Thanks for another beautiful moment of serenity Alfy!! Northern Dancer is looking gorgeous and comfortable. Loved the meeting of Moon Dancer and the name association. It was also nice to see you cooking and using the galley. The drone shots were beautiful as well. Thanks! Hi Devlin! 😊⛵⛵⛵
I think all online dictionaries should just link to this video for definitions of "Serenity" and for "Serendipity". A beautiful spirit follows your videos, Alf. Thanks for sharing this episode.
Having a yacht is like being a turtle. You carry your home with you. How great it is to start a day before my daily bicycle ride and see another great episode. Thanks for that.
Alfy, that was one of your best episodes to date on Northern Dancer V. She looked so tranquil in that cove, no wonder you stayed an extra night there. All the best, Richard
A very nice account of your last stop before home port shot in your quiet, competent manner. We anchored almost in the exact spot in late August and discovered some great trails and kayaking, not to mention the quirky history of the place. We’re ever on the lookout for Northern Dancer as we ply the same waters. Nice job on those hash browns😉
Hello. Thank you for the great videos. Princess Cove is beautiful. I anchored there a few years ago and the wind came in from the NW. Was a little bumpy. Upon departure, my anchor got caught up on the bottom there. Took about 20 minutes to free it up. Last year I anchored just south of there in a very small anchorage, Conover Cove (You can see it on your Navionics screenshot). Room for just 4 or 5 boats. Enter and exit only at high tide. Great protection. Keep the amazing vids coming.
Glad you enjoy the videos and Wallace Island is a great spot, but NW winds are not so good for Princess Cove for sure. Good to hear you got your anchor free, I had never heard of that happening there before so good to know. I don't consider Princess Cove to be a great holding spot and try to go there when conditions are right. Conover Cove is great too, if you stay on the dock don't leave any food on deck or in the cockpit, the pesky Raccoons will take things right off the boats. Stay turned for more to come. :)
How fantastic that Walace Isl. is available to you as a a short get away spot. I was there about 5 years ago on a trip to the gulf islands out of Bellingham. Princess cove was the highlight of the trip!!
I’m not sure either about the sound. It happens on other videos of yours as though they are on different tracks. Either way, I totally enjoy your travels! Thx!
Hey Alfie for those of us who don't normally make hash browns for breakfast could you share the recipe? The seasonings you used apart from what I assume was flour don't look familiar to those of us watching from Australia..... Thanks Mate
It is pretty simple, yellow potatoes and onions, and a meat of your choice if you like (bacon, steak, meatballs, etc) add spices of your choice ( I use seasoning salt and a southwest blend that I get from the Northwest Territories), olive oil, and nearing the end I put some white sugar on the caramelize on the potatoes and helps them brown up. Enjoy. :)
I anchored there last June, solo, so I didn't do a stern tie as well. It was busy then, but I was adjacent to the dinghy dock where there isn't any shore ties. Looks a lot more peaceful in November, nice choice !
Definitely a busy spot in the summer, which is why I wanted to stay there this time of year. I am sure I will be back there for another Winter stop over. :)
We just did a 2 week trip to Desolation Sound together if you look at the videos posted just prior to this one, and she is co-owner of our s/v Northern Dancer V. I just get out for solo sailing when possible. :)
You are welcome and glad you enjoyed it. Great to hear you have been following along for so long and the faucet is from Ikea and should be on their website still. The only one they had that had the bronze look. :)
Really enjoy the content - thanks. How are you doing the varnishing in such a cold wet environment. The boat I'm purchasing will need some attention and I've been concerned that with out a boat house it wouldn't get done. Hints will be appreciated.
So glad you enjoy the content. :). All of the fixed items were varnished over the summer months, although last winter I had my boat cover on so I was able to varnish the cock pit, the butterfly hatch was apart and varnished indoors over the winter. Grab rails, the brow, top cap, etc (all things affixed) have been done in good weather. A boat house would help for off season varnishing, but warmer temps is the key I think. :)
Thank you and I use a Canon 80D DSLR camera which is sometimes mounted on SCORP-C gimbal, and a go pro, plus my DJI drone. That is it and hope that helps. :)
I enjoyed your video very much. Peaceful and quiet. A nice way to live.
So glad you enjoyed this one. :)
Excellent video! Thanks! Boat looks stunning!
Thank you thank you! :)
FINE BUSINESS! Frosty mornings now!CHEERS from HERE!

Long time listener first time caller. Videography. Spacing. Music. You’ve allowed me to take some deep breaths and imagine me there. ❤
So glad to hear you enjoyed this one and were able to take some deep breaths. :)
A Mountie hiding ou for a couple days? Hah! That aside, great as usual and very soothing.
I was wondering if anyone would catch that comment. hah

Gourmet cooking on a boat. Mmm.
Always fun cooking and baking on the boat, and the food always seems to taste better when out cruising. :)

Looked like a wonderful sail.

Congrats on the Pacific Yachting photo contest result. I managed an honourable mention. Cheers.
Congrats on the honourable mention. Did I get a mention in the Pacific Yachting magazine? :)
Indeed - 2nd place with a great ND5 water-mirror profile.

Beautiful brightwork! I'm still working on mine and hope it looks like yours...
Thank you and good luck with yours. :)
Another amazing one. Thank you for showing me what my life is going to be like.
Thank you and exciting for you to get out there yourself in the future. :)

It definitely is a great stop in the Gulf Islands and keep yours eyes out for us and say hello if we cross paths. :)

@@lifeislikesailing sounds delicious 😋
We tried to stay there but missed the last spot, summer is busy. So had to move on to Montague another great spot to anchor.
A very busy spot in the summer months, hopefully you can get a spot next time. :)

She's looking good! What varnish did you use on the brightwork?
Thank you and I use Epifanes varnish. :)
So has the lady in your life abandoned ship ? What a sweet person she is .

Another great video. Thanks! I’m not sure why but I had no sound on the segment with you in the galley cleaning up. ?? ⚓️🇺🇸
Thank you and so glad you enjoyed it, not sure what happened to the sound? It worked when I checked on RUclips.
Bright work looks great. Well done. Did you use VHB tape to set the acrylic ports in the butterfly hatch?
Thank you, I used sikaflex to bed the plexiglass and teak systems for the teak.

So glad to hear that and by electronics, you mean camera equipment, or chartplotter, radar, etc?

Nice episode, as allways! Have you got yourself a drone?
Thank you and yes, I finally got one after so many years of thinking about it. :)
Thanks for another great video! Been following for many years, do you have a link for the tall fausset?

That helped - most of my boating was done in SE Alaska and sunny/warm days were hard to find.
Your video quality is fantastic. what do you shoot it with? Apologies if it's posted somewhere already!

Do u come by CR? How hard is it to learn liveaboard?
