aren't just looking to be entertained but we really want to learn something and we believe that you have something to teach us. I am coming into flower farming as a way to create revenue to support a food garden to provide fruits and veggies for our local food shelf. Your business advice is SO welcome! We live 10 miles south of the Canadian border. Our frost free growing days run from about June 1 through Sept 21st. Our advantage is that we are just 5 miles outside of major tourist town with tons of traffic especially during the growing season. I am really appreciating your friendship with one another. You mentioned a board meeting...are you a corporation? oh... and popcorn...lol
49:44 that’s how we did it too on our market garden! Taking a full day off is a game changer and a must to not burn out. Except watering the nursery, we would try to leave the farm and go for a hike
Popcorn Not only did I watch it to the end, I was sad to see it end. Spent the day in the greenhouse listening to your content then brought it in to listen while cooking dinner. Never change y’all are a breath of fresh air.
Kettle Corn Popcorn...my favorite! Perfect video to watch this morning on the 1st of the New Year, 2024 as I am about to enter my first flower farming season with my twin girls. Growing up I remember my father telling us to practice the 'Seven P's (proper-prior-planning-prevents-pretty-poor-performance). So, I have been reading and researching as much as I can take in (can't afford the courses out there because I need the money for seed and other startup costs). Your videos have been an enormous source of inspiration and information, thank you. Best wishes for a prosperous and Happy New Year! (Double Trouble Farm, Ohio, 6b)
Popcorn! Long form talking videos are great for listening like a podcast. Appreciate all the helpful pieces throughout thanks for touching on the pests!
Popcorn! I have learned a lot from you two. Thank you for all the information that you have given to help us with our flower farms. I just finished my first year of my U-pick flower farming. By the way I watch to the end of your videos! I can't thank you two for all the help on RUclips and on instagram. God Bless
I watched to the end😊 I'm impressed with your videos, you're very wise with how you run your flower farm, especially considering how new you are at this! You're very generous to share your trials and errors, failures and successes with the rest of us❤
Popcorn 🍿 I always save your videos to listen to while I’m putting my daughter to sleep! Love your channel and especially your words on children in this video. Children are such a blessing! Happy new year!
🍿😂 I’d like to see more educational videos from you. Record-keeping, lessons learned, things you like or don’t like about flower farming, etc. thank you!
Popcorn. Love the content in your videos & always watch the entirety. I’ve been a fan since I found you. Great interview with Jenny & look forward to next week’s & others to come. Have a wonderful 2024! I can’t wait to see your Spring flowers!
🍿 I am working on my flower farm. It started as clearing a dying forest for a goat pasture until first excavator bill came in, than shifted to Lavender Farm but I have added in so many flowering herbs and now some cut flowers to fill in the 3 years to maturity for lavender plug growth time. My focus is different than yours but some of your things can translate and all your business stuff does translate very well. I have changed my mind set already with several things I have learned from your videos. I distill for Hydrosol, make healing herbal oils in a linament mascerated oil which is a month long process and any essential oils I currently distill I keep since I am an aromatherapist. I am coming from a healing angle for these flowers as many are medicinal but a beautiful market bouquet IS healing as well. Sitting in the flower gardens watching the bees and flowers is healing. You are not joking how things change from year 1 to 2 to 3. We are 3 years into building and still a long way off from being profitable but we are getting product now and starting sales to the public. I hate social media marketing but did tip my toe into local Facebook stuff this last year and had some surprising positive returns from local customers. Thank you for your profitable farmstand video. I already have a drive through U driveway but had never thought of a self serve kiosk. Brilliant! Brainstorming how to implement it all day yesterday while out on the tractor for 4+ hours snow plowing. 💜
POPCORN!! Y’all are so cute!! I love your videos and how you unashamedly incorporate your faith into everything you do!! I pray that God will bless your 3rd year and direct your path as y’all make decisions for your farm and family! Happy New Year!
Popcorn! I don't think that I will ever have a flower farm but I do enjoy watching your videos all the way through anyway. As far as bugs go, I would recommend watching videos by John Kempf. He talks about how if you have truly healthy plants there will be no bugs. In Africa somewhere there was a plague of locusts and other fields were being decimated and the actual healthy plants in an adjacent field were completely unaffected. It can happen. I've only been really looking into his videos and also videos with Matt Powers the last number of months so I haven't done anything that they talk about with my plants yet. (It is now winter here) They do mostly talk about food plants but I'm sure some of the things could be helpful in your situation as well. Just a thought.
My tulips are definitely a warmup for the season. They're not my most profitable crop but people get back into the habit of weekly flowers. Mothers is beginning April in Ireland this year. Am praying I have flowers

We honestly love hearing this! Always a joy to learn something new :)
This was so much fun to listen to
Oh thank you!!
I appreciate your business and experience. But I also enjoy your growing experiences. I am in the Phoenix area and you seem to have some of the same problems with climate that I do. I don’t have the wind, but I have a much greater heat problem. With a very short spring. I do have a tulip question do you get the pre-chilled tulips.
we chill them ourselves by requesting October delivery then putting in our fridges
