I’ve just recently been diagnosed with Adenomyosis, I’ve had excruciating pain every month but I’m also very tender and sore the rest of the time, this video has been very informative thank you
Hi Zoe, we are sorry to hear of your Diagnosis and hope that you manage to find some relief and help with your Gynaecologist soon for the Pain. We are happy to hear the video was informative and helpful - thanks for your feedback :-)
@@VitalabFertility Thank you so much, I've suffered from excruciating pain since I was 12 when they began, I'm 38 now and I have only just been diagnosed, I had a child when I was 23, it took me 9 months to conceive, I thought I had endometriosis. Thank you again.

I went through years of diagnostic testing before my doctor found it after a laparoscopic procedure. I’d never heard of it. When I finally had a diagnosis, I was relieved. I knew it wasn’t all in my head. My symptoms became almost constant and started to make it difficult to eat. I guess my uterus was so enlarged, every time I digested food, I started having painful contractions. I was happy to say goodbye to my uterus.
It is extremely painful and your periods are 10xs heavier then normal ones (I could bleed through a super tampon and overnight pad together in 2 hours) i got a partial hysterectomy and I feel a million times better. Thank you for the great video! I went to my obgyn seeking a hysterectomy for my chronic period pain, and he agreed and said he thinks I might have adenomyosis. I'd never heard of it before and had previously thought I had endometriosis or PMDD but no cysts showed up in ultrasounds previously. I've tried a lot of treatments & nothing has helped enough to improve my quality of life-- I can't go to college or hold a job due to the pain, fatigue, constant bleeding, etc. It's like you said, you're aware of your uterus 24/7. I've wanted mine out since I started getting periods and I finally got a potential diagnosis and the greenlight for a hysterectomy :)

I am 48 years old and I have been suffering with Adenomyosis since 2015. I still don’t want to remove my uterus; I also have anemia and I get transfusion and I have tried some of medicine. I had a UFE which it works for almost 2 years, but my menstrual bleeding is back. I don’t know what else to do. I get a lot of pain too. They have Dr in Europa, China, India, etc that do adenomyosis remover from the uterus, but they don't remove the Uterus like here in the USA. In the USA they only want to remove the Uterus and not bother helping the female to keep their Uterus which is sad. They should take classes from the others Dr who know how to remove the Adenomyosis.

Spiked bowling ball is what mine felt like, and even mittelschmerz knocked me down for days. The constant nausea, inability to eat or keep food down all pointed to a rebellious uterus. Great video!

I’m 24 and just got diagnosed with adenomyosis, is this an abnormal age to be diagnosed? And Will this impact my fertility majorly when the time comes?
Hi Ellie - we are sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Hi Leslie, We are so sorry to hear of your diagnosis and how long you have been suffering with this disease. There are estrogen blocking medications which you can speak to your DOCTOR about and ask them if they would recommend for you and the length of use. Examples: a) GNRH analogs or antagonists and/or b) anti estrogens in the form of Letrazole, Tamoxifen, etc. These are scripted meds which you will need to be monitored by your doctor whilst using & to find the right medication and dosage for you. We hope you are able to find some help and relief soon.
Hi Dr. Thank you for the video. I'm awaiting a bilateral oophorectomy. Just wondered if it will stop the symptoms of adeno or if they should be removing my uterus too? Thanks x
Hi there - why are they removing your ovaries? - if your uterus is removed, then yes the adenomyosis symptoms will stop as the disease is in your Uterus, thus if removed then the source of the symptoms are removed. If however you have Endometriosis - that is found outside the uterus (such as how you explaining perhaps with your oophorectomy) then perhaps it will help those symptoms. But these are two different diseases (Adeno or Endo) as their locations vary - so it is important you know which one you have - or even if you have both - as then different surgeries would be needed to stop one or all of the symptoms you are experiencing, if you are no longer wanting to have children ofcourse.
I had my first ovarian cysts surgery in 2018 and now I have been diagnosed of both Adenomyosis and endometriosis,, what are my chances of having children?? One of my Fallopian tube is blocked because of the surgery..I’m 35 years old

You can go directly with IVF, as my AMH level is 0.23.. We're ready to go through the Ivf, but there is a huge confusion that we must go through the surgery with histeroscopy or not .. As we don't live in India, or we'd have come directly to your clinic for a suggestion.. So please, Could you suggest us something important please??? Thanks..

