  • A viewer asked me a few weeks ago if I had a video on using the Car Scanner app with an OBD II dongle, so here it is. There a lot of people more knowledgeable about it than me, but this is how I use it. Hopefully this can help someone. I upgraded my app to the Pro version so it wouldn't have ad banners on it, but the features I talk about are on the free version of the app as well.
    Here’s the link to the dongle on Amazon

    Hi, i have an ev with the electric traction fault. Dash powers on from 12V standard battery and shows the fauts warnings. Will this tool work and read/reset the error codes?

    Do I have to unplug the OBD each time that I turn the car off? Will it otherwise drain the 12V battery?

    How accurate is the "EV battery power" when measuring HP on an EV? What's the best way to capture it?... Thanks

    • @SpinnerEV
      @SpinnerEV  7 дней назад

      If EV battery power gets displayed in kW, the formula I found is to multiply that by 1.34 to get HP. Not sure how accurate that is, but it’s what I was able to find.

    Does it need to be an EV specific OBD2 reader or any obd2 reader will work?

    OK...thanks for your thoughts on OBD BLE security issues. I decided to go with a vLinker MC+ but that was because not owning a Bolt yet (pick it up in 6 days!) I didn't realize that accessing the OBD port was that easy. Am I correct that it is easy as I see in the video? So...I just wanted to see how well your VEEPEAK is working for you. Do you find any glitches in data when you uplug it in the middle of a charge and/or trip when you take a break? TIA!
