It's so weird to me that 'dumplings' and 'hot-pot' now seem _primarily_ used in the US to mean East Asian dishes, when those are actually the names of British dishes that were just used as (rather inaccurate because they're not that similar) English translations of the East Asian ones.
hot pot is so good! I have a few hot pot stuff at home and I think I just decided what I’m having for dinner. EDIT: lol I feel you on the broth being really hot. Last time I went to a hot pot restaurant we ordered the “mild” spicy broth, none of us (including the friend who had wanted medium spicyness) could tolerate it, and we had to ask the waitress to take out most of the chilies. And even then only that one friend could really tolerate it. Fortunately we’d ordered two different broths.
