That one panel gap looks like the shell has flexed aswell.? Softops do this over the years.

@@glennpowell3444 when restoring mine i had the seats done, the old guy who did the stitching told me they had a transporter load delivered to Exeter, apparently the quality control guys were on strike at Canley! the gaps were so bad they had to tub off frame all 6 and rebuild them, no wonder Triumph had no money

@@simonedwards5070 I can well believe it.I am from the camp that loved Triumphs but BL essentially ruined so many brands through bad builds. The SD1 rover could have been a great car but was riddled with build issues.Such a shame but alas .All we have now are well built cars that all look the same as reliable as they may be.Dull.

Owned one years ago. Loved it but plagued by PI problems. The rot on the rear deck could be a nasty problem.

I think £11K is a low estimate, more like £15-20 I would think as they are very popular. It is rather dirty particularly the interior around the wood dash and surrounding trim. Not all that quick compared to modern cars and it needs a first class set of tyres otherwise suffers from atrocious handling in the wet.

In other words with those panel gaps Triumph buld quality was crap like most british cars of the 1970s with a few exceptions

the old guy who stitched my seats on my re-build worked at the dealership in Exeter, he said most TR6s were so badly done the garage had to re-jig the tubs on the frames just to make them look saleable

Mk 3 cortina's were much worse, you could get you hand in sideways

The trouble is after all the hype to buy a classic car the reality hits home. Its all very well saying dont spend money on it just give it a good clean and use it but the driving experience is a big disappointment. The TR6 driving position is uncomfortable the car feels heavy and dull to drive and can be lethal in the wet due to the rear suspension design. If you must have a British sports car of that early 70s period and have £12000 to spend i much rather have a good MGB roadster with a genuine BMC stage 2 head/catbs/manifold nimbler more fun to drive than a TR6.On the other hand 12 grand would get you a nice Jag XK8 convertable or even a good Porsche Boxter S from early 2000s
    Makes you think doesn't it??

I have a TR6 and find it plenty of fun drive. I think it mostly just comes down to personal preference of what you enjoy.
