I love these introductions where you're discovering your hair, presenting your t-shirt/ assuring us you're not naked, describing the ears of the day :)) you're my favourite youtuber, you're so genuinely funny :D
Korean makeup generally is sheer in eyeshadows. Skin colour is always on the lighter spectrum because it's targetted to a specific market. And monotonal looks are quite trendy. I see a lot rocking an all pink or all peachy/orange colour scheme! I think the overall look was quite nice!
it's understandable that Korean brands won't have dark shades, it's just that there wouldn't be a huge market for it in Korea. i live in Romania and most places barely sell any dark stuff and it's hard for dark skinned people to find products that match them, but they're such a tiny percentage of our population (literally less than 1%, i can't remember the last time i saw a non caucasian person outside of the exchange students in my uni) that it wouldn't make sense for stores to waste money stocking up on them :/
Same in some European countries like you said. Germany for example. I'm not dark skinned by any means. I'm as pale as a fucking ghost but notice some German brands only have a slightly medium tone in foundations and concealers. There is a market but it isn't big enough for all drugstores to have it (DM, Rossman, etc.)
actually, there are a lot of tan people in Korea. not everyone there is the shade of a sheet of paper. the reason why they don't sell darker shades is because 1. they don't shade match their neck there and 2. being as pale as possible is what people want because it's what is considered beautiful there. basically: colorism.
@@Max-dz2ux omgg have you ever been in Korea?? I used to live in Mexico and came to Korea last year and i actually get shocked of seeing koreans reeeaaally pale, you can barely see koreans who have tanned their skins😂
Max your average naturally tan Korean is still pretty light according to western standards. They’re considered tan in Korea bc everyone else is pale af. I’d say in makeup terms they’d be around nc25/30. I’m this complexion and I am able to find complexion products in Korean makeup. Also some companies are starting to make darker shades bc there’s more Koreans who like to tan. Whereas some brands like Laneige & Missha have been making darker shades available for a while.
In the UK, we’re so conditioned to be politically correct at all times, with people constantly scared they might’ve said something that would offend a minority group, or someone who is militant in their defence of minority groups, that common sense is becoming something of a rarity...!
I actually liked the original look, the colour was lovely. You still look better than I could ever hope to achieve! I think it’s always going to be difficult to achieve western style and trends with Asian makeup that’s not intended to be used for that kind of look. Thanks for sharing, you’re so creative xxx
Can u test out the new revolution eyeshadow pallettes like the foiled one and the galaxy ones or like a full face of revolution as they have new highlights and bronzers
of course there isn't a huge shade range because korean makeup is targeted to koreans who... are quite light skinned. +many koreans use lighter foundation shade rather than actually matching it.
But there are korean people with dark skin too..and i know that light skin Is considered beautiful in S. Korean but korean that aren't that light shoul be able to find a matching shade...
@@caterinapicco7316 i know that some koreans have darker skin tone ad of course they should but what can we do when their society is fucked up and prefers lighter skin tone?
Hey Steph, you should do a video with your "perfect full face of make up", like a full face of your holy grail products that won't let you down. Love from Portugal
I only wear Estee Lauder Double Wear and I'm very intrigued by this brand you mention. What colour are you in EL vs Etude House ? I use Fresco and can never get the exact colour match in other foundations :-(
I really loved this look and the original lip colour. I’m currently searching it online! And the brow product looked great too. I’ve been getting more into Korean make up recently- the packing is so interesting and the quality seems good. Thanks for this vid! X
It's not that the makeup is bad, it's just that it's meant to be used differently to western makeup. Korean makeup is all about the "no makeup" makeup look, and korean people are usually pretty pale so they don't make super dark foundations and bb creams. Their eyeshadows are less pigmented and more sheer on purpose, they go for a more monotone shimmery look, and they love highlighting the "aegyosal" which is the part right underneath your eyes. The lipsticks ( or more used lip tints) are almost always pink, orange or red because those are the hot colours now-a-days. Plus, they aren't meant to be used as a full plump lip look, more of a gradient "darker at the start and slowly fades out the further you get" type of look. Mascaras and falsies tend to usually be very natural and subtle, koreans even prefer lashes that come in smaller parts so they can make their lashes look fuller, but not american type of full. Honestly so many western makeup artists review korean makeup but completely discard the difference in korean style makeup and western style makeup, so they end up using it wrong. The look still ended up pretty good, but i thought i would just give you a heads up! I reccomend you watch a couple of tutorials or check out beauty gurus like PONY, who are very popular in S.Korea.
Steph! I so wanted to come to the Kiko meet and greet but long story short I had a epileptic fit and chipped a tooth ended up getting a severe infection in the soft tissue of my face and was rushed to hospital. I only just got out last night! I will definitely be there at the next meet and greet ! 💗
I love K beauty skincare. And can use 23 in cushion foundation in the English winter and 25 in summer with some cover fx drops to darken it or mix in a darker foundation. Eye sticks and eye liners usually are bomb. Clio do a fab liquid liner but the Koreans have a totally different aesthetic to European girls and like subtle light cover make up so I tend not to go for their eye shadows. Love yes Style too xoxo
"I look at warm shades and think 'no, that's not for me'." Ha! Another reason to love ya. Can't wait till someone will offer you a collab and you come out with a completely green palette or a fantastic cool tone one. And of course a blinding highlighter 😁. Guess that only leaves a few options since beaming highlighters are part of only a few drugstore brands...
You are the realist RUclipsr ever , you always tell the turn and your not just in it for the money your passion is a amazing I don’t think you will remember me but I was watching your live and I picked up that you had a tin of beans in your car I was impressed you could say my name right but it was because you had an old bestfried with the same name 😂 you are such an amazing person I love watching all your videos they always make me feel better and I’m always laughing thankyou for being such a good RUclipsr I love you Steph and ollys a lucky little boy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Girl I have over 100€ in my cart on YesStyle lmao waiting for a random paycheck to fall over from the sky so I can finally order 😂😂😂 It's mostly skin care and a few lip tints. Can't wait :)
Really enjoyed your wild MALT lipstick. Did you even notice you had said MALT? 😂 even looking how you did at the end wasn’t terrible! But damn that palette, no no no no no!
glittery eyeshadows are the biggest thing in korea and japan, like every makeup look has them on. When it comes to foundation, they idolize pale skin and stay out of sun and wear crazy spf moisturizers to stay pale. Orange, peach, light browns are all very asian colous in beauty so it doesn't surprise me that the lipsticks were that colour too :D Btw i really liked the original one you put on i thought it looked really good on you! ♥
I love the fact that I actually nodded my head 🙈 I love how you loose your shit when the highlighter drops. How do you manage to turn every makeup look into tah dah, here's stunning steph again x
You’re so funny! I literally feel like we react to shit the same way haha! Also you do a pretty damn good Marge Simpson haha. Have a great day! Love your videos as usual! x ❤️
Steph, not sure if you like waves or curls, but what I always do when my hair is weird length (and discovered I kinda like it) is to curl it. It'll be shorter then and you won't have hair sticking out. You could also try straightening and turning it inside at the end - but please use protection spray then! I use rockin rollers (snap n go is the cheaper version on Amazon). Super easy and hardly any work and comfy to sleep in. Just in case your hair really bothers you.
I thought the lips looked a lot better before but I do generally prefer it anyway. Can you do testing korean makeup in the Korean style, follow a tutorial or something? Love your videos
Love you steph 😂 I've had such a hard time recently with the loss of my sister, and you have instantly made me smile. The t-shirt, I love it. Thanks for doing what you do :) xx
Korean eyeshadows tends to be glittery but sheer bcs it’s trendy and that’s what they want it’s their style the whole opposite of ours which is soo pigmented

