Panang curry is a delicious and rich curry with complex flavors that come from the paste ingredients. The Panang Curry Paste itself is based on Red Curry Paste with a few extra ingredients to change the overall taste profile.
So if you have red curry paste already then you just need to add the extra ingredients of cumin. coriander, shrimp paste, and roasted peanuts and you will have your base Panang Curry Paste.

You could use Lemon zest, even karffir lime leaf or lime. The result won't be exactly the same but Yeah, why not? 😊

Yes you can but it won't taste the same. The best vegetarian substitutes are fermented soy paste or miso.