I’ve just had an ultrasound of which adenomyosis is suspected but not officially diagnosed. I have been on birth control pills for years…a very low dose birth control. My periods are excruciatingly painful if I am not on birth control. Would it be recommended for me to go off of my birth control and begin estrogen blocking therapy? What happens after the therapy? Am I then “cured” of adenomyosis or will it then return? I think I need to go see a urogynocologist as my doctor is not overly helpful.

What issues arise with a hysterectomy down the road? A friend's wife was having issues with too many frequent UTIs and the issue was wrongly diagnosed suspecting the kidneys. A skilled doctor then determined because of the hysterectomy the organs have realigned and caused light uncontrollable urine discharged into the urethra which consequently lead to UTIs. If this is the case...whats there to protect from this Dr. ?
Thank you for the comment and question, we unfortunately cannot comment on this case and would recommend they seek help directly from a skilled healthcare professional like you mentioned to advise them. Whenever a procedure is recommend, it needs to be discussed at length including the risks between that doctor and patient.

Estrogen blocking is at 2 levels. 1 by temporarily switching off the pituitary gland that stimulates estrogen and that is when we use GNRH analogs or antagonists. 2 you can decrease peripheral estrogren production blocked with anti estrogens in the form of Letrazole, Tamoxifen.

So I just saw your video on adenomyosis. I am a 51 year old female from India and have just been diagnosed via usg the similar condition of adenomyosis. Here Doctors tell me that the only treatment for this condition is hesterectomy, since my family is complete and do not want to have children anymore. I also went through a D N C with polyectomy as there was also an indication of polymenoreaha. I want to know if I can treat my adenomyosis and avoid the hesterectomy. Pls advice Regards, Aparna Sharma
Hello Aparna, thank you for your question. The issue is that adenomyosis will require hormonal treatment as well as surgery in later life and as you are in menopause and your family is complete- if your symptoms are severe then a hysterectomy would be advised. The only way to fully stop adenomyosis is with a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus). Since adenomyosis causes diffuse, often fingerlike projections of tissue to invade the uterine wall, we can’t just go in and remove the abnormal tissue like we might be able to do with fibroids. The ovaries and fallopian tubes can stay in place.

Which estrogen blocking meds are being used as adenomyosis solution?
I had my first ovarian cysts surgery in 2018 and now I have been diagnosed of both Adenomyosis and endometriosis,, what are my chances of having children?? One of my Fallopian tube is blocked because of the surgery..I’m 35 years old

Good day- we use a number of different medications and brands- each individual case is different . The best would be to schedule an appointment so we can discuss your case .

