Maze to confusion Trespassing is a misdemeanor charge unless it causes injury or damage meeting various levels of severity. No felony trespass here. It's trespassing to wander around on a construction site that isn't your own. It's not anyone's fault but your parents that none of you were taught that. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
I used to go on construction sites as a kid, and even then I knew I was misbehaving and it was wrong.
Besides, this guy had a record and was 12 miles from home, wearing boots. In a construction site that had cameras installed because things had been going missing. The police were called on a trespasser, and before they arrived, he's on camera running out of the house.

Except in this case, the McMichaels were justified in their actions under GA law. Reasonable suspicion based on immidiate knowledge of a crime. (1st or 2nd degree burglary). Lawful citizen's arrest, lawful open carry. When Arbery comes around from the other side of the truck and runs straight at Travis, he has innitiated contact and he is the aggressor. Autopsy shows the first shot goes through Arbery's hand, and was first from the driver's side of the vehicle. That means Arbery had his hand on the muzzle of the shotgun, and the location the shot was fired from reiterates that Arbery attacked McMichael. At that point, GA stand your ground law comes into play, which means that if you have sufficient reason to believe your life, or the lives of others are in danger, or if a forcible felony is in progress, use of force becomes justified to end the threat.
It's regretable that a man died but people need to drop the narrative and drop the race card. This case is pretty cut and dry.

If you watch the video you see him running in the direction of the truck because the truck was driven into his running path to cut him off. As he's running on he sees the son getting out of the truck on the driver side, so he swerved to the right of the truck to continue running past them. What we can't see if you don't look good enough, is the son going around the front of the truck to attempt to stop him in his tracks. When the camera pans back over that's why you see them coming from in front of the truck. He didn't run towards his door side when he seen him getting out he tried to run around but was cut off with a gun in his face. And this comment section has shown that a huge number of people, myself included have trespassed construction sites out of curiosity. A few times I ran across someone there and we chatted, other times they asked me to leave for safety reasons. But even if they called the cops, it's a misdemeanor. It's a fine. There is no justification to be found here. No responsible gun owner picks up their weapon with the intent to follow someone without giving themselves permission in that moment to kill another human being. Without basically saying that the actions I'm about to instigate could end up with someone's death. And there's no grey area here, they were the one's who instigated and escalated. The second that happened and they followed, that was intent. That was a heinous overreach giving what they knew at that moment. They didn't even know the homeowners. Look, this is a sad situation. I understand if you feel like it was unnecessary for these men to have pursued Ahmaud with loaded weapons. The two white guys started the altercation by attempting to stop a free person while brandishing their guns. In this climate of racial tension I would certainly fear for my life, as Ahmaud rightly did. And look at the end result. There is no justification by saying the black kid punched the shooter or grabbed the gun. The GA laws are not on the shooters’ side. They did not see Ahmaud commit any crimes, misdemeanor or felony. And they used excessive force to try to detain him. Ahmaud had the right to go an his way and the shooters could have simply asked him questions or even followed him. And using deadly force in defense of another’s property is not a valid defense. Sad.

Growing up. I’ve lived in 4 brand new constructed houses. Each location my mom bought her house. She would look in other houses under construction as well. Why, because that’s common with home owners. I just came back from living in Japan and bought a brand new house. Know what I did. Walked across the street to see what styling my neighbors decided to go with. Who knows how many times people looked in my house under construction. Especially when your one of the few houses half way finished in the new subdivision. I guess we all deserved death or jail time

Prayers go out to the English family. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t close on that home. It’s just not worth it. A whole subdivision has been changed. Let’s remember that the man was only looking at the house.
How many times has the common man looked at a house under construction to get ideas on what he wants his future home to look like? If my memory serves me right, this guy was a electrician. That’s good money. Maybe he was trying to see how the electrical wiring was run through the house? We don’t know. The only thing that we know is that something or somebody scared him and he decided to run and when his mind told him to fight he died. I don’t what people think, it’s obvious that he was scared out of his mind when those two guys cornered him.

R E I agree with you. I have walked through a couple of houses under construction in my time, just to imagine what it might look like if I was moving in. Heck, after my family moved into my parent’s place 10 years ago, we still had people looking through our windows for a couple months.
However, my understanding is that Ahmad was already on a jog/run through the neighborhood and just stopped to look around before continuing his run. From what I’ve heard, he was an avid runner.
I feel bad for the English family for getting their name dragged into this, I feel worse for the Arbery family for losing a son to a senseless crime. I feel no sympathy for the McMichaels, who are finally being brought to justice.

David Whitfield They could have him for trespassing, nothing more. Criminal Trespass is a misdemeanor. A felony is required for citizens arrest. May seem like a small distinction, until you realize that the father is a retired police officer and DA investigator who knew better. Call 911 and follow if you like, can’t shoot people like that out on the open road. They will serve time, rightfully so imo, the question is how much. The section of my neighborhood where I live was completed less than a year ago. When my house and current neighbors house were under construction, many people living in the completed portion of the community, and others that did not live here were always walking in the construction areas that were not roped off. Not one arrest or shooting regarding protection of property occurred. What you have are two individuals who decided to conduct their own so called policing because of their ties to the local law enforcement. What they did was murder. These unjust double standard laws MUST be changed. It cant be fair for some and unfair for others.

You can't attack someone, and then claim right to defend yourself...That's why you can't shoot someone in the back and claim self defense...He deliberately attacked McMichaels...Maybe trying to get the shotgun...At that point it becomes self defense, and McMichaels have all the right to shoot him....Tragic..yes...but legal...