I’ll never get over her brown eyes😍😍 so pretty

Your natural skin tone with that foundation was a good match, and looks really pretty!
Tbh among other non-korean youtubers who tried korean foundations you probably nailed it the best
Gotta love a video upload from steph.

I'm sooo happy
I wasn't expecting to get a notification at 11pm but thank you, you made my day !
Try the Etude House double lasting (Demi matte) or double last serum (glow) foundations, they’re my go to. It’s a dupe for Estée Lauder double wear
I only wear Estee Lauder Double Wear and I'm very intrigued by this brand you mention. What colour are you in EL vs Etude House ? I use Fresco and can never get the exact colour match in other foundations :-(
More of these please? I love watching these kinds of videos!

These are literally ALL products I have looked at on yesstyle and wondered if I should buy so thanks so much for this video!
Ok that was an exaggerated use of the work literally but you know what I mean. Appreciate it.
I know you hate this eye look but I love it really suites your brown eyes. Beaut. Yes.
You should do a full face of panda theme products, there's about 1000 on yesstyle and it'd be si cute!
Where do you get those headbands and that t-shirt 😂
The Tshirt is from nasty gal x
Headbands are from yesstyle x
Girls, you're even more beautiful with brown eyes!
‘Surely not’- so british 😂
The holika holika aloe vera gel is my ride or die. Improved my skin 10 fold! You can get it on beauty bay 💖