Good morning doctor 🙏 I am infected from adinomasis ...I have no baby.. 😭😭😭 I wouldn't understand ur speech...pls 🙏🙏🙏tell me wat is best treatment for adinomasis pls reply me.....
We do discuss the treatment options available in the video for patients with adenomyosis. Importantly you need to be managed by a specialist doctor who can advise you & administer the correct treatment or options for you specifically.
I always feel like I have a fist in my tummy. It hurts. All. The. Time. I have been going from gyn to gyn about it since 40. I just get told I’m perimenopausal. It will go away with menopause. I’m now 56. Still no menopause. 16 years of pain. Last year I got diagnosed with adenomyosis. Guy says oh if we had known we would have done a hysterectomy which I have been begging for for over a decade. But now, surely now, menopause is imminent. I have no more faith in doctors.
That is so sad, this is why we create this type of content- to help spread the word and educated patients and other practitioners
Keep educating! If it saves someone else from this, it would be awesome! Thank you.
I was diagnosed in 2018 with both endometriosis and andenomyosis 2weeks ago i had the endometriosis removed and was told my only tube was blocked and that nothing can be done. I have 1 8year old son but I really want to fall pregnant again what are my chances?
You would benefit greatly by having an appointment with a Fertility Specialist to discuss your options for conceiving.
I have pain when I am not bleeding. I have been diagnosed medically, I do not want an hysterectomy though. Anyone have any over the counter medicine that has helped them ? Thanks
Hi there, we are not aware of over the counter medications which work sufficiently. There are other estrogen blocking medications which you can speak to your DOCTOR about and ask them if they would recommend for you and the length of use.
Examples: a) GNRH analogs or antagonists and/or b) anti estrogens in the form of Letrazole, Tamoxifen, etc.
These are scripted meds which you will need to be monitored by your doctor whilst using & to find the right medication and dosage for you.
What are the estrogen blocking medication that is used for adenomyosis ? Is it raloxifine?
Estrogen blocking is at 2 levels. 1 by temporarily switching off the pituitary gland that stimulates estrogen and that is when we use GNRH analogs or antagonists. 2 you can decrease peripheral estrogren production blocked with anti estrogens in the form of Letrazole, Tamoxifen.
@@VitalabFertility Thank you for the answer doc. Do you use both Tamoxefine and Letrozole together ? For
How long due you use them? Can letrozole be given for premenopausal women for adenomyosis. I have read that letrozole is used only in postmenopausal women can it cause any issues if used in premenopausal women for adenomyosis.
Thank you and appreciate for taking your time to respond.
@@psychiatrist123 these are great questions and these medications are scripted and this needs to be discussed with your prescribing/treating doctor. They will need to find the right combination and dosage of medications for you and your specific scenario. This is not something "generic" we can advise on via social media.
We hope that you do get help & find the right doctor to manage you going forward.

Pls advice
Regards,
Aparna Sharma
I had no pain no fever no symptoms only heavy menstrual bleeding
I m 32 yr old,I have bulky uterus and adino...two ivf failed with my own egg and one donor egg..but I really don't want to give up to have a child. Can I try another ivf .

Thank you for your comment and question, unfortunately clinical questions need to be addressed to your Healthcare Professional directly (via consultation) and cannot be answered via social media. We would recommend you see a specialist Gynaecologist if you have completed your family and you are considering a hysterectomy.
Thank you so much doctor for this very informative vedio. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis three years back. Firstly had a mirena placed, then had to take it off because I had to undergo cone biopsy as my gynaecologist found a suspicious lesion on my cervix.(Its' histopathological diagnosis was a nabothian cyst). Then temporarily I was placed on contraceptive pills and now I wish to have a more permanent solution. I already have one child. Would you recommend hysterectomy for me?
NO!!! Please don't let doctors remove your Uterus. It's other alternatives out there okay.
Dr. would a low iron count make this any worse?

Hi Dr Yossi.. I suffer from this and it is so painful for me every month.. I exercise frequently and try to eat clean and healthy. But it is still so painful. I don’t know what to do. Will inserting IUD mirena help? Or what treatment do you suggest? Also, may I take this supplement (DIM - Diindolylmethane)?
Please please help.. and I look forward to your reply.. 🙏🏻

Will these meds reduce the size of the uterus Doc?
@@onoshiovibes3802 yes the meds help reduce the disease which in turns means the size of the uterus, as typically the uterus is enlarged because of the disease.
Endometriosis is outside the uterus adenomyosis is inside
Absolutely correct!

Hi Penny - do you have a question or comment for us?
As a post menopausal woman with adenomyosis would it be not beneficial then to be on a estradiol patch because it feeds off of estrogen? I was using the patch and continued to bleed off and on for months. As soon as I stopped the patch the bleeding ceased.
I just diagnosed last week 😞I requested to take out my ovaries n my uterus already because they found cyst also in my right ovaries 🥲
