YES. It's so fucking draining to join my first game and just have someone target ban a teammate, give up after the first team fight or just don't play at all. They know that they won't be punished at all so they don't care. There needs to be more harsh punishment for throwers if the game is to survive.

You're getting flamed by people that didnt see that you missed your shots and believe everything they hear, super toxic people that flame for no reason and cant admit it might be their fault or teams not just one person's fault. Apparently they didn't know about the website until very recently. The youtuber Clouded Rio put out a video saying he talked to the Rivals devs and they weren't aware of it till he pointed it out to them. Whether that's true or not Idk but that's what Rio said in his vid.
There was a thrower called Gl0wsticks who would sit in 18v18 for literal hours on end and just jump off the map. He did this for WEEKS and only JUST got banned... for five days. If someone who literally does nothing on this game but throw, only gets a 5 day ban, it's no wonder people who throw comp matches maybe 1/5 or 1/10 games get zero penalties.

The threat of ip/hardware bans would solve this problem. People can't afford a pc that costs more than a car or even a stick of RAM/graphics card worth more than people rent.

Rivals needs to consider the fact that some players just aren't cut out for comp. Whether it be the guy that leaves games constantly, or the guy that can't stop flaming every team he gets on and tilts every person he meets into losing, or the Serial-AFKer, or the guy who bans your teammates hero to guarantee your teammates are tilted before the spawn doors open, or the keyboard warrior that spends the entire match typing in All Chat to everyone in the game about their teammates while staring at a wall (this is the most common thrower in the game and they have no idea that that's what they're doing), or people getting paid to throw, or the guy on his sixth account that starts out the match announcing he's on a smurf and doesn't care cuz "its your SR, not mine on the line" - some people just aren't cut out for comp. Those people don't need a temporary ban, they need a permanent stamp on their account that says "Not Comp Approved" and can never enter comp again. And make sure they are hardware/IP banned so they can never come back. Hardware banning is the only way to stop people from just making a new account and logging right back on instantly in a F2P game.

I've been learning Invis, and I had someone accuse me of throwing when I had bad ult placement, but yet I had the highest healing in the lobby and didn't really die all that much. @cyanmazuma490that’s definitely not throwing. Being bad at a character is not throwing. Throwing is purposefully going idle, repeatedly jumping off the map, etc. It is intentional and malicious. Being bad is not throwing and reporting people for it is a waste of resources and time.

Can we also talk about how unbalanced the matchmaking is due to higher ranks being able to play in lower lobbies? The matches need to be competitive… not blowouts because they got 1-2 players who don’t belong there.

This is actually how I think cheaters, throwers, anything negative like that should be handled rather than an outright ban. A ban is an instant action the person realizes has happened and is fine for smaller stuff to give someone a time out, but for major stuff like this a more subtle approach I would imagine is more effective. Keep them playing thinking they're getting away with it rather than signal to them they've been caught and need to make a new account now. Sure, eventually they might figure out that they only ever queue with people who are also cheating/throwing (or their queues are taking suspiciously long because it can't find other cheaters/throwers), but it definitely keeps them from making a new account longer. Since they have bot games in QP every so often where it's 4 players + 2 bots against 6 bots, those types of lobbies could even be used during times when the queue time is going to get suspiciously long since it only has to grab 4 of em instead of 12 for a match.
@gameraven13 It's an instant action that the person realizes has happened if you put them in an isolated queue too. People generally tend to notice if there's 12 cheaters or throwers in a lobby. The problem is that the moment that cheaters realize this is how it works, all your effort in even bothering to do this crap becomes wasted. These things don't actually work because you can't hide that they're in the game.
Super Smash Bros for the Wii U (and I think Ultimate too?) actually has something similar to this, named For Glory Hell. People who got reported enough would get put in a separate server with other people who also got reported a bunch. It would take forever to find games and when you did find one, it would have toxic players, laggers, or just extremely good players

Well netease just released a statement about this. They are going to be hardest on throwers. But if they accualy go through with the whole permaban thing then they need to address the problem of how easy it is to just create a new account and then start throwing or smurfing again.
I think that people who have spent money on the game of have lots of time will want to not get banned and those that create new accounts will get banned for throwing anyways. They already need to get back to comp which will take a few hours every new account and they'd be starting in silver which isn't great, but they should get banned again quickly after.

Your first match in QUICK PLAY are actually bots. Like no insult but literal bots. You start getting real players around your 3rd or 4th match. There is skill based matchmaking so you won’t fight against QP sweats off rip.

Re: people claiming throwing when not actually a thrower. A bad game happens to people. I've been learning Invis, and I had someone accuse me of throwing when I had bad ult placement, but yet I had the highest healing in the lobby and didn't really die all that much. I panic ult'd and lost the game as a result. I totally took the blame but my team dragged me for it and claimed I was throwing.

