  • Welcome to Tirana, Albania's capital city.
    We'd heard so many stories about Albania - some good, but most were not so good. We were, therefore, a little anxious when we arrived at Tirana, Albania's capital.
    Our first impressions have been ..... WOW! WOW! WOW!
    We were totally surprised!
    These are the words we'd use to describe Tirana :
    UNDERRATED, MISREPRESENTED, AWESOME, DYNAMIC, FRIENDLY, MODERN, CLEAN, HELPFUL, WELCOMING, COLOURFUL, RESPECTFUL......INCREDIBLE!!!!
    But don't take our word for it!
    Join us on a walking tour of this wonderful city and we're sure you'll agree why you too should visit!
    To help our channel grow, we'd love you to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE so you'll be able to join us as we explore more destinations in the future.
    Thank you for watching :)

      The beauty of Tirana is the people - and, for us, the gorgeous park with its lake setting. It costs nothing to enjoy the beauty and just a few LEK and you can relax with a coffee and watch the world go by. Perfect! And also…. There is no litter on the streets and we found not one piece of litter in the whole park! Remarkable! People here definitely have a lot of respect for their surroundings and their country! 🙏👌✨

    TIRANA it is not underrated city it's just that people around other countries don't know much about her!!!!!

    • @MarlonandMai
      @MarlonandMai  Год назад

      That’s exactly our point! We feel it’s underrated from the opinions we hear from OTHER countries - many people we have met in the past have said they would never visit Tirana as it is so unsafe. We felt very different to this opinion and we tried our very best to produce a video that clearly shows the beauty, hospitality, friendliness and warmth of the Albanian people. Hopefully our video will encourage other countries to see Tirana in a more positive light. WE LOVE TIRANA ❤️🙏👍👌✌️☀️💕

      Becouse Tirana from 1944-1991 was like North Korea today totally isolated and even in 97-98’ was the civil war and Kosovo war effects on the region in 99’-2000 makes people have more than 6 decades not even visiting Tirana specially from 44-1991 no tourist come to Albania 😂 it was not allowed and just in 2009 Albania got 300,000 tourists but in 2022 got 7 mil so people are more impressed positively because when they come to visit Albania they are “infected “ by different massive media and media sometimes is the truth sometimes is just media fun !
      You can understand Albania only after visiting it ! Great nation

    The city is beautiful, but some of the people harsh people a lot. So the last time someone sent a DM on Instagram asking me which part of Albania I was because he saw my comment on one of their University and when I refuse he said I will find you and you will regret for not telling me your whereabout . Like who does that

      We’re tourists so don’t get to know much about the cost of living for the typical Albanian. We’ve walked all over the city and only found very nice shops selling expensive clothing and many, many expensive cars - some of which cost in excess of $130,000! Also, almost everyone we’ve seen on the streets is wearing really nice clothing - many of which put us to shame! 🙏✌️

    • @danielkaca
      @danielkaca Год назад +7

      I was just jocking average wage in albania is 650$ 😂 but some stuff are a lot overpriced here so it not that easy for a person with an average wage to leave here. But im happy that tourists find our capital nice and of course you are welcomed here whenever you want 😊

      Minimal wage is 40,000 lek not 200$ because I have to pay as minimal by law not less than 40,000 Albanian lek (400€) monthly !
      In Albania it was one time that MAXIMAL WAGE OF A TEACHER WAS 200€ (in 90’) so today is MINIMAL 400€ and AVERAGE WAGE ITS 800-900€ similiar to Hungary Romania Bulgaria and most east EU members , so the truth is this Albania has two different sides very poor , middle class and very rich , poor people are more in number than (middle +rich)!
      Albanian 1.5 mil live in west and bring to they family about 200-300€ monthly every month

    • @MarlonandMai

      @@artistic_balkan.collection - thank you for your insight. It’s great to get to understand the reality of costs in Albania as us (tourists) have no idea. The only thing we can say about the Albanian people (in our limited experience) is that despite what income they have, they are happy and welcoming. Our experiences with 99% of Albanians has been incredible. They are the friendliest, polite, caring, respectful people we have encountered in the last five months. ❤️❤️❤️ We can’t wait to return ✌️👌👍

    Biggest propaganda video yet, as i can see like all propaganda ones, you stay only around the city centre and a few streets over...thats all! I dare you to walk down the main road out to the big roundabout with the one tall shop on the left, down that main road about 10km into the surrounds,past the bus stop area and into the side streets taking in local living.... and also do tell what you as a foreigner could do there if you lived there? Where is the immigration,i admit i couldnt even tell you that...sorry but you either have first days puppy love or this is just propaganda...i spent enough time there to know the hype is pretty well hype. Also seeing as your just staying in the city centre, go to their biggest hotel,"international hotel" near the love heart sign and order some pasta and put it on camera...i made better pasta at home but maybe youll be impressed?

    • @MarlonandMai
      @MarlonandMai  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi - you may be right! We probably viewed so much through “puppy love” but we are experienced travellers who have stayed in many different places across Albania. We didn’t stay in a touristy part of Tirana and always felt warmth and friendliness from local people. You’ve taken our personal interpretation way to seriously. We experienced our truth that was true and real to us. Everyone is different and therefore everyone may have a different perspective, view and opinion which is fine. The message we hoped to portray above anything else was how the Albanian people welcomed us like we were one of their family and for that reason we felt it was a place we could live. 🙏