@cyanmazuma490that’s definitely not throwing. Being bad at a character is not throwing. Throwing is purposefully going idle, repeatedly jumping off the map, etc. It is intentional and malicious. Being bad is not throwing and reporting people for it is a waste of resources and time.
@crystalsue11its almost the same thing if its ranked. If you know you arent good with them and play them thats the same thing. Now if you just have a bad game its not the same
Can we also talk about how unbalanced the matchmaking is due to higher ranks being able to play in lower lobbies? The matches need to be competitive… not blowouts because they got 1-2 players who don’t belong there.

12:38 another point on minor inconvenience, nothing stops the players with bans from simply having say, 4 alt accounts, since the game is free. by the time the last one gets hit with a ban, the first one is probably up again. the only real way to prevent that is hardware or ip bans on throwers

This is actually how I think cheaters, throwers, anything negative like that should be handled rather than an outright ban. A ban is an instant action the person realizes has happened and is fine for smaller stuff to give someone a time out, but for major stuff like this a more subtle approach I would imagine is more effective. Keep them playing thinking they're getting away with it rather than signal to them they've been caught and need to make a new account now. Sure, eventually they might figure out that they only ever queue with people who are also cheating/throwing (or their queues are taking suspiciously long because it can't find other cheaters/throwers), but it definitely keeps them from making a new account longer. Since they have bot games in QP every so often where it's 4 players + 2 bots against 6 bots, those types of lobbies could even be used during times when the queue time is going to get suspiciously long since it only has to grab 4 of em instead of 12 for a match.
@gameraven13 It's an instant action that the person realizes has happened if you put them in an isolated queue too. People generally tend to notice if there's 12 cheaters or throwers in a lobby. The problem is that the moment that cheaters realize this is how it works, all your effort in even bothering to do this crap becomes wasted. These things don't actually work because you can't hide that they're in the game.
Super Smash Bros for the Wii U (and I think Ultimate too?) actually has something similar to this, named For Glory Hell. People who got reported enough would get put in a separate server with other people who also got reported a bunch. It would take forever to find games and when you did find one, it would have toxic players, laggers, or just extremely good players
As an aspiring game developer all this stuff is so dishearteningly gross. It never ceases to amaze me just how terminally online people can be that a single game match matters this much. It's like a whole new low.

Well netease just released a statement about this. They are going to be hardest on throwers. But if they accualy go through with the whole permaban thing then they need to address the problem of how easy it is to just create a new account and then start throwing or smurfing again.
I think that people who have spent money on the game of have lots of time will want to not get banned and those that create new accounts will get banned for throwing anyways. They already need to get back to comp which will take a few hours every new account and they'd be starting in silver which isn't great, but they should get banned again quickly after.

I still find it crazy there’s a website that pays people to throw. We are playing a game for fun, why are people there to ruin it for everyone else for their own amusement?
Ruining it for everyone else for their own amusement isn't uncommon as an attitude. Spending the big bucks to do it is another level entirely. That's crazy. Too much time, too much money. Completely divorced from reality.
The last sentence of the comment above (below?) mine explained it perfectly. Lots of pvp games are just breeding grounds for toxicity. When that toxicity reaches a fever pitch, stuff like this happens. Apex legends used to have a stream snipe page that got taken down. If the devs don’t act fast, then these things get out of hand quickly.
I mean, you sort of said it yourself - they are having fun. It doesn't need to make sense but there are legit people that find joy in ruining a good experience for other people. It's not a good type of behaviour by any means, nor should it be accepted, but that's just how it is. Some people simply enjoy being genuinely annoying and lame.

It wasn’t important enough until it streamers were getting targeted. I’ve been experiencing throwers for a long time before this but because I’m not a streamer my experience doesn’t matter. I’m just told I need to “get good or don’t play🤓” it’s ironic because I’m not amazing at the game but I’ve played overwatch since the beginning pretty much so I understand what I need to do to get better and if the match I’m in is within my control or not etc.

I’ve seen more toxic streamers doing bronze to celestial Smurf every season and stomping the daylights out of low elo players than players accepting bounties😂 but smurfing is ok because they’re streamers.

They’ve delayed SO many desperately needed obvious fixes that I gave up, moved to Deadlock until at least season 7. Half the roster is either completely broken or unplayably bad and throwers have been a big problem for 6+ months. Game’s in a real bad spot.

It’s more exciting for a whole lobby to do this than play the game. 😂😂 It took them this long to announce a new penalty for throwing and the community as a whole is beyond the point of caring. It’s way too late to fix the game because there are hundreds if not thousands of alt accounts in diamond+. They had a year to fix this and all of a sudden it’s an emergency because money is involved……

So me a friend decided to get back into MR. our first match in QUICK PLAY was on this same map with three people doing this exact same thing. Our second match had the same thing on a different map with different players.
We logged off and dont plan on coming back.

Your first match in QUICK PLAY are actually bots. Like no insult but literal bots. You start getting real players around your 3rd or 4th match. There is skill based matchmaking so you won’t fight against QP sweats off rip.
